    • I know if the right Yamaha SY99 comes my way, I will gladly dump all the other ‘lesser’ Yamaha FM boards I picked up along the way! So yeah, flagships are the ones to look for! But for new gear? No way. Like with a new car, I get the model just below the top grade. Most of the benefits, save a lot of money.
    • A hub like this really is the only solution I found for my iPad. About $30-40 online. I use a similar USB-C hub with a magnetic backing I added to it. I also like extra USB inputs in the hub, as it makes it so easy to add old synths ad-hoc using MIDI DIN -> USB cables. The HDMI output is nice to connect to my wall-mounted monitor for a bigger screen when at home so I can take my damn glasses off. I also prefer a magnetic USB-C connector to my iPad to avoid damaging the iPad’s USB-C port from repeated stress.
    • I use simple PCM2704 based USB audio interfaces (can be found on several chinese websites). I even build a 4 output aggragated audiocard from these from my Macbook to play stereo backing tracks with click-track. Sound great, are small, are cheap and you cannot mess with settings or volumes. I compared it with the audio out of my Macbook Pro, and did not hear any quality loss. I use one on my iPad mini 6 setup via a powered USB-C hub. Because I also connect my synths via USB Midi I did get some noise and that was handled by adding a adum3160 digitaal signal audio power isolator before the USB audio interface. Also available on Chinese websites. It's a kind of DI box for USB. Good Luck!
    • Wow, I don’t remember seeing this clip before. Skunk Baxter and Denny Dias on the same stage = guitar heaven! As much as I love the horns on the original I didn’t miss them in this performance.
    • Thanks for sharing your experience! It's always a learning process with tools. Glad you found a solution, and good luck with your future projects!

    • I remember seeing the ads in Keyboard and a picture of the Odyssey on the Musicians Friend catalog. I really wanted one but ended up with the MiniMoog because it was available. In the late 70's you didn't have a lot of choices in a small rural town. Was very interested when this came out but reviews of the horrible touch pads scared me away. Wish it had more jacks for interfacing with the Behringer 2600. Still, maybe someday. Wonder how it compares to the Korg version?
    • Carlo, you make that Oddy sound fabulous! I have a black-face Oddy and Axxe in my garage, have had both since the '80's, and both need new sliders, probably new caps, and a ton of cleaning. But hearing you play it made me feel nostalgic for that sound! Given the price of the Behringer, it'll probably be cheaper to just buy a new one than to fix mine.
    • OT - just a comment on the original white face Oddy - I modified mine so I had an octave up/down switch. Also changed the pitch knob to one which had a notch sticking out so that I could curl my little finger round it and be confident that I could return it to the neutral position. And I managed to rewire the modulation slider on the first oscillator so that the second oscillator modulated too. It was all very ambitious of me, with not much real understanding of what I was doing, but it worked nicely. i hung onto it for years, only selling it off about 10 years ago. Nowadays I occasionally use the app on the iPad. It’s close enough for me.
