That’s awesome! I live in Dallas I’d love to see your act. Let me know how to look you guys up.

Good to hear. Do you play piano accordion or button? How long did it take to feel ready to perform? Yes, the Russian teacher is a beast ! She plays both button and piano accordion at a virtuoso level. She’s a bad ass piano player too!

Here in Texas you hear a lot of accordion music in the Hispanic areas and October Feasts as well. I used to kind of resist the sound but after all these years and being happily married to Mexican lady it’s kind of grown on me , lol 😂. I decided to learn , and I’m looking to buy an accordion with keys. My ultimate goal would be able to play popular tunes solo , and join some sort of Latino/ mariachi band playing parts . Perhaps I could even double on keys in cumbia/ tropical Latín type group. I realize that the button accordion is more typical in the Latin styles, but I’ve seen a few guys playing norteña, tejano, mariachi etc to know it can done on a “ piano” accordion. I’m buying from a pro drummer friend a used Hohner 37 key 96 bass , Tango accordion that has been recently tuned. He got good enough to join a pro mariachi band that works all time, but he got a good drumming tour gig, so he selling off the accordion. I really wanna learn this instrument right, so I found a classical Russian accordion teacher. She’s hip to jazz other styles too, so I think she’ll be a very good fit. These will be in person lessons at a local college. I’m really excited about this new journey!

Maybe they have financial backers, like a record label? Perhaps they have some big festivals in the region coming up, and playing low key venues is like a warm up. Also, people that attend these venues, post about them which generates more interest in the artist’s music and keeps them in the public’s eye. I’ll be looking up their music today for sure thanks to Martin Leo’s post! -

Thanks for the review! Glad to hear they’re still at it, touring Spain . I often wonder how jazz artist even at this level actually make any money too. Must be a hard life! -
If you’re so inclined to settle down with a life partner, that person should be supportive of your musical endeavors. I had a friend who was a very good pianist. Although he played very well, he wanted to improve and keep growing, but whenever he practiced his wife would always complain, saying. ‘ why do you practice? You already know how to play the piano.”, Being a musician, even as an amateur is a time commitment, that many people don’t understand, appreciate, or even respect. Life would be quite miserable with an unsupportive partner.

Sorry to hear about your dad, and yeah, COVID messed everything up so much. I guess on line lessons are an option, but I think prefer in person. -
