  1. I was diagnosed some time ago with 36% loss, but it was not because of loud music. Surprising, because I use a pair of Mackie Thumps on stage. and used to work with a guitarist that had a Fender Twin Reverb AND a Traynor on stage. We Were LOUD. The audiologist said my loss was hereditary because my biggest loss is at 3K, but as the tone gets higher, I can actually hear better I inherited a pair of Oticon Minis which I used for a long time from my mother-in-law. They worked OK, but would fail when I was playing an outdoor Florida gig due to sweat. I currently use Lexie B2 Powered by Bose The app that comes with them allow you to make changes to the volume, and bass/treble. Also allows you to change from full area hearing, to forward only, helpful if you're in a noisy room. They have some pretty good noise cancellation, too. But, you cannot pair them with your phone for anything other than the control app. The difference is remarkable. It is so much easier to hear with them. And since I play in church a lot, wearing headphones, they work great with them as well. Full cup headphones go over the hearing aid, and you can hear them clearly. I was on the stage once, and could hear the music minister's wife clearly, 15 rows back. Plus, they are rechargeable, so I never have them crapping out due to low battery Not what I would call cheap, but at $1K, they are worth it I had a pair that I got for around $350 at Walmart. Rechargeable, not bluetooth. Came with an app that would do a hearing test using the aide, and would then program itself to what it thought was the correct response curve. They worked pretty well, but I lost one of them during my housing debacle. I Do NOT recommend the style where the entire unit fits in your ear. They are, at least to me, uncomfortable, prone to distortion and feedback, and your speaking voice sounds like you're wearing earplugs.
  2. I know I've been gone a while, but I wanted to chime in. By the time Ian got to us on the Florida East Coast, it had weakened to Tropical Storm. The eye went about 30 miles north of my house. Specially where I am, it was nothing. Lost internet for about 9 hours and power for about 1 1/2 hours, but other than that came through unscathed. But there are a lot of people that \have lost everything
  3. Pinching the slider knobs would not work for me. When I'm playing my Hammond, or if I'm using the Hammond sounds on the PC4, I tend to grab a handful of drawbars at once. Hard to do that if they lock in place. Same reason I don't like the Nord Draw Buttons
  4. I need a little guidance here. Yesterday I took my Kurzweil PC4 out of its case for rehearsal. I noticed that one of the sliders was missing the knob. The slider is fine, the knob just came off. I was not happy to say the least So, here I am trying to find a replacement so she can be whole again, without much luck I need some help finding where I can get a replacement Any help would be gratefully appreciated
  5. Be careful with your taxes for next couple years. When you retire early you're limited on how much you can make, if you make more than the limit they nail you with taxes. Yeah, they'll take 50% tax for anything I earn over $19,000 per year. Once I'm at full retirement age, I can earn as much as I want and they'll take the normal tax rate. Actually. for every $2 over the max, which for 2022 will be $19,560, they decrease your benefit by $1. So that means that if you earn $29,560, then your benefit will drop by $5,000. Since they don't give partial checks, that means there will be months that you get NO check. The is, until you reach the calendar year of your full retirement age. So, my benefit after the cost of living increase will be around $1500 per month. So, since they are always behind a month, I will get one in January, but not in February, March, April, and possibly May. At age 65 you become eligible for Medicare. 2023 will be my full retirement year. After that, the amounts change to $1 taken out for every $3 over the minimum, which is $51,960 I hit my 65th on 2 weeks, so I'll miss a few checks this year, but not next year. I started getting checks at 62
  6. I tend to ignore texts and phone calls that come to me that I don't recognize. But sometimes it's a good thing to go ahead and answer. The other day I got a call that I figured was someone trying to get me to enroll in Medicare coverage, but I answered anyway, figuring I could at least tell them to take me off the phone list. Turns out it was my Instacart driver that was lost and could not find my apartment. So, it can be hard to say what is and is not a real call At least with texts you can see if it's bogus.
  7. Yeah, my wife loved the music, too. In fact, the 61 Wurlitzer Spinet was hers. Once I get it put together, I submit pics Finishing the move with a rental truck and a roll off dumpster today, then I can dedicate myself to locating everything I needs to get that room fully set up.
  8. For some time now I have been combining some of my retired gear, along with my stage rig into my computer to have a small studio. in an unused bedroom.. Well, I was just forced to move, as my rental home of 9 years was sold. I ended up finding a much better place, at not much more money. I had thought about taking an unused bedroom in this house and setting it up the same way. But then I realized, I have a huge room that I was not sure what to do with. It's right as you come in the front door, 23X13. So I decided to make that my music room. I will set up the studio in much the same way, but I have room for my 61 Wurlitzer Spinet, and if I find one, room for a B3 and Leslie. It's nice to actually have room if I wanted to invest in a B, or even a small grand piano I just need to figure what I want, where
  9. I'm another that has been using the same as reezekeys as well. I'll use it for my out front items, and one of those 4 outlet reels for my amps. Never a moments issue with the Furman
  10. I bought a PC4 recently, and love it. I paid 2K Had it been 2500, I would not have pulled the trigger
  11. We rehearse at our singer/percussionist's house. She has an enclosed carport that she has insulated, and works well for a rehearsal space I bring 1 keyboard, and plug directly into the K10. Quick Set up, quick tear down. Like others, I want my gear where I can get to it at all times, so I don't leave it anywhere
  12. One of my wife Cheryl's favorite songs was "Revelation Song". That song would move her in the spirit every time she heard it. I recorded a version with all the instruments, and sang it for her memorial. Very simple song, but very powerful when done right.
