Theo Verelst
where you guys get those screen names, some old more than a few new ones. Hilarious if you feel humorous, distracting for if people calling themselves all kinds of crazy names seek to be taken serous,. Now I'm aware of internet related things since, well long before the first web browser, si I suppose in certain circles, this is normal, but seriously some of those names... Supposedly most people will take the subject with a grain of salt, no need to reflect much on, so don't take it all too serious, it's just that it surprises me sometimes where people get the inspiration from. marino
I believe there already was such a thread, years ago.... Btw, in my case it's very simple to explain: Marino was going to be my name, but my parents changed their mind just before I was born, so I was called Carlo. I kind of like the sound of it, so it's been my nick on several online forums, since I first got on the Internet. (there's also a longer version of this story with a few funny details, but I'll spare you this time. )

KuruPrionz
Since a name on the Interwebz is obviously a matter of Life and Death and I am not sure about Life sometimes but I know there is Death, I chose Death. What could be better than a slow, relentless loss of function accrued through a profoundly disgusting and completely optional behavior? Nothing, there is nothing better. It is not a ritual practiced by my culture. In New Guinea they celebrate their elderly when they pass on. They are kept in the family hut, deceased and decorated with flowers. After 10-12 days or so, the skull is cracked open and the brain is eaten in hopes of passing the spirit down to the next generations. Often, this causes "Kuru-Kuru", which we know as Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease or Mad Cow disease. Then, the brain eaters become ill and die. The cause of the illness is prions, mutated protein cells. TommyRude
where you guys get those screen names.... it's just that it surprises me sometimes where people get the inspiration from. TV Thank you Theo for this important question. For me, it's a multi-stage process for my current Halloween name. 1. Needed to find something that had some basic correspondence or rhyme with my normal screen name (TommyRude). I found this was challenging as nothing very scary in nature seemed to fit the bill. I took several shots at it, and finally settled on TsunamiBlood as being a reasonable first draft. 2. I felt the new-temporary name needed to have some underlying subtext, and should have some of the same characteristics of a good brand name. 3. The inspiration could happen concurrently (not necessarily before) the draft names are identified. I landed squarely on a very important and profound cinematic masterpiece (Zombie Tidal Wave), which provided ample / topical inspiration and helped me to close the deal. GRollins
Oddly enough, my name really is Grey. The format of my forum handle is a carryover from the days when userids were limited to 8 characters, max, and spaces were not allowed. GRollins is 8 characters and avoids the pesky no-space problem. I've used the same handle for years on nearly every website and platform I've ever been on. Except for C0430, but I didn't get to choose that one... There's a bit of a story behind my first name, but we'll leave that for another day. Just know that my parents weren't the sort to name a boy something unconventional back during the '50s. Proto-hippies, they were not--particularly my father. The name Rollins, I saw somewhere, meant "wolf" in...I think it was Old English . The name Grey is a surname that means...gray, as in the color. Thus, taken literally, my name means "gray wolf," but again, my parents weren't the sort to code that sort of meaning into their son's name. I doubt it would have occurred to them to research the meaning of their last name before choosing my first name. Grey Quote I'm not interested in someone's ability to program. I'm interested in their ability to compose and play.
