  1. It is a fun thought experiment. For me, I've enjoyed owning many keyboards over the years but find it burdensome to store and maintain more than a few keyboards at a time, so tend not to look backwards. I did have a fun Wurlitzer 206 I wouldn't mind getting back, though.
  2. Just encountered this American Girl Doll electric piano. Wurlitzer styling. 13" long. 4 different sounds. Keys are super small, of course, but totally playable and polyphonic! Apparently American Girl also makes (made) a pretty good miniature upright piano, too. Anyone familiar with American Girl knows the price points are out of this world, but it is pretty cool and authentic, for what it is.
  3. About the 12 minute mark of the Goose video you can see the keys player rhythmically pumping his right leg like he's got a wah underneath it.
  4. That's smart to look have expanded your search beyond KB cases to mixer cases.
  5. Go easy on yourself. Big task to get two hands to sound like four very busy, syncopated hands.
  6. I am not personally familiar with how these Nord monitor speakers are connected to the stand but maybe this is a solution for you to investigate:
  7. I often explain to my non-musician friends that being in just ONE band has the potential for drama equivalent to dating everyone in the band simultaneously. Multiply that by a couple bands... well, gotta make sure you've got a lot of low maintenance "dates" This resonates with me so much.
  8. For comparison, the Motion Sound Pro 145 is a similar product and weighs 65 pounds
  9. I have no idea what the explanation is but some things seem to be inaccessible. E.g., when I look at the archive of my own posts, the very first posts I made, about 2008, are not listed among them. Again, the new platform is a net positive for me, so I'm not complaining.
  10. This is a good video but I did laugh after his demonstration of how to apply scale, when he says "I was literally only taking notes from Chuck's blues scale".... the scale contains ten of the twelve notes!
  11. Yes, insofar as "smooth jazz" is a maligned term, I will fight to the death to defend that these two classics are not smooth jazz. We had a great forum poll ~5 years ago debating which of these two is our favorite. Can't seem to find that thread on our new platform, but I remember we had much love for these two songs.
  12. Just another data point to confirm this phenomenon. I was searching for this old thread (4 or 5 years old?), to cross-reference in a new, active thread: https://forums.musicplayer.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/2856131/Poll_Soulful_Strut_vs_Grazing_ I found the thread via a Google search but I cannot find it on the new platform. As others have observed, the move to the platform is a wonderful advancement but it does seem we are losing some archival content.
  13. Oh man... immediate lust for this. Looks like a great balance of portability, features, and power.
  14. When I read @16251's OP, my mind went to a third option... those rare small venue gigs by artists that still draw big. E.g., sometimes big acts will kick off tours with a teaser club date (e.g., Guns n Roses played the Troubadour in L.A. in 2016 to warm up for their reunion tour). And I recall Bob Dylan purposefully played a series of shows in unusually small theaters for him, maybe 10 years ago. And wasn't Prince known to do a "pop up" show every now and again? Sometimes giant bands played club dates under a phony name, etc. I don't have any stories about seeing gigs like these, and would be interested if others do.
  15. I think I'm in same boat. I like that they figured out how to do this but I'm not immediately lusting after it.
  16. This variable pickup slider is pretty darn cool!
  17. I don't have feelings strong as this but I remind myself with some frequency that much early jazz was dance music. The genre loses appeal for me proportionally to how far it strays from those roots.
  18. I also recall they teased a Leslie clone. Maybe a FB post with an image of a rotating horn?
