  1. Wynton Kelly lick fingering ideas Hee hee: read this as finger licking ideas so had to see if this was a collaberation with the Colonel
  2. Thanks Theo Verelst and pjd thats even more interesting especially as pjd mentions yaw and roll. Im assuming that means a method of responding to sideways movement which to me is even more interesting as invariably when playing a stage piano I instantly try to move my finger sideways to bend a note or introduce modulation. I never try to press down to activate aftertouch...never. Mind you playing acoustic piano i never feel the need to induce any modulation. But a stage piano which invariably has strings etc in background feels natural to move my fingers side to side after the strike. Theres only one keyboard i know that does that and I was patiently waiting to see if a stage piano would be developed using that technology
  3. Hee hee. Man I'd love to hear those screams as i feel yamaha is saying "let them eat cake" (or brioche)...sort of showing their indifference to the what the peasants really want. Me personally the thing that is interesting on this slab is the optical sensing. For me a simple stage piano with optical sensing would be enough without all the bells and whistles. But i do enjoy the back and forthing with perhaps a few screams thrown in for good measure that newly introduced keyboards create. Hee hee
  4. From marketing perspective If no poly across the 3 boards then i think i would have introduced only the upgraded 8 (poly version) and not introduced new 6 or 7 versions until if and when poly could be fitted. Ie let the then current modes run. This would create a very special 88 that may sell more due to the fact there wasnt a poly update to the 6 and 7. Then when the means (if possible with yamahas keybed width limitations) to fit poly to the smaller siblings was possible then hit the market with the updated 6 and 7. The biggest advantage I see to this keybed is the sensors (optical i believe?). I have longed for a keyboard that doesnt stuff up due to dust in the workings or stupid rubber bubbles not seating properly or decaying due to age. I believe the Vax77 had such sensors but was a mythical beast here downunder. So little chance of finding one to try.
  5. These are the sort of repairs that are very interesting. This is restoring. Keeping the item original. Especially interesting when parts for older keyboards become long obselete. Many of these type of repairs i have done when i was restoring electronics on vintage radio control cars. Parts for electronics are long not available. Fortunately i kept a lot of broken used transmitters and receivers. But eventually those often have the same broken parts leading you to do very similar repairs. I repaired many vintage rc cars. Modern Rc didnt interest me. Besides i used to race in the vintage rc days so its nostalgia like restoring vintage keybords. I find any of my keyboards ive repaired ive tried to keep them with original parts if possible just for its history. Keep em coming
  6. hah...Id like it to be harder and use all reverse key colours. So all white keys are black. just like on the rare Poly 800 reverse colour key I remember that coming out and being shocked at modern people using it onstage as i previously did with my Vox Jaguar. At least both had white flats/sharps as reference points
  7. What is the next ‘big thing’ in keyboards? Im just awaiting the keyboard that can factor World Peace. The Peacephoniam
  8. Simply put his shoes on his mic stand. The audience will think he is looking at them ...problem solved. I believe there is a mic stand adapter by most of the stand manufacturers available for shoe hanging. They seem to have adaptors for everything else
  9. How would you name this chord? I will name this chord "Bob"
  10. On my Kawai 9500 I thought they were meant to stay on but one always comes off. Its annoying Its in storage now till we move so i cant investigate if they look temporary. Perhaps ill be happy to leave them off now knowing they may only be for shipping protection. I never considered that as a possibilty. They look too well manufactured to be temporary though?
  11. Bugger i was gonna' say grab it after reading the your first post but sadly its gone
  12. Oh bugger. Thats as much as you could have done. How long has it been? Is there any chance it may show up. Or is it far beyond a simple delay?
  13. And this man is a very honourable seller so those scammers can "get stuffed" I bought a keyboard off Delta after he contacted me thru this forum after i said a few times i was thinking of getting a certain keyboard second hand. Id seen some of his postings before hand and i think thats the beauty of this forum that i felt comfortable to explore the possibity. I opted to talk on phone with him (as is my way with any long distance purchase) before driving 6 hours to purchase mainly because i hate typing copious questions. I knew straight away from talking with him that this was a beaut condition keyboard. Coincidentally I was going near his town for holidays in a few months and he held it for me thus making pick-up a secondary consideration to the holiday. After talking to him on phone i wouldnt have hesitated to buy via shipping off him. So Jose my keyboard wasnt a lot either but if you can try to talk on phone to seller if possible you can certainly reduce the chance of a scam by hearing their voice. DeltaJockey and I remain friends to this day. I hope one day to visit the holiday area again to catch up with him in person once my house move is over. Basically i try not to buy anything i cant pickup or cant get to know the seller as in a forum or phone call. ps: i have added this to the above. Also like you Jose I am not in US so not much comes up on here for me to buy. Shame for us eh? But i use the above approach with buying on online platforms like gumtree and fbook if i can. Ive stopped buying on ebay only because i left it as a seller when they changed to managed payments. So they lost me as a buyer too by changing. (They lost a lot of buyers that way). Ebay is too difficult to ask for a number so i approached it by checking Seller very carefully before purchase if something seems not right. Going back to a saying in my days as a Graphic designer/artist "When in doubt leave it out." In our context. When in doubt dont buy.