  13. All four people under 65 will be thrilled about this. Hey, now. I'm under 65. Well, only for another 9 months.
  14. A local health care organization that has 4 hospitals in our county actually approached ME about getting the vaccine, due to my health. I got the first March 1. At the time they went ahead and scheduled me for my second, which I got today. I just read yesterday that as of today, Florida has lowered the age requirement to 50.
  15. I'm 64 with numerous health issues that put me in the high risk I had been trying to book an appointment through Publix, CVS, & Walgreens to no avail Then I got an email from the local organization that has multiple hospitals and doctor's offices, and are very familiar with my health issues, indicating that they had gotten a supply of Moderna, and was inviting me to get the shot. The next day I got a text with the link to set up an appointment. I am scheduled to get my Second shot Monday I was very impressed with the way they did it. My appointment for the first shot was for 820 AM, and by 830 I was sitting in the observation area. I hope the second goes as smoothly
  16. Geez, I don't think I was ever able to lift 100 lbs, unless it could put its arms around me. I used to completely set up a CP-70B without assistance, including lifting the 154 pound harp onto the action. I was a LOT younger, a LOT stronger, and a LOT dumber.
  17. I really don't know what the weight is, but right around the weight of my Hammond SK-2. I have had to lift it onto the top tier of my stand from the back from a couple feet below it. So I had to lift it over my head Any thing heavier, and I would not be able to lift it. But, I don't like the board to be too light. I want them to be heavy enough to stay put if I do a monster gliss. Right now the heaviest piece I have to schlep is my cord case.
  18. I love how many were saying they were moving to Florida when they retire. I've been living here for 23 years.
  19. Let's face it. You can't Talkhimada Anything
  20. My Stage 88 had a decent tone, but the action was horrible. Extremely stiff and sluggish. You can just imagine how good I felt when I played a matinee at the club we were at using the Rhodes, and I played that night with a Yamaha CP-70B I went into a local music store yesterday looking for a specific item, and they had a Rhodes Stage 88 on sale. I played it for a little. The action felt nice and crisp, but the tone was terrible. Could not get it to bark. Although, part of the tone problem could be that it was plugged into a very underpowered Fender Deluxe, that no one had bothered tweaking. This store owner is a friend, but the main reason I buy mostly from Sweetwater.. He wanted $1600 for it.
  21. My last gig was this past Friday. Outdoor, but there were a LOT of people there. So far I've had 1 Moderna shot, the next is scheduled March 29.I got an email from the local health care organization, that has 4 hospitals, and numerous doctors. All my doctors are members of that organization. They said that since I'm 64 and have serious health issues, they wanted to make sure I got vaccinated. My appointment was 820 AM on March 1. By 830 AM I was in the observation chair. This band has had to make some changes. The bass player and guitar player quit. Guitar player for safety reasons, the bass player because he needed to get away from our drummer. So, we changed bass players. So now we have a rhythm section that is one measure away from train wreck at all times. We have a good guitarist helping out. (We went into Moving Out by Billy Joel, and the drummer was so far off, the song was unplayable) I have a couple gigs coming up at the end of the month. March 26 indoors with a really fun band, March 28 with the potential train wreck - outdoors. I commented to them that if we ever sound that bad again, I'm done I've actually gotten where I like NOT having a gig on the weekend. I like not having to leave my house. Since I work from home, I will sometimes go 3-4 days without leaving my house. I like it.
  22. I'm not concerned about the Stop function. I never use it. If I was to go with a different switch and rewire it, I would be better off just getting a replacement switch and installing in on my existing pedal. I looked at the owner manual on the Vent switch, and it looks like there are several configurations dependent on the DIP switch positions, including a 122 setting, which I believe would be the same configuration as the half moon switch. I really don't want to have to break out the soldering iron if I can help it
  23. I've been using a Neo Vent for some time now - 1st generation. I've been using my old MS Pro3TM switch, rewired to work like a half moon switch. It has been working perfectly, until recently. I think the switch has finally worn out. Yes, I can get a replacement switch, and change it, but I was thinking about replacing the pedal. I noticed that Neo has a remote switch that works with the Vent II and the Mini. Will it work in the 1st gen Vent?
  24. OK, Now I need a some help here One of my gigs is a duo, and I want to put together some rhythm tracks to play behind me. Just basic bass and drums, then I'll play along. I'm one of those that prefers to use tracks written by myself. So, I'm recording and editing the tracks MIDI using Sonar X3 Producer What I need help with is getting the PC4 to sync up with the computer and record from the computer to the onboard sequencer. I've been scouring the owner manual trying to find what I'm looking for, but to no avail. What I would like is to be able to hit the record button on the PC4, then hit play on Sonar, and have both sync up and the PC4 to record the tracks. I've been in global and made some adjustments there, and I've been in Sonar trying to make sure it is transmitting properly. BTW - For reasons mentioned earlier, I am connected using my UNO MIDI Interface. I still cannot seem to get Sonar to recognize it using USB. I just today get it working with the sound editor and controller Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
