So looks like pianos only .anyone wanna kickstart an organ one?

losendos' organ shell from the stand construction thread:

Thanks for remembering me!

This is foldable and slots in the band van - it looks great but I'm in a Genesis tribute with all the lights, smoke etc.

You might not want to lug this around for a covers band gig.

Fake wood stage cases to make synth like clones look more B3/ A100 etc. any makers..

?

How many would buy if reasonable ?

I work at a company that works with wood and we looked at making wooden clone stands that would be about the size of a metal frame stand but look like a organ cabinet. We didn't think we could make money without selling for $600-700 .

If we had some done in china we could sell cheaper but would have to invest $30,000 . Then they would take 5 years to sell them off because the actual market of cloners that would spend $500.00 Is pretty small.

This is my custom Nord HP stand. The legs detach, the side panels fold in, and the top and front rails come if. All of it then fits in a keyboard case. http://www.flickr.com/photos/22587430@N05/11585205386/

Link didn't work Beethree, I was curious to check it out. I play second keys in a Billy Joel tribute band, and our star/bandleader has a grand piano shell to house his S80, that he brings out for bigger venuues like theatre shows, where there will be room on stage to give the band a classier look on stage and just that extra dramatic visual impact.. It looks good and of course he has gotten compliments from clueless listeners about how much greater it sounds when he uses a "real piano."

Nicely done, but I don't possess any of the practical skills to come up with something like that. I briefly looked into a grand piano shell, but the only ones I found commercially available were both heavy and expensive. I decided it wasn't worth the extra business it may or may not bring in, not to mention the pain of carrying it around with me. I think this sort of thing is fine if you're in a touring band, and have roadies. For most of us mortals, not worth the candle.

Trying again!!

my stand

This link seems to work. I guess Flickr, which I joined this morning! does not treat the URL as an image. I can upload to my file area on my website when I get home in a few days. In the meantime, check the link above and the description a couple of posts up.

Or do they go SEE the big musical circus like KISS in the olden times

Yeah, because KISS has really tamed their live show in recent years! ;):D

Those guys are still touring?

Hey Phil... do this:

When looking at your image in Flickr, click on the "Share" icon (arrow pointing up and to the right from a rectangle). This pops open a little dialog with links to Twitter, Facebook, etc. Click on the little thumbtack icon (rightmost in the row of three). That'll present you with a formed link that you can cut'n'paste directly into your post, like so:

No business in the US can sell anything made of wood for the equivalent $231.00, pay American shop help, and taxes and stay in business for long.

Thanks!!! Should be able to do it from now on. By the way, I take no credit for the woodwork, as a friend built it for me. If anyone is interested PM me and I'll put you in touch. I am having him build me a very different one for my CP4, with folding legs taken from an RMI electric harpsichord. I have no financial interest in this, by the way, but he is looking to build more.

Since when can anyone actually see the keyboard player on stage anyway? We are usually tucked in a corner in the back. I know when my bands have been videoed (numerous times, twice "professionally" on a local TV station), I'm usually relatively non existent. The camera operators usually are focused on the guitarists during my solos up until near the end of them!

You can insist on being setup stage center instead of the lead singer. Then you will be seen. Keyboardsers frequently want to be in the back with the drummer then wonder why they are ignored. Be bold. Push one of the guitar players back there and take a foreward spot. I was in a band where the drummer sang half the songs. I wanted to put him and his drums in the keylight position up front. Couldn't get him to do it.

It is also a good reason to have a large keyboard setup rather than a single, small, lightweight keyboard. I always got one end of the stage and filled it from front to back.

Another approach would be to combine the instrument with the case.

No new concept here. My first keyboard, a multivox, had a lift off lid over the keys and controls.

The Rhodes is another example.

I've toyed with the idea of combining a xk-1c with a tetra in one case with a lift off lid.

The weight of both combined in a light case could still be less than my PC2X.
