  1. Dicky Betts was one awesome guitarist, I agree. He was a little overshadowed by Duane Allman a bit, in the early Allman Brothers band, because Duane was also a great guitarist, Duane's style put him way out front of the rest of the players. The two guitarists left a huge legacy with their offspring who still play out a bunch. RIP Dicky Betts you were a really excellent player.
  2. Welcome back amigo. Glad to see you are still with us.👍
  3. The volume Commander pedal looks real useful for tone.
  4. I have some Behringer stuff. @surfergirl most of it works well. No frills but fairly dependable.
  5. Practice makes a good guitarist. Simple as that. Lots of practice makes a great guitarist.
  6. Glad to hear you are restarting the band back up surfergirl. I second Caev's suggestion about you filming the band & posting a video.
  7. Good luck picker, Both are made by Line 6 so there must be a way..... Best wishes.
  8. Yep @Larryz I think you are right.
  9. We are friends on Facebook also and no action there from Winston lately. He usually advertises his gigs on Facebook.
  10. They are well worth seeing.
  11. I was at a tribute show last night, a band from Western Canada called Eagle Eyes. Of course they did Eagles tunes. They did absolutely the best tribute to the Eagles material and better than any other tribute band that I have ever seen. The the guitar players were absolutely spectacular. The bass and drummer were spot on, the band rocked it. The vocals were great. The harmonies were awesome (I started my musical odyssey singing a-Capella doo wop with a group called the Soundmasters on Long Beach Island New Jersey so I am well versed in harmonies). The stunned me with their spot on vocals. I saw Joe Walsh do the Rocky Mountain Way with The James Gang in Bricktown NJ on their first national tour, The Eagle Eyes did that spot on also. The guitar player who played Walsh was excellent in the vocals as well as the guitar work as were the rest of them. I recommend the Eagle Eyes tribute band highly if they ever show up in your area. https://www.eagleeyestribute.rocks/
  12. @Caevan O’Shite Thanks I was always looking for that smooth overdrive with overtones and undertones. None of those guys you mentioned above were an influence on me, the only guitarists that I ever copied was a little early Clapton from the Creams Wheels of Fire album, And lots of early Roy Buchanan (whom I saw live on his first national tour). I am an improvisor. I learned how the scales work and how to fit them against the backing tracks, and from that point on I just let it flow out (improvising like that on original tunes has very little monetary value in the bar scene or in the recording process). Music is just a nice hobby for me. However one of these days I might try to play out, that is why I just got that second Super Champ X2, so I have a backup unit in case the first one breaks. The SCX2 is an amp I can use in small rooms. It has all the effects I use which is overdrive and reverb. One trip in, and one trip out, amp in one hand, guitar in the other. The SCX2's also have a line out which can go into bigger amps or a PA system for more volume than the SCX2 which are only 15 watts RMS. Anyways it is hard to sell improvised sets on original tunes to local venues unless I go out and play some venues for free, and if I get good results other venues might pay......
  13. Looks cool, I once had a Line 6 Pod XT. It was awesome sounding as a recording device. Here is the tune the last one I recorded with the Pod XT https://www.soundclick.com/music/songInfo.cfm?songID=5913545 I did this because a famous producer was complaining that many or most of my tunes, had the leads done in overdrive so I did a swap out between overdrive and clean to prove it was ok that I could do either clean or overdrive.
