Thanks wj. Just another homework thing for the eis class. This week i thought I'd do something other than the orch stuff we usually do. You can do whatever you want. The principles apply to anything. Last week we were talking about chromatic movement and how to sub tones every other movement for color. That's what i did in that intro. Sounds more complicated than it is, but it's a nice effect, I think. Learnin' as I go.

Hey linwood, I finally got a chance to listen to Ten and fb today.

I have to agree with zephonic about the sax on fb, it has a synthy sound to it but the piece is very well constructed, I really enjoyed it! You know if you didn't say that you had used the sax it wouldn't have been a great solo synth sound ;)

Ten is impressive compositionally! You can always hire the LSO later on :)

Really nice stuff from everyone recently. Aidan, you have such a wonderful touch/feel to all you do. I was listening to it and my wife, who hears me clam all day long, pokes her head in asks, "who's that playing?" She loved it! And Clusterchord, great stuff and thanks for the vids with it. You look like you've been busy.

Thanks, Bill.

I'm back on the rock pile today.......

its mainly pop rock and in addition, there are a couple of instrumentals there as well i shot earlier this year with just me playing along to my sequenced track.

for the band vids im playing my pc3 exclusively and for the solo vids, its pc3, xs7 and prophet 08.

there are other playlists as well of me playing with other people so feel free to check them out..not original tunes there though.

i posted only my orignal music vids on my facebook artist page as well in case you dont want to bother with youtube ;)

I am mostly hesitant to post my music anywhere around the Keyboard Corner, despite being pals with so many of you. Why is that, you ask? Well, could be that though I plays keys, my primary instrument is called the guitar. :D

However, I just got a rough mix in from my friend/mixer/co-producer Phil O'Keefe, and this particular song features Ken Lee (aka KenElevenShadows here on KC) using his Electro 2 to do some very sweet organ stabs and fills. Since there are keys on this one, albeit not exactly the featured instrument, I feel better about throwing it out to you.

Here's "Lines On Your Eyes" from my upcoming album.

If you weren't already aware, I'm doing this one under my stage name of Zak Claxton. And, if you want more details, I'm playing guitar, bass, and lead/bck vocals here. As mentioned, Ken is on the Nord. Another MP forum guy, Bunny Knutson, is my drummer on this track. Phil O'Keefe adds additional guitars and backing vocals.

The mix isn't final, but it's close enough to give you the idea for the tune. I'll let you KC people know when we have the album done, perhaps in two months or so. In the meantime, you're always welcome to listen to rough mixes at zakclaxton.com/music.html . :)

Thanks Linwood!

I have to say... working with other musicians of the caliber of Phil, Bunny and Ken makes all the difference in the world. The process has been so easy and natural compared to other musical projects I've done, it scares me in a way. I guess that's how it's supposed to be when you're with talented people who are also your good friends. :)

Just an arpeggiator jam. 11 minutes long, but worth it. Recorded completely live, using solely the Arturia Minimoog V softsynth. My first jam of this kind, so sorry if it's not up to standard. Anyway, check it out!

Will post some real songs in the future, this was just an experiment.

Got a Soundboard recording of our set today at Taste of Grand Rapids... all tracks are up. The mix is low on the keyboards (damn biased sounduys), we suck at singing, and we butchered a fifth of beethoven because we just threw it on at the end when we had extra time (and we hadn't practiced it in a month or so), but other than that, I think it's pretty solid.

Here is a gig I sat in on a few weeks back. Nothing too great, but a lot of fun. Felicia Finley is a Broadway star with a new album out. This was a live "lite" set that was being taped for some sort of publicity.

This isn't really a new song. It's a reworking of a song I wrote back in 1988 when I really was a "Jigolo"

I recently got back in touch with Alan, the original guitarist in Jigolo, who came round and recorded the lead vocals and acoustic guitar for me on this rework.

I know it's old school; it ain't gonna revolutionise music. It's a snapshot of how I felt back then and by my reckoning, emotions don't change.

All the other instrumentation is softsynth apart from the solo, done on a wx5 and vl-70.

As a musician, I always welcome criticism, that way I can learn to be better.

Now... Please rip into it!

One of the gigs I had to do this week was for a local senior livin' guide. Prolly just about time to look into a subscription. hit it

Pretty cool, well done. :thu:

The singer isnt also spot on rhythm-wise, and there is a fair amount of sibilance. Other than that, it's very good.

Big Learning Curve here.

Did the tracking, mixing, mastering, etc.

Thanks for taking a listen.

This year we have not been gigging due to the commitment of finishing the CD, butIt's done now and we are activley seeking gigs. :rimshot:

We just finished updating our press kit and have sent it out to quite a few venues. We are hoping to hear something soon.

First will be the CD release gig.

We are well practiced and ready to hit the scene again.

I'll drop you PM for the release gig.

Good luck obtaining a drummer. Your band has a good vibe. It should not be to difficult to interest someone.

Here are a couple tracks from the last Stickman CD. Totally self-produced and engineered.

First is a Band-esque power pop song (if such a thing could actually exist):

Second is a jazzy pop ballad:

Sam, I loved the atmosphere in "Paint". Also, the progression in the intro is very nice and catchy! Aaaaand, you can sing... First of all I envy everyone with a nice lead voice and secondly it reminded me very positively of Neal Morse of Spock's Bears or Roine Stolt of the Flower Kings (I dunno if you're into that kind of music, if yes, then you'll know it's a compliment ;) )

I've uploaded "Soul Cowboy" by Pat Metheny on my myspace-page.. It's a simple blues but with a very nicely syncopated melody. The band played it for the exam of the bass player and I was very fortunate to get a good recording of it.

There are tons of mistakes on my side in there, but it was a tremendous joy playing a nice in shape Yamaha C3!

Hope you enjoy!
