    • I switched from a C3 to an M3 when I first started gigging as a teen. (C3 too bloody heavy.) M3 was half the weight and sounded just as good. Bit of a compromise going to 44 note manuals, but not such a big deal in a hard rock prog band. Two of us could pick it up and carry it without much bother. Sold it about a year later when clonewheels first started to appear. Didn't sound as good as the M3, (even though I still used a real leslie) but I sure liked the minimal weight and 61 keys again.   Clonewheels have come a long way. I wouldn't bother with an M3 for gigging these days, but having one parked in the studio or rehearsal space with a leslie ain't a bad thing at all. They do sound great.
    • They're still about 250 lbs. Get one cheap. Put a fold back kit in it and rock out.
    • Actually, I asked ChatGPT "when the FBI recovers stolen money and can't identify the source, what happens to it?" Here was the response:   The funds typically go through a legal process called forfeiture. This process allows the government to seize and retain the money. Here are the general steps involved:   1. Seizure and Forfeiture: The money is seized and a forfeiture action is initiated. If no one claims the money or if the claims are not substantiated, the money is forfeited to the government. 2. Use of Funds: Once forfeited, the money can be used in various ways. It might be allocated to law enforcement agencies to support their operations, including funding investigations and other activities. 3. Victim Compensation: In some cases, if victims of the crime are later identified, the forfeited money can be used to compensate them. This process ensures that the recovered funds are put to use, often supporting further law enforcement efforts or aiding victims.   I'm no lawyer, but I'd try to make a case for (3) that the victims are all musicians, because the fraud has not only denied them of potential income but damaged the reputation of streaming as a service for all musicians. I would argue that because MusiCares addresses all musicians and is a 501(c)3, that's where the ill-gotten gains should go.   I also wonder if Spotify not doing anything would be in the same category as a web site not notifying the authorities of illegal activity occurring on their site. If Spotify knows there's fraud going on and they don't make a good faith effort to stamp it out, perhaps Spotify's management personnel are essentially accessories to the crime because they provided the means for the crime to take place, and didn't do anything to prevent it.
    • Okay, now I have the bigger picture. Doing regular work as well as slowly resurrecting vintage pieces that will find a future home in eager hands makes you a demigod. As the old saw goes, boys admire bravery, but the one who can make his own fireworks is exalted above all others. Those who lust after vintage synths should take note of Jim's righteous $65/hr. fee. You have to budget for that in much the same way you need vet insurance for your dogs & cats. Got to take care of The Precious!
    • Regsrdless of how he did it, even if from a jail cell, I wouldn't be surprised if Smith becomes a paid consultant to record companies trying to sell their legit artists across streaming platforms.😎

    • Yes! And also big, good knobs on a large panel.       Well, in this case I'm almost sure there were problems with the video camera, because I noticed the issue while editing, much before uploading the video on YT. While I was shooting the video, I had set up the lights and the camera settings exactly like in previous videos, but the outcome was so bad that for the first time ever, I had to attempt corrections in the editing stage. It was only partially useful, and it added some artifacts to the image (you can notice that on my hands, for example). Btw, thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a try.
    • I always reduce video to 1024x720 before uploading to YT.  It will still get compressed but not horribly grainy.
