Instead, they’d probably just incorporate themselves into my dreams. Perhaps dragging me back into deeper seas of sleep. So whenever I’ve used music as an alarm, it’s always been something that is something aggressive and/or dissonant. Even if it’s something I enjoy listening to, it’s not something conducive to continued somnolescence. 1 Quote Sturgeon's 2nd Law, a.k.a. Dannyalcatraz
Here’s Austin TV. To my ears, they’re somewhere between Alarmist and Elephant Gym. Visually, they’re between Los Straitjackets, Slipknot, and Heilung. 4 Quote Sturgeon's 2nd Law, a.k.a. Dannyalcatraz
I was just reading that Al Jourgenson is planning on winding down Ministry in 1-2 more albums, and that one may include reworked tracks from OR be a complete re-imagining of Ministry’s first album. For those unaware, Ministy’s first album was a minor synthpop hit, but was so at odds with AJ’s inner musician that he burned the masters at a BBQ and hasn’t listened to or played any of the songs in 40 years. if you’ve ever heard subsequent Ministry albums that pioneered industrial rock, you’d see how radically different they were. What changed? Well, not his opinion of the final product. Rather, he was taken to a show where a band did ONLY covers of that album. He saw that there was something to the songs that people liked. So he’s considering redoing those songs in his more characteristic style. 2 Quote Sturgeon's 2nd Law, a.k.a. Ivan May
One thing I enjoy about the numerous posts of @Caevan O'Shite is that he loves Scorpions. With a great singer in Klaus Meine and great guitarist in Rudolf Schenker, how can ya go wrong??
Dannyalcatraz
The Scorpions “Still Loving You” is still one of my all-time favorite songs to sing when my love life is bringing me down. And let’s not forget Uli Jon Roth, shown here laying down one of the better opening riffs in early hard rock/classic metal…and knowing full well he’s done so. (FWIW, “Sails of Charon” is another fun singalong song for me.) And if you look at performances decades later (even after the one posted below), UJR is still playing that song with casual brilliance and awareness of how tasty those licks are.* * how tasty? Let’s just say it’s one of the few songs Yngwie Malmsteen has covered in concert, and he plays it relatively straight up. 2 1 Quote Sturgeon's 2nd Law, a.k.a. I suppose- given the nature of this thread- I should have provided videos to compare. As I recall, ”Revenge” was the first single from Ministry’s first album. Compared to “Jesus Built My Hotrod”, the first single from Psalm 69, featuring Butthole Surfers’ Gibby Haynes on vocals. 1 1 Quote Sturgeon's 2nd Law, a.k.a. KTSs
I recalled my favorite tune "love to be loved by you"-Marc Terenzi. This song was also the first song I played after learning guitar, and I won't allow anyone to not have heard it. Of course, there are also some old hippie songs that are playing on a loop in my player these days.
Ivan May
Normally Bon Jovi sucks, but especially considering it isn’t overplayed and was a country crossover hit, Who Says You Can’t Go Home is probably the only Bon Jovi song I can listen to without turning off the radio.
lesmisaceventura
This week, I've been vibing to a mix of old-school hip-hop classics and some fresh indie rock tracks. Got some Tupac and A Tribe Called Quest on repeat, along with some Tame Impala and Arctic Monkeys to keep things groovy.
