  1. Ed, Just read this thread. I think Adan,Math and Oldno7 said it best. My heart goes out to you.
  2. Steve, Thanks for alerting us to this. Great stuff. I could have stood a couple of hours more. Before reading Rick’s books I erroneously assumed he’d be something of a stuffed shirt or egotist given the level of his playing. Boy was I wrong. Like apple I would have liked to hear him comment on Tony Kaye’s work on the first three albums. Though their approaches were quite disparate I’ve always been a fan of both.
  3. I guess it’s not an MPN issue since I just had the same thing happen on a tapatalk forum. Been getting it a lot here on both IPad and IPhone. Not always but a lot. P.I.T. A.
  4. Thank you both. I assumed it would be ok but I’m not immune to assuming incorrectly.
  5. Among a few other folks ,I know Jim A. Probably has the knowledge I’m seeking. I’d like to know if there is any reason not to run a 1/4 TRS out of the headphone jack of my romper to a 1/8 trs male into the aux input of the SK Pro. It would give me the hotter signal I’m looking for compared to running from the R/L outs. Should I be concerned with impedance matching or level mismatch? I don’t want to mess up either instrument, especially the SK. Thanks.
  6. Been following since the beginning. Stellar.
  7. Yeah Rob,I Googled him ages ago and though I’ve never been there was aware of Killer Shrimp. Apparently it has been very successful. Maybe I should have been clearer as I had been looking for musical endeavors and until the last few years he hadn’t had much coverage. The last thing I could find regarding musical activity was an early 80’s (?) article in Keyboard mag that told of him appearing in a Cal. nightclub with a clear plexiglass Gleeman Pentaphonic synth in a shopping cart. He billed himself as Pay Toilet. Can’t say he didn’t have a sense of humor. Now thanks to his podcast the stories are starting to surface. He had quite an enviable musical career.
  8. Doug was one of my early combo organ heroes. The guy could really play. Some of his lines are real finger twisters. Also, unlike many of the adolescent ,adenoidal or shriekingly high rock singers of the time ,he had a very sonorous, ballsy baritone voice. I hope he knew what an influence and inspiration he was. Allow me to salute Doug with a hearty “hep hep.”
  9. Been a LM fan since ‘68. Until recently accurate information about him has been scarce. He seemed to have disappeared since ‘80 or so. Untrue rumors of total deafness have persisted for many decades. I’ve watched every episode of his podcast and it’s great to see him so ebullient at age 78. Seems like a very cool guy. This was an especially good episode.
  10. This is so great. I became a huge Lee Michaels fan upon hearing Carnival Of Life for the first time in 1968. Followed his career until he retired. In ensuing decades I would periodically try to find out what he was up to but info was pretty scarce and sparse. Mostly what I could find was that he was really deaf and was loathe to talk about his music. I also read in Keyboard mag that he had come onstage in some club in CA. with a Gleeman Pentaphonic synth in a shopping cart and performed under the name Pay Toilet. The aforementioned is why I’m so glad to see him resurface as an apparently happy guy who is obviously not stone deaf. Been watching his podcast and he cracks me up. Seems like a really good guy. Having played a bunch of his material through the 70’s I can truly say he was a real inspiration and musical hero to me. Eight or ten years ago my first real working band from ‘69 through ‘73 did a reunion show that included Hello at my insistence. Lee, thank you for being one of those who showed so many keyboard players the way.
  11. Jim, Thank you so much for the comprehensive post explaining how you changed the SK2 to an internal power supply. I’ll bet it will benefit more than just yours truly. Dave Bryce, having read this entire thread I’ve come to the conclusion that you have the patience of a saint. Many thanks for all you do.
  12. Hey Jim, You mentioned converting your SK2 to an internal power supply a few posts back. Might you care to elaborate on what that entailed? I’m wondering about location, method of fastening, what ps was used, overheating risks, keeping a jack open to use an external ps if the internal one craps out, and any other info you could provide. This is something I would love to do to my SK2. Out of my three H/S clonewheels the SK2 is the only one with an external supply and as you know, it’s a pain. Thanks.
  13. His Hammond sound changed my life. I had the good fortune to see Spooky Tooth and a few years later his keyboard heavy Dream Weaver band which opened for Frampton. In both he was great. Better yet,I got to meet the man and have a brief chat following his one man ( plus accompanist) show.. That was about 2014. That was a different but good show. He came across as a nice, mellow guy.
  14. Another ATH M50 fan here. When the earcup foam started to break down on mine I replaced it with extra thick foam earcup pads. Very comfortable.
  15. 100% greatness indeed. Thanks for posting this. Long time Brian Auger fan here. At an age when most have long since hung it up he just keeps growing. Seems like a regular guy who happens to be a musical genius. Dr. Mix’s apparent hero worship is well founded.
