analogika
That's some great pop music, right there. Love the arrangement and the key sound design! The audio engineer side of me is freaking out at the video - I never got over the cognitive dissonance of that room and the very first super-compressed, gated drum hits (or the piano). I'm still laughing at myself for that, though. What are we hearing in the instrumental break? Sounds cool. 3. Are you engaged to the lead actress yet?

MathOfInsects
I may have posted the audio version of this song when it came along, though I don't see it here. This was the first project (and first recording) I did "after" the pandemic (by which I mean, when, comically early in the pandemic, we all thought it was over). The studio is about an hour away, and I spent the drive pep-talking myself that playing after a year off would be fine, it's not like we'd start with a piano solo or anything. I get there, sit at the Yamaha upright grand, we start tracking this song first. IV-I. I can do that! Then we get two minutes in and the producer says, of course...."Maybe a piano solo right here?" Anyway, the video for it came out yesterday. A friend made the lyric video; she's really talented, so if you're interested in going that way, and like this, let me know and I can put you in touch with her. 3 Quote Now out! Doug Robinson
I could not be a whole lot more excited to present my brand new band, MO’ RITMO! The guitar player is from El Salvador and now lives in Mexico City. The Drummer is in the state of Hidalgo, the bass player in the state of Queretaro and the percussionist and I live in San Miguel De Allende. We literally had two rehearsals, and one of them was the afternoon of this entire show. But everyone did their homework. We played another concert Saturday night in another town and it was a smashing success. if you’re in the mood, my synth solo on my new king Korg in the third song called “Dale Ale” is one of my favorite solos ever caught on video. We’re all very close friends, especially after two gigs this weekend and staying in my house. I’ve been wrong before but I think this one’s gonna stay together and keep growing. Every single player has moments of being the very best guy in the band. https://fb.watch/fu6T4Z-VhX/ Quote Doug Robinson www.dougrobinson.com
16251
My latest solo piano update to ignore. If you don't know by now, I just hit record and play. Someday, maybe I'll write out an arrangement. Quite frankly, I find diving into the unknown is more fun. MathOfInsects
The second (?) in what is about to become an ongoing series of tracks I played on this year, for different artists, as everyone's pandemic material was poured into sessions which are now resulting in songs and albums coming out. There's another single from another artist coming in a few weeks as well, so fair warning. Plus eventually I'll post my own pandemic album as well, after I finish getting through the THIRTY(!) songs I tracked for it. Anyway, this is from a session I want to say we did last December. I played on this singer-songwriter's first album; this is the second single from his soon-to-be-released follow-up. He had everyone, including back-up singers, all there and recording at the same time. Organ solo at 2:00 if you keep track of such things. mauriziodececco
And, for something different, at least for me: with my group Komalea we just published some ambient/electro tracks on soundcloud; we are far to be professionals, but we have a lot of fun; fretless bass, sax/groove box, and me on the keyboard (MODX) Quote Nord Wave 2, Nord Electro 6D 61,, Rameau upright, Hammond Pro44H Melodica. MathOfInsects
Another week, another single I played on. Everyone's catching up with their pandemic material. I skipped one from last week, maybe I'll catch up with it later. I'm Wurly and organ on this. She credited me with strings, and I think I did put some down for this track, but I'm not sure they are on this final mix. I think the BVs came out so great they probably didn't need another pad-dy element in there. That moment right before the song ends is sort of glorious, vocally.https://laurenleigh.hearnow.com/blackrosecanyon 1 Quote Now out! MathOfInsects
Ok, I'm sort of spamming this thread now, but I'm lucky to have been attached to some cool original projects this past year. This tune has a long organ feature in the second half. I recorded this take, including the solo, live at the basics sessions. But it was kind of a weird session, and the keys were an afterthought, and I offered to do a piano take also so they'd have everything they needed just in case. I had only heard/remembered the piano track until a new producer took over the tracks and found the organ pass in there. That's good news/bad news, in that the live energy is in there, but there are also a couple of warts and alls in the solo that to be honest I probably would have asked to have cleaned up if I'd heard this before they released it. But I like the vibe overall and think this whole album is worth a listen if you have the time. Organ feature starts at 1:30.https://joshuataylormusic.bandcamp.com/track/she-you Quote Now out!
