  1. I have two ZLKs I got from sweetwater that have been great as keyboard monitors.
  2. More trouble than they are worth..Good musicians or not.
  3. I they are terrible, at least for me. It doesn't even matter how much you get paid either: 1. The band always benefits more than you do 2. Often they make you practice songs they don't end up doing. 3. Spending too much time on songs you might not even play 4. They forget to tell you key changes. 5. Their arrangement is fucked up and they don't play songs like they are recorded. I know these are extreme cases, but I don't like one offs unless the band is really polished or organized. I have experienced this with good bands over the years so I try to avoid them.
  4. Parrots aren't really good pets, especially cockatoos, they are so high maintenance as pets. There is a lot of shorts on YouTube about these birds lately.
  5. The problem with high end pianos as they are out of the reach financially for most players. My neighbor teaches lessons and is a classically trained viola player. She teaches piano on the side. I was talking to her yesterday, and she got an M or Model O Steinway for 10 grand from a couple that was moving. It was a great deal but that doesn't happen for most people.
  6. Yeah its really too bad.
  7. I just thought it was so much more deep then the Beato interview in the other thread.
  8. This is so much better than the Michael McDonald interview: Billy Joel
  9. I was disappointed with this interview. Not because of Michael or anything, but there wasn't any talk about influences, chord choices, or anything really that musical. I was surprised as I expected more. He played maybe two times. A lot of this interview was stuff most people know about him.
  10. If you have a real Leslie then it's the tone of the clone that matters.
  11. I understand that. This is place is a lot tamer than it has been in the last 15 years. The transpose button thread in 2015 was the last thread that was really bad
  12. I don't see anything negative in this thread really?
  13. I didn't see where this thread got out of hand
  14. Howard's Restore. Grey are you on the Hammond Technicians forum on Facebook? It's a tough crowd but good information.
  15. Well, I was told at 16 I wasn't conservatory material and not good enough.
  16. For the record I wasn't suggesting sewing machine oil. I just meant the viscosity is similar. Hammond oil is the best to get.
  17. Well it's almost like a sewing machine viscosity oil. A lot of arguments for when you are supposed to oil I try at least once a year. I don't play the B3 in our back room a lot honestly. It's an electro-mechanical instrument. A lot of seized up generators happen if it's not oiled. Sometimes guys will find old Hammond consoles and the generators require a lot of oil and time to sit for the oil to work it's way in to the tonewheels. I don't know too many people taking them apart unless there is an issue or for a restoration. Leslie's on the other hand need their motors oiled. They are easy to remove and sometimes need new oiling, tires, bearings are to be calibrated.
  18. Rick graduated with some friends of mine. My buddy taught him guitar and knew when Rick was 15 that he'd be a great musician, I know Rick's brother who is also a great guitar player.
  19. Saw him last year at our jazz festival. A lot of the crowd wasn't interested in him, but he is an amazing talent. Lots of musicians were there though. He changed a lot of his songs off the Way it Is from 1986 when i saw him last summer. I remember being amazed the first time I heard him freshman year of college. Over the years I kind of lost touch with his music.
  20. Roy Bittan, Bill Payne, Chuck Levell. Neal Dighty (spelling). There are a ton of guys.
