  1. Sounds like an awesome reason for a road trip! Looking forward to your review.
  2. Conte gave an interesting talk about social media and the challenges of navigating changes made by various platforms recently at SXSW.
  3. Or do what you’re passionate about, watch that build you a million strong subscriber fan base which then enables you to record and tour doing what you love. Nah, I guess your idea of not doing it at all makes way more sense.
  4. I took a few bass lessons from Nick Campbell. He’s got groove for days.
  5. Wow, what a small world! I did some filming of Nick and his wife in their band Volt Per Octaves some 15 odd years ago. Really nice folks with some cool tunes. Good to see him involved with the Rhodes gang.
  6. I saw Scary Goldings here in L.A. with Scofield sitting in and Will Lee on bass. Killer show! Love how Conte and crew have zero ego when they hit the stage and happily support the older guard like Goldings and Scofield while at the same time giving them the platform to connect with a younger and more diverse audience then some of their other projects might allow. Nothing but respect for those guys.
  7. For only $13,945 you too can save the planet!
  8. Nice to hear so many different opinions. I actually started some photoshop mock ups of how all that empty space on the left could be used but didn't want to start bashing Arturia. Some initial thoughts were great spot for a tv dinner if the bar doesn't give you free food, a whiskey flight to keep you and your bandmates happy, a joint rolling station if your state permits that sort of thing, etc. I suppose your idea to put an iPad there is more productive though. Look forward to hearing your review once you finally have one in your set up!
  9. First review from the field that I've seen.
  10. I think the message would have more impact if they were committing to this partnership on all of their models moving forward. Otherwise just feels like a publicity stunt. I'm with you all that it's a fine looking instrument though. Hope it does well for them.
  11. I want to like it, I really do but all I can see is that tiny screen and big empty space where drawbars and other controls could've been added. Looking forward to some real world reviews after people have been gigging with it a while.
  12. At least they have a sense of humor about all of the Nest jokes. 😁
  13. What’s with all the empty real estate to the left of the thermostat wheel? Are the brains under there so no room for additional sliders/controls etc? Just seems odd to ship all these great synths with so many controllable parameters and then have so few controls at the ready.
  14. All of the D keys on my MKII 61 turned yellow. Maybe they’re officially announcing this as a cool “retro” feature in the MKIII?
  15. First heard Casey Benjamin with the Robert Glasper Experiment and have enjoyed much of his music over the years. Way too young to pass with so much more music to be made. RIP to another talent gone. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/casey-benjamin-saxophone-keys-player-robert-glasper-dead-1234997166/
  16. Who are you directing this at exactly? If it's me, don't try and put words in my mouth that I never said or twist my comments to accuse me of disparaging VV by equating them with "common scammers". I never said any such thing and I don't see where anyone else did either. I started this thread because I've long admired VV but their instruments are out of my reach price wise. I guess I was naive but I was really excited when they announced this new "more affordable" model thinking it might be closer within reach financially so excuse me if I'm a little bummed that they advertised it as such and then didn't deliver on that point. I will continue to admire them from afar and certainly wish them continued success. Just disappointed is all.
  17. They hyped this new model as “more affordable than ever” and “MORE TONE, LESS COIN!”. It’s $200 less than the Basic 73. Am I missing what the huge savings is? Are there specs about this one that offer even more value then the basic 73 making it a substantial increase in value? Genuinely asking as I’m just confused about why they hyped the more affordable pricing. Figuring either there are technical aspects I don’t understand or maybe $200 less is considered a big savings for people in a higher tax bracket than myself who were already going to drop $6950 for the basic 73. 🤷‍♂️
  18. I fell for the hype unfortunately. The Classic 73 is $6950 so I guess being $200 cheaper really does make it “more affordable than ever” if $6850 was just out of reach for anyone. 🙃
  19. *** I see some of you already posted the info. Wasn't seeing those posts for some reason so apologies for the duplicate info Well here it is: VV Marquis '73 I guess $6,750 is their idea of "more affordable”. Very disappointing considering how they hyped it. I'm sure it's a nice instrument but another offering that will be out of range for many musicians. Models and Pricing- Marquis 73 Passive-$6,750.00 (Bass Cut, Volume Control. No Active Electronics, No Power Needed) Marquis Passive With Variable Voice Control $8349.00 Marquis 73 Active With Variable Voice Control - $8,649.00 (Active StereoVibe Preamp) MIDI - +$1,850.00
  20. I keep it covered with an On Stage dust cover when not in use. Don't think that would've caused just the D keys to yellow but possibly? Yep, that's what I'm doing.
  21. Are you talking about the Essential or the MKII? I dont find the MKII to be slow but I'm not an advanced player so YMMV.
  22. Now we're getting to the bottom of it. A mere coincidence that he too is yellow? I think not!
