Hey there! I'm thinking about using some iPad sequencers with my Kurzweil PC4-7. I'm considering trying a bluetooth MIDI adapter, such as the Yamaha MD-BT01. If that works out well, I'd likely try using it for controlling iPad synth apps, too. Anyone have any experience with these? Is latency an issue? Not so bad? Thoughts, opinions? Thank you!

Although this isn't perfect, I have to give them credit, I really like the concept of a V Collection sounds without a computer. I wonder if a workaround for low polyphony is to program all the splits and layer into the patch on the computer side of things.

Totally agree. I think the OP needs something vaguely synthy to dip toes in the water. Yeah maybe Nautilus is too much money for a total beginner. What about an older rompler like a Roland XP-30? Should have some general Moog-y sounds for leads, and other decent pads. Doesn't need the most amazing acoustic piano.

A Bowen Solaris is NOT recommended for a beginner, that synth is a bazillion dollars. Not sure why you guys are recommending vintage keyboards like a DX7 and a Triton to a beginner. On the other hand, the Nautilus makes sense!

I lusted after an SH-5 for many years. But nowadays, my memory (as in my actual brain) is not stellar, so it's hard to justify a preset-free synth. (But not impossible.)

If you're buying a piano, don't you need actual piano movers? It seems like there are kind of too many logistics to be a scam if the seller and you need to agree to a moving date where a contractor needs to show up. Really, very few piano buy actual acoustic pianos in 2024, so I bet that you were the only interested party. And if the piano has some sentimental weight to it, the Mom might just want it to go to a good home where it's going to be used and loved. I think this is a spoiler for a TV show, so do NOT look it up.

As a big fan of Wendy Carlos, I bought the CD box set used off of eBay many years ago. I also have several of Ms. Carlos' album on vinyl, including the record with all the covers on it, including "What's New Pussycat" which was the first Wendy Carlos song I ever heard, and it blew my mind.

Hey just my opinion. I'm not suggesting anybody stop enjoying his stuff just because I think he's annoying. Also, because he is a fantastic musician, that doesn't disqualify him from being "too much." Besides, why should anyone care what I think? I'm not trying to change anyone else's feelings, just seeing if anyone else is annoyed by this guy. No reason anyone should try to change my feelings. Although I guess it's fun for us to try, regarding such an inconsequential topic.

This is really cool. I love Sequential! However, I have to say that Dr. Mix is such a spazz I personally find him difficult to watch. I couldn't even get through his review of the Roland Fantom. Like when you go over someone's house, and they have a 200 pound dog who keeps jumping on you; I just don't dig that over-the-top energy. That said, I understand that other people like him and that's cool for them.

I am pretty surprised by all the vitriol here over a mere YouTuber. Usually this forum is a very pleasant place. I totally agree with Rollins observations about pervasive negativity. Although I don't love some of his click bait titles, I gotta give the guy respect for being so passionate and knowledgable. He clearly knows his stuff. And I certainly have learned things from him. Does he cater to everyone at every level? Heck no. You can't be all things to all people. And considering how jazz is honestly dying a slow death, I think it's awesome that Beato is stirring up some love for it again. Any interest he can generate for the jazz art form must be welcome, right? RIGHT?!?! So what if he hocks his ear training course? So what if he has some clickbait thumbnails? Beato is clearly trying to make a living (money) by make YouTube videos. He's not deceiving us. It costs money to hire camera crews to interview Sting, or Seal, or whoever. Where do you think that money comes from? Did you know that he can't make money from the interview videos, because playing the artists' songs (like "Don't stand so close to me") will get his video removed? So his most popular videos are demonetized. Anyway, based on comments on his pages, there is a ton of positive, enthusiastic musicians/people who get a lot out of his videos. Or a little. I certainly enjoy the interviews.

As someone who has the cream SV2, I can give you my opinion. It's very natural for people to respond in varying ways to shape and color. Consider cars or guitars. The shape, color, aesthetics of guitars are very important to those who play them. (Also, women!) It would make sense that keyboard instruments are similar. Some are just so good looking, they become inspiring. Ok, sure, maybe some folks are fine with a black slab. So while I have a PC4 for splits, layers, and all the sophisticated stuff, when I just want to enjoy the experience, the SV2 is just a beautiful experience. So, yeah, I guess I like the look of the cabinet.

Hey gang, For those with PC4-7s, what are you using for a case? Soft case? Flight case? Semi-rigid case? There seems to be a wide disparity between a cheapo fabric case and a wildly expensive flight case. I'd love something in the middle, if it exists, with some padding and structure, but nothing crazy. I searched our existing PC4-7 threads and couldn't readily find a solution discussed. Thanks!

Yes, I've had some great experiences selling gear here. HOWEVER, if you don't want to ship, and you only want to deal locally, that limits your prospects a lot. Whenever I've failed to sell something here, I usually have better luck selling locally on Facebook Marketplace.

That's a great question. If they want to fill the 61-key hole, why wouldn't they simply make a PC4-61. Maybe the nomenclature bugs me. Why not a K2761? Also, Kurzweil used to have cool sounding names. The K2000 has an impressive air to it. The PC3 or the PC4 sounds good. Even the K2700 has a nice ring to it. The K2061...meh, not so much. I think that as musicians, the way words SOUND to us, is actually important. It's part psychological, and part marketing.

So it's a K2000 update?!?!? And not a 61 key K2700??!?! That's ....uh.... odd. But okay sure!

It's so weird...I LOVE IT!!! Definitely seems like a tricked out SV2. Which sounds great to me. I agree with you all, I'd prefer a 73 key version (that's lighter).
