  1. Looks like a fun synth! In depth review from Loopop:
  2. Sweet, now I know where all the missing controllers on the AstroLab went! 😆
  3. Sounds cool! If you feel like posting any videos of how you end up using your new set up, I'd certainly be interested in checking it out.
  4. Yeah they misfired on this one but it's really not a big deal and is being blown way out of proportion imo. No idea how many people were upset that things were being crushed (again these vids get millions of views on social) but the majority of the backlash being featured in news articles was from artists/writers/musicians/actors who have all been very vocal about AI and topics like copyright infringement, ownership of digital likeness, etc. Per Apple "following trends", every single company and most individuals promoting a product or agenda are now dialed into social media and for better or worse are being influenced by trends while trying to capitalize on them. I would argue "for worse" but there's no going back at this point.
  5. Videos of crushing things have been hugely popular on the socials. It’s easy to see how the marketing people came up with an idea they thought would highlight the slim design while cashing in on this trend. I guess the backlash means they missed the cultural zeitgeist on this one but I don’t think this speaks to Apple having nefarious intentions as much as it speaks to the fear that many people have about their jobs being replaced by AI. With everything going on in the world right now, the backlash to this ad really seems like much ado about nothing.
  6. New Tiny Desk from Kiefer. Diggin' the vibe when Nate Smith gets behind the kit!
  7. Yeah I use it with Procreate, Procreate Dreams, Fresco and Illustrator mainly for motion design. I guess there's nothing about those updates that would significantly improve my current workflow and get me to throw down $169. Maybe if I try it out I will feel differently but like yourself, I'm not updating to the latest iPad so it's a moot point. I think Brownlee does a good job of echoing what most of us are feeling about these new "upgrades".
  8. Just curious what makes the Pencil pro so intriguing to you? I don’t see anything about it that makes me want to upgrade from the current Apple Pencil. Maybe I’m missing something?
  9. I would be cautious about making this move based on what you think Apple is going to do. I was using Logic way back when eMagic owned it. When Apple took over, users rejoiced expecting massive improvements and a deep investment by the development team which would surely be right on the horizon. It took them years to give users what they were hoping for and it became clear to me during that time that Logic is not a huge priority for Apple. Just some food for thought before making a leap you might regret.
  10. I hadn’t heard of him, thanks for sharing! I get the usual suspects that have already been mentioned in this thread in my YouTube and IG feed but had not heard of Whitaker until now. It’s nice to know that the algorithm hasn’t completely replaced human to human interactions.
  11. Sounds like an awesome reason for a road trip! Looking forward to your review.
  12. Conte gave an interesting talk about social media and the challenges of navigating changes made by various platforms recently at SXSW.
  13. Or do what you’re passionate about, watch that build you a million strong subscriber fan base which then enables you to record and tour doing what you love. Nah, I guess your idea of not doing it at all makes way more sense.
  14. I took a few bass lessons from Nick Campbell. He’s got groove for days.
  15. Wow, what a small world! I did some filming of Nick and his wife in their band Volt Per Octaves some 15 odd years ago. Really nice folks with some cool tunes. Good to see him involved with the Rhodes gang.
  16. I saw Scary Goldings here in L.A. with Scofield sitting in and Will Lee on bass. Killer show! Love how Conte and crew have zero ego when they hit the stage and happily support the older guard like Goldings and Scofield while at the same time giving them the platform to connect with a younger and more diverse audience then some of their other projects might allow. Nothing but respect for those guys.
  17. For only $13,945 you too can save the planet!
  18. Nice to hear so many different opinions. I actually started some photoshop mock ups of how all that empty space on the left could be used but didn't want to start bashing Arturia. Some initial thoughts were great spot for a tv dinner if the bar doesn't give you free food, a whiskey flight to keep you and your bandmates happy, a joint rolling station if your state permits that sort of thing, etc. I suppose your idea to put an iPad there is more productive though. Look forward to hearing your review once you finally have one in your set up!
  19. First review from the field that I've seen.
  20. I think the message would have more impact if they were committing to this partnership on all of their models moving forward. Otherwise just feels like a publicity stunt. I'm with you all that it's a fine looking instrument though. Hope it does well for them.
  21. I want to like it, I really do but all I can see is that tiny screen and big empty space where drawbars and other controls could've been added. Looking forward to some real world reviews after people have been gigging with it a while.
  22. At least they have a sense of humor about all of the Nest jokes. 😁
  23. What’s with all the empty real estate to the left of the thermostat wheel? Are the brains under there so no room for additional sliders/controls etc? Just seems odd to ship all these great synths with so many controllable parameters and then have so few controls at the ready.