  14. Correct me if Im wrong but I think i saw you busking on this state of the art Yamaha synbike contraption along Grand Pacific Drive in the Gong. Your hair was shorter then.
  15. Thanks RDM a great shootout. I found the Numa's piano sound to my liking. To me it seemed more alive. Having said that all sound great in his hands. And Id certainly not throw any of those 4 patches out of my (key)bed
  16. FOSTERS....The only Fosters that was any good was Foster's beaches on the way up the north coast near Pt Macquarie. Used to drive my little Morris Minor up north every year religiously stopping in there. In later years it was in my Ford Falcon Panno while doing windsurfing safari's up north. God I miss the north coast now i live down south. Oh oh you mean some alcohol called Fosters im guessing? Addressing a previous post I must be the only Aussie who doesnt drink alcohol? It amuses me how Aussies are all stereotyped. Doesnt bother me just amuses. Although being a non drinker in the old days was a "cross to bare" socially. Gotta say though it did affect me once in a band situation where the lead singer i was supposed to replace decided to not become a pilot and stay in band after i joined and had started gigging with them. He then announces to the band he doesnt trust anyone who doesnt drink. Needless to say he was back and i was eventually gone and so was my keys (he didnt play an instrument). As they were originally a midifile band with just a guitar they could cope without keyboards. The other singer stood by me and did a gig i had got for the whole band in Parramatta mall (For the Aussies). The band dumped me before this gig which would have left egg on my face with the mall even after just doing a new years eve gig i got that paid 4 times our normal gig. Ironically in an earlier youthful band where i shared lead singing getting out from behind my keys I was called the wild man who'd look crazy and out if it. We played some biker pubs up the Blue mountains and Id often get a biker coming up and saying man thats great can I buy you a beer. Id say could i have a lemonade. They'd go yea no worries. They never worried whether I drank or not they just appreciated the attitude. Hee hee
  17. Korg says "Qu'ils mangent de la brioche", Or in Aussie "let them eat cake"
  18. Yeah i believe you plus i cant bet you as Im one of the few Aussies who dont drink alcohol. Hee hee i just read another forum where they said it has membrane switches like every thing else. I was hoping for some radical sensors using magnets. Thought it at least it'd have secret agent Alien technology captured by the govnment in the 50s. At least
  19. Agree but an 88 will probably work out around 6 grand in Aussie greenbacks (exchange rate works out at 5 grand but we know Aussie importers like to gouge us especially this being a niche keyboard). I sold off my real baby grand for our house move replacing it with a Kawai mp9500 due to portability of the house move and a bit to live off. I like the Kawai a lot. It is lighter than my grand it replaced but i soon embraced that. I have a hankering for an 88 board without the usual sensors that can be affected by dust. The Vax always was an interesting beast because of its sensing but an elusive beast in Australia Its not exactly clear on a quick look if the magnets are to do with the weighting of the keys or if they are for sensors. Or both. I can see them being either. If this was revolutionary then 5 or 6 grand could replace someones used baby grand. And it may be appropriate but it would need to be fool proof at the Aussie price We will be finally moving to our new home in 3 months to renovate it but will possibly be many more months to actually live in it. Is a revolutionary 88note controller possibly of interest down the track or do i keep on loving my Kawai MP 9500. If it was US price here its a very good price but at our exchange rate its would have to be ground breaking and the last 88 weighted one could lust for. As ive let go some of my vintage gear for the move My wifes been pushing me to get something like the Akai MPC key61 to record with and eliminate all my vintage junk and actually get focussed. What about this 88 instead or with the Akai on top. Will it be revolutionary to make its price palatable? Edit: i just read another forum where they said it has membrane switches like every thing else. I was hoping for some radical sensors using magnets.
  20. Yep bloody oath. Im down to 30% lungs thanks in a huge way to those smoke filled venues. Used to cough up green shit every day until lunchtime. If only the clubs and pubs had put their aircon on to fresh air intake from outside instead of recycling the heated or cold air from within the premises to cut down on electricity i think things may have been better.
