  1. It would be helpful to clarify/update the forum policy on discussing retail sales. I occasionally notice a good deal I think forumites will appreciate, but I post about it in awkward or vague terms to prevent violating what I had understood to be the forum policy. But a thread like this suggests we are more permissive than I thought (or than we were). IIRC, the concern is we don't want to litter the forum with sales pitches and the like, especially by those who may have conflicts of interest. I vote we set up a single "Hot Deals" thread, allow the wild west in there, and otherwise keep the forum strict and clean. We kind of already do this with annual Black Friday threads.
  2. I have a Dexibell S3 and am pleased with the updated sounds.
  3. Glad you liked it. I'm still happily gigging an SK2. The SKX is great!
  4. PSA: The grandmother is on sale for under $1000 USD on a couple reputable music sites including a one day "stupid" deal of $849 today
  5. How difficult is it now to get a Tornado to the U.S.? I recall last time the forum discussed it was still quite a challenge.
  6. In this vein, the recording marvel for me remains Scary Pockets recording on the street corner!
  7. Thanks for the report. I have its predecessor, TS308, and have been pleased with its "bang-for-the-buck" in similar use applications.
  8. Anyone else wondering about data source feeding the chart? What Bee Gees material made them #4 best seller in 1969?!
  9. Awesome set up! Now you know you're basically begging me to ask about the significance of the Zelda game.
  10. I often toy with buying a piano shell, like @EscapeRocks, to house a digital piano... y'know, to up my stage presence. Maybe I've been thinking about this wrong. This Roland approaches a sweet spot of visually flashy yet portable... well, about as portable as lugging a piano slab and a shell. These things probably aren't road worthy, though.
  11. This exchange epitomizes the virtues of this forum. @musicbysterling asks a clear, specific, non-googleable question and provides the necessary info (i.e., sound clip) for other forum-ites to dig in. @stoken6uploads a chart to answer the question... a mere 22 minutes after the question is asked. We are spoiled by this type of excellence. It ain't always this way on the interwebs. Kudos all around.
  12. A keyboard innovator in this space is our own @eric and his pivot keyboard stand, allowing him to dramatically raise one side of the board to add emotion.
  13. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Dead but this is an instance where it is hard to enjoy their cover version when one has the knowledge of how funky the Meters do it
  14. Not exactly the same, but reminds me of Phish's longtime stage setup with keys and drums on the ends, angled inwards. During non-vocal jams, guitar and bass could step back, forming a quasi-semicircle.
  15. Similar --- I bring a Roland VR-09 as my backup.
  16. Knowing full well the strong opinions some of us have on the low-price, foldable boards, I nevertheless provide this heads up that the large music site that is our "Friend," is running a one-day sale today on the Carry On 88 Key folding piano. 50% off... $49.
  17. Hadn't appreciated this significant downgrade from P125 to P125a. Loss of USB audio, etc.
  18. Ooooh... elaborate please. I'm a big jam band fan but someone like Trey didn't occur to me in this context. Maybe the parameters of this thread aren't super well-defined but insofar as the topic is, while sitting in the keyboard seat, which guitar player do you want on stage with you, I'm not sure any of the jamband heavyweights -- Trey, Jerry Garcia, etc., would be my first choice. As an audience member, I definitely love these guys but -- controversial take(?) -- as a keyboard player I'm not so sure they are at the top of my list compared to other guitarists named in this thread. It may be that guitar styles in other genres appeal to me as more complementary to the keys.
  19. That's quite a contraption she's mounted to the guitar to film her picking hand.
  20. Here is a "Rhodes Community Questionnaire" posted by the company: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSerD--xug7WhOXNaEas0_0wJ4VBFvfgGohAOLewOheFGWzTZg/viewform The questions are intriguing -- signaling things like: whom they consider competitors, ideas for product expansion, and... not sure what to make of this... taking community temperature on investing in the company ("Would you be interested in being a part owner of Rhodes?")
  21. Looks like they've streamlined their offerings. Just two subscription options; not seeing ability to purchase individual courses anymore.
  22. Amazing! An idea for the future: some shells have an installed mic boom thread, to further clean up the stage aesthetics.
