  1. Wow - horses for courses - I couldn't disagree more with this if I wanted to. I haven't used a "keyboard amp" live since 1993, instead opting for various small, stereo, passive and active PA systems and IEMs, and I've never looked back. The sound reproduction and depth that I got from a keyboard amp were horrible compared to these other rigs; however, as always, YMMV.
  2. Yet another house band gig with the all-software rig.
  3. Ivory 2 was a finished product, but Sythogy still gave us Ivory 3. There are tons of examples just like this one in VI world. Hopefully, we will get B-3X v2.0 someday.
  4. That is very true (and a pretty big shortcoming). Luckily, most of the basic parameters (drawbars, expression pedal, Leslie speed, etc.) follow customary MIDI CCs. I can control those items just fine from my Numa Organ 2 (which also has fixed MIDI CC transmit values). One place that Waterfall has it all over B-3X is having a centered modwheel engage the Leslie brake. I've asked IK Multimedia for this in B-3X on a number of occasions in several different forums, but they have yet to implement it (or update B-3X to v2.0, for that matter). I have the Leakage knob on my Numa Organ 2 mapped to engaging the Leslie brake (since Leakage isn't a mappable parameter in B-3X anyway).
  5. I'm definitely aware of that. I usually instantiate both Waterfall and B-3X in my remote tracking projects and play the song using both. Almost always, after a few runs on each, a clear winner is revealed, even before messing with those post-effects in B-3X. I like to deliver very raw tracks that give my clients the most flexibility at mix time.
  6. I agree re: the former, but not the latter. VB3-II sounded pretty fake & chirpy to me. Did Guido ever bring back the v1.4 Leslie in VB3-II?
  7. Have you messed around with the micing options? Before I took the time to do that, it did sound pretty cheesy in the factory presets, but the same can be said about B-3X. But after, the Leslie is very good, but still not quite to the level of B-3X's Leslie. Nonetheless, there are times that Waterfall drops into a track like buttah and is very convincing compared to B-3X.
  8. Waterfall is a sleeper hit. Sometimes, it sits in a given mix better than B-3X from the start with zero work.
  9. My shortlist would be B-3X and Waterfall. I own and use both, depending upon the track/project.
  10. Yeah, I saw all of that, too. It is giving me pause to even demo it.
  11. I'd love to hear how these are. My IK Multimedia iLoud Micros are getting scared.
  12. I would think that the V8 Pro is superior in both of those areas.
  13. The Pre-Attack Control definitely makes the EP-88S sound more realistic, but also can make it less playable.
  14. Have you adjusted the Pre-Attack Control in the lower right corner of the UI's main page? It's value changes depending upon what preset you load.
  15. Thanks for correcting me. It's been a long time since I demoed the V8 Pro.
