  1. Who is gigging/touring with a rig made up of all keyboards from one company? Someone with a small set up I would guess? Nord endorsees?
  2. There is a big discussion about this here:
  3. Another nice performance from Glasper and crew.
  4. Tiny Desk bringing the heat once again.
  5. Beato is for hardcore music nerds not the general public (I am one of those music nerds). He doesn’t have all the archival footage or the ability to make content that non-musicians can appreciate. I was able to watch this with my girl as well as pass it on to my dad and they both quite enjoyed it. Different mediums for different audiences.
  6. Did anyone actually watch the documentary? It’s quite flattering for all involved and a nice tribute to this era of music making.
  7. Nate Smith has my favorite new YouTube music series. Performances in all three episodes so far are killin’!
  8. This was a nice surprise. Mike Clark is definitely in my top 10 drummers of all time list. Great to see him still laying it down.
  9. Some nice grooves from Black Puma's keyboard player, JaRon Marshall + Collective.
  10. This content is clearly in good fun and you can tell JB is just riffing and having a good time. Some folks are taking these Pianote videos way to seriously. I think Batiste is great. I find the energy he brings to his music and performances really earnest and refreshing. I put this one on for the Thanksgiving festivities and everybody loved it!
  11. How did you learn to play the blues if you were never made aware of the pentatonic scale? I started with guitar and the pentatonic scale was the first thing that got me going.
  12. Doubling down on being an armchair quarterback just reinforces my original comment. I don’t agree that everyone is “entitled” to negatively critique those who far outshine their own personal achievements. I actually find it to be one of the most off putting traits that people have wrapped their identities in now that the internet and social media gives anyone who can type and string a few words together a platform to criticize. It’s a funny word “entitled”. A lot of ego wrapped up in that if it’s meant to somehow legitimize an opinion that isn’t backed up by personal prowess. Someone stating “I know a dozen players who are better than the guy who is also better and more accomplished than I am” means absolutely nothing. Can anyone who can type and has an internet connection post their completely subjective non-factual opinions? Absolutely, go nuts! Does that mean the words they type have any actual value to anyone other themselves? Nope. Honestly, I just don’t get the motivation to go on a thread started by someone who wants to share a piece of music that they enjoyed and then crap on it. It’s just an odd impulse to me. Those saying, “Hey this just isn’t my jam”, I can get down with that even though personally, I just wouldn’t comment at all. Stating it’s “cringy” and “lame” you better be ready to back that up with some serious skills. If you’ve got those skills, by all means let’s hear it. I love hearing real talent. I stand by my original comment and would love for someone to post an example of how they themselves would reinterpret Fur Elise in a manner that puts Batiste to shame. You do that and you’ve got my attention and respect. You say it’s cringy and lame and then state you know other players who are better is meaningless to me.
  13. It’s kinda funny how it’s always the people who don’t have an impressive career or twenty Grammy nominations and five Grammy wins who always know how it should’ve been done LOL.
  14. The Bad Plus featuring some great playing from pianist Orrin Evans.
  15. This is the first piano I've demoed in Pianoteq that might sway me to dive in. Seems like a good sign of things to come.
