If you want a taste of that RMI nostalgia without the back pain, this one's free for those with Kontakt 5 or newer. RMI Rocksichord : Free Sample Library for Kontakt, Ableton Live & Logic EXS24 | Soniccouture

I switched from a C3 to an M3 when I first started gigging as a teen. (C3 too bloody heavy.) M3 was half the weight and sounded just as good. Bit of a compromise going to 44 note manuals, but not such a big deal in a hard rock prog band. Two of us could pick it up and carry it without much bother. Sold it about a year later when clonewheels first started to appear. Didn't sound as good as the M3, (even though I still used a real leslie) but I sure liked the minimal weight and 61 keys again. Clonewheels have come a long way. I wouldn't bother with an M3 for gigging these days, but having one parked in the studio or rehearsal space with a leslie ain't a bad thing at all. They do sound great.

Hammond Clonewheel "B3-like" Case & Stand -- Build, Part 2
Konnector replied to Old No7's topic in The Keyboard Corner
Looks like a fun project. I've built a few keyboard shells, stands, acoustic panels & mixing desks over the years. I've been thinking about building a keyboard shell to house three boards. Not going to lug it around. Just something to spruce up the basement studio. -
I've had my share of old Roland manuals over the years. It wasn't just the translation issues with those. They gave little instruction or examples as to what exactly a certain parameter would be used for - only the various parameter options you had control over. The best, informative, clear and concise manual I ever had was my Ensoniq ASR-10 sampler manuals. There were three or four included totalling about 400 pages. They really did a great job and made it very easy to learn how to use every bit of it. I have a manual from a Hammond XK-1. The english translation in that rivals anything Roland ever put out!

My two cats are both gone now. First time in my entire life there's been no pets in the house. Haven't replaced them and I don't think I will at this point as we're doing more travelling these days. One less hassle to have to deal with when we're not around. Maybe later on down the road when we're old and feeble I'll revisit the pet thing.

Great live version. Used to play that song 6 nights a week in a cover band many many years ago. I didn't have a clavinet in my rig, so I used my ARP Odyssey for the clav bits.

Lester K and Strymon Lex Mk1 - How close to Neo Ventilator?
Konnector replied to To B3's topic in The Keyboard Corner
Don't think it's something that very many people would recommend doing. It will definitely sound a little strange, (I've experimented with that) but depending on how it's used it might be ok for something "different" once in a while, otherwise I wouldn't bother going there. The rotary effect before the OD pedal will modulate your drive which isn't something you want happening. -
From what I've read, the only way "easy" way to re-install software is from a cloned disk image of your drive when it was functioning properly. Found this if it's helpful in installing Komplete, etc. These are Receptor Installer files only - so you'd still need the Komplete software to load. Says for Receptor 1 and 2, so I don't know if this will work or not on a Receptor 3. https://musereceptor.com.au/downloads/ (I doubt that a factory reset will bring back Komplete. (It would probably delete all installed vsts.) I think there's a Muse Receptor Facebook group that might be helpful. (I don't use Facebook, but you may want to look for that. Maybe someone has a disk image with Komplete on it.)

I asked MS Bing Co-Pilot how to restore a Receptor Trio to factory settings. (No idea if that includes bundled instruments it came with though.) Here's the response from MS Bing: To restore your Muse Receptor Trio to factory settings, you can follow these steps: Power Off: Turn off your Receptor Trio completely. Enter Setup Mode: Hold the SETUP button on the front panel and keep holding it as you turn on the Receptor. Access Support Tools: Continue holding the SETUP button until you enter the support tools menu. Navigate to Expert Menu: Use the top encoder knob to scroll through the selections until you reach the EXPERT menu. Cache Reset: The first option should be to perform a cache reset. Confirm this by pushing in on one of the knobs1. If these steps don’t resolve your issue, you might need to reformat the hard drive or seek further assistance from a professional. Feel free to ask if you need more detailed instructions or have other questions! You say that Komplete is no longer on it? Not sure how it could just disappear. Have you looked through the program files on the Receptor drive to see if it's there? For my Receptor, I have to view the internal files on the Recptor remotely on my pc/daw using a crossover cable to connect the two. Don't know if your model works that way, but all you need is a crossover cable (any pc store/builder can make one up for probably 10 bucks.) and the Muse Remote Control software installed to do that. Beyond that, (if Komplete, etc. is actually still there) I don't know what you can possible do on your own as Muse made it difficult to tinker under the hood without them getting involved.

Muse Research is long gone. There's still a 118 page Muse Recepter thread up @ KVR Audio. Someone might chime in if you post a question there. Beyond that, someone here might have some Receptor experience. Muse Research and Development Forum - KVR Audio I have a Receptor Pro II Max with Komplete and several other goodies on it that I picked up used. It came with a new spare cloned hard drive if/when the original one craps out. The person I bought it from (original owner) said it was a real bitch cloning the drive. (Nice of him to include it though!) Don't use it much but it runs just fine. Nice to have Kontakt available on something besides my pc/daw. Got it used in great shape for $450. You might be able to find a used one somewhere for a steal loaded with Komplete if nothing else pans out.

I found the perfect spot for my Steinway M
Konnector replied to ElmerJFudd's topic in The Keyboard Corner
You can have a view like that with only a 30 minute drive from downtown Vancouver. Finding a piano tuner is no problem, but the price for that view will be a shocker. Real estate prices here are crazy high these days, but people with the $$$$ seem to be more than willing to pay those prices to live here. -
Expensive hardware - what keeps us buying it?
Konnector replied to Dave Bryce's topic in The Keyboard Corner
VST synths etc. are quite amazing these days, but playing a VST version of an expensive synth on a screen is like watching porn. Having a real hardware version of that synth is a hands-on experience with that porn star. -
VCV Rack - Free VST for getting into modular synthesis
Konnector replied to CrossRhodes's topic in The Keyboard Corner
Cardinal is a popular, free modular vst. (based on VCV Rack) It includes approximately 1200 modules from various developers. (That makes my head hurt just thinking about it!) Anyway, is supposedly very good, totally free and (some say) more stable overall than VCV Rack Rack 2. I can't verify that. I haven't used either one (yet), but I'm thinking about exploring the modular world via vst to begin with. Beats the heck out of building a hardware system which is a guaranteed money pit - only to discover later it's not for me. -
What are your ideal keyboard/electric piano ranges?
Konnector replied to Kyubiwan's topic in The Keyboard Corner
61 note: Low C, which thankfully is standard. 76 note: Low C would be ideal. I have two 76 note synths. They both start on E. 88 note: No issues there, although I never use the bottom 3 notes for piano, so losing those as well as 3 of the highest notes would probably be just fine. (82 note piano...good luck ever finding one of those!)- 17 replies
