dazzjazz
Hi all, Well I've done a handful of gigs now on the KeyB Mk3, including a 10 hour stint in a shopping mall yesterday (yes, a TEN hour jazz marathon). I am really happy with the instrument. It is just like being at home on my A100. Yesterday I used my 1962 145 (slow motors unplugged of course), the same one I used in my "first impressions" video. The gig was a ton of fun as the tone was really inspiring. My band mates have heard me plenty on the Nord C1, and they were knocked out by the KeyB. Unprompted they all identified how smooth the sound is, especially in the upper registers. During the gig I had the opportunity to experiment with key click and crosstalk levels, and found it really inspiring to be able to get so many different organ tones. Perhaps my only criticism is that the three supplied tonewheel sets really aren't that different to each other unless you're playing 88888888. No matter, the default A100 model suits me perfectly. The action is amazing too, I'm not sure which model of Fatar it is, but it is proof they can build a good one. Now I just need to get the two octave pedals and I really think I will be set for life. Could a clone really get much better than this ? I can't see how. And now for the porn.... http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff506/dazzjazz1/6BD9299D-97E1-4D26-935B-A5CA009C1D07-2793-00000226064CC655.jpg http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff506/dazzjazz1/626EA3A6-16B6-4ED0-BCB6-B6009F297103-2793-00000226112EE31C.jpg www.dazzjazz.com PhD in Jazz Organ Improvisation. Joe Muscara
Why would they repeat? This is jazz. They only played one song. "I'm so crazy, I don't know this is impossible! Morizzle
That looks awesome! Congratulations! Funny to see the sheet music, I also played "Sweet Sue" on an organ gig yesterday. It was only five hours, though It's not a clone, it's a Suzuki.

dazzjazz
My 145 is a 1962, and my 45 (the bomb) is 1961. The amp in that one runs quite high current, and apparently that has something to do with its killer tone. www.dazzjazz.com PhD in Jazz Organ Improvisation. We all get a little punch drunk at times during that gig, we've done it several times now. I'd do it every week. B3Nut
The 145 would have to be at least mid 1963, as the Leslies with Chorale rolled in mid-year that year. The single-rotor 125 was the first Leslie with chorale, interestingly. 122, 147, 145, and 251 followed. That's a seriously-nice clone rig. Did you build that half-pedal controller? And hats off to you for doing a 10-hour stint. Move over Bruce Springsteen! :-D TP --- Todd A. Outkaster
I was looking at the picture and signature. A 45 Leslie only has one set of Luevers on the top doesn't it? "Danny, ci manchi a tutti. B3Nut
45 has two sets of louvers up top. 44W was the only shorty with one set like the 21H, as well as being the only shorty with a field-coil woofer. It was originally made for the Wurlitzer organ and has the 6W pinout like the 147-type Leslies have. 20 watts, four 6V6's...similar to the base 21H amp. Interestingly, the 46W (predecessor to the 47, standard-height cabinet) had two sets of louvers, and supposedly the last 21H's made had two sets, but I've never seen one. TP --- Todd A. As for the pedal controller, it's made by a guy call Jeremiah Yocom. Don't think he is still doing them. www.dazzjazz.com PhD in Jazz Organ Improvisation. Craig MacDonald
It's amazing how you can put together pedals from Yokum, bench from hammond, stand from K&M (I think), organ from KeyB and Leslie from Leslie, and have it all fit together so nicely and look so cool. I expect that most of us cloners are extremely envious! The exception being those persons with a mojo on a K&M 18810 with an adjustible DW stool, and Roland pk5 pedals, and twin QSC K10's.. We're only mildly envious. ;-) Craig MacDonald Hammond BV, Franken-B (A100 in a BV cabinet), Leslies 122/147/44W, Crumar Mojo, HX3 module, Korg Kronos, VR-09, Roland GAIA, Burn, Ventilator

Franz Schiller
Cool! Do you use the iPad for charts or soft synths? dazzjazz
When the Nord C1 came out, Jeremiah Yocom started chopping console pedals into one-octave sets, and installing MIDI on them. He advertised on YouTube. At the time, they were the only reasonably priced option for me, who was a beginner on pedals and needed the console size. They are very reliable and adjustable. My only gripe is I can never get them in the exact position like they are on a Hammond. That, and being only one octave, the expression pedal sits in a weird spot. I'm going to upgrade to 2octaves soon. They have been great for my pedal playing, even if I just do the tapping thing 50% of the time. I use the iPad for iReal Book. I know enough tunes for 10 hours. But the singer does some pretty mouldy tunes at times that I don't know. Good stuff though. www.dazzjazz.com PhD in Jazz Organ Improvisation. You know, I wouldn't mind a MOJO either, especially for the times I do some tiny cafe gigs. The KeyB might take up too much real estate. As I wrote before, the 3 tonewheel sets aren't that different to each other except on 88888888. So you MOJO owners have some more flexibility there. I'm not much of a tweaker, I basically get the sound right for the room and leave it. The KeyB has all that available on the left cheek block. I am one happy cloner these days. www.dazzjazz.com PhD in Jazz Organ Improvisation. BMus (Hons) Jazz Piano. my YouTube is Jazz Organ Bites 1961 A100.Leslie 45 & 122. MAG P-2 Organ. Kawai K300J. Randy Skolnik
Cool rig! I love those bass pedals. I just got a "Ventilator" and I want to thank everyone that talked it up last week. I can't beat the 10 hour gig, but I did give myself an extended concert of every organ solo that I've ever played in my life. I couldn't get any discount on the Vent, but I got them to bump me up to next-day shipping, which turned out even better!!! Randy Skolnik
