  1. I have been pretty satisfied for years...Kurzweil PC3K7, Mojo 61, and Traynor K4 amp,.... but all of a sudden everything is failing. First, I had to replace the output board in the mojo 61 after getting by for a few months using the headphone outs. Next my Kurzweil outputs (all 4) began acting up and I now have a PC47 on order to fill that void During our New Year's gig I heard a loud pop and my trusty Traynor K4 amp stopped making sound. Luckily, we had independent monitor mixes and I signaled the soundman to bump the keys up. Now I am debating repair of the old amp or new MS KP-610s. I just ordered a Key Largo which should arrive prior to next gig so I can replace the mixing and send to FOH functionality of the Traynor K4. We have a spare K12 I can use as a keys monitor. And lastly my old macbook pro died about 3 months ago which I use for recording applications and I'm debating replacement of that as well as the old Onyx 400F interface since it is firewire and probably not the best option when considering a new computer purchase. Going to be an expensive year.
  2. Interesting, at 38 lbs. I'd get one if it sounds good. I'm still carrying a Traynor K4 for my rig and getting older by the minute.
  3. So sorry to hear this. Such a talented good soul. Sing to the angels. RIP Jimmy
  4. Dave, Thanks for making quick work of this. Everything is sounding real good and a nice variety. When you get a chance can you edit my entry on Sound Cloud, When the Earth Was Flat, with these credits. When the Earth Was Flat â stevie b Song written by Steve Barnard Performed by Focal Point Band Steve Barnard â keys & vox Wil Hamblen â guitar & vox Eddie Slade â drums Mike Costley â guitar Tommy Saunders - bass - Thanks
  5. Not Really Sure Why I wrote this song, but it's making more sense lately.
  6. I haven't been around in a while, and just saw this thread. I contributed on the Vol 1 and would be glad to offer up another original for this round. I got one called "When the Earth Was Flat". I never really knew why I wrote this song, but its beginning to make more sense lately. I'll post a link in the Let's Hear It Thread.
  7. Ditto what Noah said. I don't post a lot, and have met some of you fine folks in person, but certainly value all the others here willing to share information and keep it up. Thanks for the history lesson as well. Can't see where you've gone until you've already been. Cheers!
  8. Nothing buggy about the VR760. I'm hoping to see a less buggy version of VR09 with sample loading and better keybed. Also Willing to pay more to have these features but just not so much as a Stage 2 or Kronos.
  9. I agree this keyboard has potential, but it never made it out of the music store for me. I still have the original VR760 which had an outstanding keybed. If Roland made a bug less version with better keybed and included sample feature of FA06 I'd be waiting on the curb for the doors to open.
  10. I have been watching this thread for a while now and appreciate the info provided. My top board is currently a VR760. The keybed appears to be the limiting factor, but as others have said it may be good enough. I only use the board for organ and snyth, so I could care less about playing subtle piano on this board. It appears I would gain a better Leslie sim and the ability to play mp3 or wav. The weight/ size could also be a plus. Has anyone done a side by side comparison with a VR760 or 700? Thanks for all the posts so far.
  11. I really wish there was a SRX with GM2, but I haven't found one. List includes: SRX banks (12 titles): SRX-01 Dynamic Drum Kits SRX-02 Concert Piano SRX-03 Studio SRX SRX-04 Symphonique Strings SRX-05 Supreme Dance SRX-06 Complete Orchestra SRX-07 Ultimate Keys SRX-08 Platinum Trax SRX-09 World Collection SRX-10 Big Brass Ensemble SRX-11 Complete Piano SRX-12 Classic EPs Expansion I have the SRX-07 and SRX-09 installed. I don't know of a GM2 soundset, but would like to be proven wrong.
  12. I agree the Stage 2 is the top contender for my purposes. My main reason for not pulling the trigger is cost. Second is my indecision regarding the compact with the right keys but no low E , verses the 76 with weighted keys for organ. My current (not so current) rig is a PC2X with the VR-760 on top. In addition to limited synth tweakability, I can't get some common FX from either board, not even from the SRX cards. These include; wind, rain, heartbeat, and clock, to name a few. Yes they are cheesy, but they work on certain songs. A couple examples are Rain/Storm on Riders on the Storm and Heartbeat/ Helicopter/ Alarm Clock on Pink Floyds - Breath/ Time. In addition, I have not purchased a Ventilator. So, I noticed the VR-09 has the GM2 sounds, rumor of a better Leslie, and more knobs. Interesting. I did have the FX on my Korg X2. Changing to the VR-760 I gained a organ clone which was worth it. I tried adding a sonic cell module but it was not worth the hassle and sold it. I regretfully resorted to some prerecorded short wav tracks which I made from sounds on the old Korg. I currently use a small DR-07 recorder for these since it can be set to stop at the end of the file and will cue up the next. I hate using a recorded track to compensate. It's just another item to manage and lacks spontaneity. So long story short, Im cheap and looking for an inexpensive fix. Probably should go down to the corner. Oooh Im already here!
  13. Thanks, I watched the video but obviously missed that. The Best thing about the VR-760; is the keybed, nice drawbars, form factor and quality construction. It gives me an adequate organ and limited Synth even with SRX Cards. I don't even bother with the pianos. Regarding the VR-09 I believe the lighter weight, synth, usb playback, editor features, and price make this a worthy "upgrade". I hope not to be dissapointed by the keybed, drawbars and somewhat limited chorus/ perussion controls (without Ipad). Can't wait to check one out.
  14. I'm quite interested. I currently have a VR-760 as a top board. This appears to have a more robust Synth engine which is very limited on the first model. I am also interested in the song play back feature for practicing. Does anyone know how this works? Can you put a memory stick in with any wave or Mp3 file and play along? This would be a nice feature for late night headphone practice.
  15. Something like the Moog effects may work to "make due". I liked the idea of the mopho also, but my current top board (VR760) does not allow splitting the outputs and I use it just as much if not more for organ. I almost ready to order the ventilator to improve the Combo organ. I have heard good results on the VK8m, and assume the VR760 has basically the same organ. I need to to dig a little depper into the controller assignments on my PC2x It looks like I can assign a slider control as a low pass filter, and another for resonance. I will try this out on some of the synth samples and see where it leads me. I wish it had a simple saw tooth sound. It has some moog sounds. The search continues.
