  1. I write my music & lyrics although admittedly the lyrics need a lot of time to gestate and sometimes get changed/re-arranged and may even end up on a totally different melody. I don't think I'd call myself a composer though.
  2. Fairly straightforward in C, not so much in B, I'm partially disabled so black keys aren't so easy for me. I still got better chops than a lot of people despite that
  3. Last time I backed out of a gig the organiser kicked me in the balls
  4. Agree totally. I just wish some other members of bands thought like you do. I don't want to do covers I feels it's not where I need to be. I'd do some but a large part of my creativity is original, and doing original material makes me a better player. Don't get me wrong, I love learning other folks licks but not to the point where it cripples my own originality, and it variably does so. Don't want to get stuck in with other people's playing, been there, done that.
  5. I would never be in a band that doesn't do its own music, I'd loose my fucking mind in a cover band. I write all my own music, melodies, lyrics - complete songs and if anyone's not on board they can fuck off. I'm not quiting, I'm kicking them out.
  6. I ended up breaking into a music shop and stole a few pedals, had to grab them quick cuz I tripped the alarm. Got 2 vents, really great
  7. I should add - the heads on here who are Hammond purists - most of them can't play. Don't know crap about piano or organ.
  8. Just jammed with a kind of makeshift band - we did George Harrison - All those years ago, we did Riders on the Storm, tried some Sheep by Floyd some Supertramp, sounded out all of them with my Voxy-baby. Just fucking around mostly suggested these and we don't sound bad. The EPs are solid. Did some CX 3 organ stuff and everyone liked it I used VR-09 before, did JGiels, black magic woman
  9. Good song and sounds great on that track too
  10. Scenes are a Godsend. When I record my original stuff, I do the verse in one scene, the chorus in another, copy and paste where needed, chain the f*ckers together and my song is done. The MODX with that upgrade, bang for the buck, is probably the greatest keyboard anyone's made in decades. You can't improve on it really for the price. The keybed is kind of not great but that's ok. At least it's not as bad as the VR-09 or that Korg monstrosity. The Kross I think.
  11. Both! Except with modelled, I need a bucket of KFC with extra gravy
  12. You're right. I took comp sci in school and learned mostly on Java....which I've used all of zero in my job, I mostly use SQL and VB/C#. I couldn't even begin to figure out anything that managed a synth library or MIDI to be honest.
  13. I don't know how you guys do it in that heat down there, I'm in Canada and it's almost 30 celsius and I can't handle it. I need a f*cking glacier to roll around on.
