  1. Yep Niacin hits it on the head. Now you are no longer a "noobie" and you're actually not afraid to be heard the guitarist is as jealous as hell that he may loose the "strut around the bar with a phallic guitar" vibe.. Keep on being heard If he persists in his passive aggressive questions hit him with this... "MR guitar guy, now I can be heard and will be heard, our band sound is now full so I think its reasonable to conclude that you may play only one string as you definately dont need six strings now that I fill out the sound. Remove 5 and I'll leave it up to you which string to use as you are the guitarist." I once pissed off the singer / guitarist / trio owner by using a keyboard amp behind me instead of in the side mounted "wall of sound" they thought was needed. I dont think i did it on purpose it just happened that gig i set up behind perhaps it was to try a new thing for them a placement experiment. He turned to me with such venom with daggers in his eyes during the gig to get me to turn down that i retorted with "you're a friggin prima donna" which is very unlike me but having been a sound man for many years i knew i wasnt loud at all but that he just is not used to an amp behind him when all the bass, guitar and midi files came from a sidewall. Can you believe that he never had amps behind him. He was a great singer and guitarist so who was I to disagree To be honest id never seen a "wall of sound" placed against a side wall shooting sideways between audience and band it was very strange although both audienve and band would get the same sound. It did sort of work where we played. What what a prima donna. I soon was out of that trio.
  2. It should still be with us today but Im glad it never became a watered down passed around company that is often the fate with great companies from the past
  3. Thanks chris thats an amazing thing. A bit like our Roo balls stuffed into a poached emu egg then stuffed into a fried Wombat. Thats finger licken good. I believe a bushy from somewhere near Wolf Creek chucked this together.
  4. Install a Rheem install a Rheem Its the hottest hot water you've ever seen
  5. Very nice. Always wanted a Fusion. I remember seeing a used one i thought about buying but it was interstate 12 hours away so let it go as i knew about their foibles and would liked to have seen it in person. Ironicaly not long after i moved to the same city it was available in. DoHH In Australia theres not a lot of opportunities to chase specific old keyboards. It's sorta buy if one comes up at the time may be ages between seeing another. We dont have numerous of any used keyboards to choose from like in US
  6. Hey ive actually got a WSA-1 in my barb wire collection. Interesting piece.
  7. Big fan of Alesis stuff and will be pulling out all my Alesis stuff soon as our house move and renovation will be finished Xmas eve (i hope) meaning ill be able to setup a bigger studio separating all my synth restoration stuff from playing stuff. Maybe time to let finish off my vintage synth repairs and let my collections go I will finally have access to my Quadrasynth plus, 2 x S4 modules, Nano Synth and a QS6.1 etc. Gigged with the original Quadrasynth then migrated to the Quadrasynth Plus. Cant wait to compare the Plus more closely to my QS6.1 which i picked up years later after the Qudarasynth was mothballed. I always loved the Quadrasynth zoning. I always thought it was ahead of everyone elses zoning capabilities. Simple quick and enough capabilities. I also liked its sounds a lot. So much so later I would use the Nano Synth as a very portable but non zoning module above my PX330. Later adding the QS6.1 as a zoning master above the PX330. I recently got a Numa Cocal 2x for lightweight gigging and i think i may add the minuscule Nano Synth to it as the Numa Compact has 2 external zones although i think they only do a 2 way split hardly what i call zoning. Nevertheless it may be enough. I still think the Alesis sounds hold up well for gigging. I wish they continued making synths with their fantastic zoning capabilities of the original Quadrasynth. The Qs6.1 zoning was good but i think the Quadrasynth was quicker to dial up although i could be wrong hence my anticipation of putting them side by side. The S4 modules are great but have limitation of no 10 pad buttons for typing the program in and have a proprietary power pac that is bulkyish and not easily replaceable. Basically the Quadrasynth replaced my Kurzweil K1000 a nice synth but way to heavy and its zoning was only linear ( a 3 way split). With the Quadrasynth I had finally found the ultimate synth at the time. Lighter and a zoning dream. Id still be using it today except my health deteriated and the quadrasynth was too heavy and bulky. I looked at the QS7 as it was sleek but still too heavy for me. Im stuck with getting lighter and lighter keyboards negating a lot of choices But basically i think the Quadrasynth was the turning point in finding a keyboard i had been hoping for since i started gigging in the late 70s. I still consider it my bench mark gigging synth.
  8. Totally agree. Im predominantly a piano player but id like my synth or my semi weighted boards to be waterfall even though id be playing piano on the semi weighted id also be playing organ on it. And what is it with open keys where its like an abyss under the key i really hate those. Feels like the end of the key could just break off, looks flimsy like a toy.
  9. Hee hee never thought of them. I instantly thought of Japanese Chipmonks. maybe Im an older Chipmunk generation as I dont think ive heard Minions only seen their images. hee hee. Maybe suit chipmunk Anime
  10. Looks like a Korg Trident. I had one back in the day.
  11. We are the nice guys of the forum world. We defend the weak and nuture keyboard love. We are 10 little dainty fingers of keyboard joy in a world of fingerless thumping for power chords. Yep thats what we are.
  12. Do these keyboards actually have a measurable differences or is it all marketing? Yes measurable difference like night and day. Hammer action generally approximating an acoustic piano some closer to grands others like uprights. Fortunately can be as light as 11kg for 88notes. Synth action lightest generally often feel you are bottoming out if you are a piano player Semi weighted a compomise suited to gigging muso who wants lighter physical weight to schlep. Piano sounds are much more playable than on a synth action but can still have that bottoming out feeling. If so, why did you make your choices. Home use im a hammer action man Gigging im a casio privia hammer action guy. (11.5kg) Ive just got hold of a (7kg) semi weighted Numa Cocal 2x when i need super lightweight for schlepping to a gig. My choice would always be towards a hammer or heavy weighted action especialy for solo piano singing gigs but in a band situation thatsnot featuring the piano man as the lead singer / player id be using semi weighted.
  13. Yes agree the first is a good interpretation. I liked it. The second didnt gel at first but if i looked at it as a live version in 1964 emulating them on stage and thrashing thru songs to a wildly bopping audience who couldnt hear them anyway i could get it. I think what the second one lacked to portray this properly was a Lennonish voice. His voice was his voice and normally i applaud that but in this case he was doing a "look a like" thing so his voice should "sound a like" to impart the tribute band thing he was giving us. Here i think the "Beatleish" video made us realise the voice should have been a John "sound a like". It wasnt till half way thru I enjoyed watching what might come next in one of the first cover song videos. I was ready to give up when it started but by the end i got what he was trying to do with an uptempo version. The video was corny in a cute way. Video sort of reminded me of Pauls solo song "coming up" which i really loved in the day.
  14. I loved my Arp 4 voice and although large it was so much lighter than my Yammy CP30 it replaced and sounded much better. It could sit my vox jaguar on top as well with a rear gantry so it had great real estate on top. I too have a casio the PX330 and happy with feel for gigging
  15. I liked it a lot. A LOT. Infact will become a favourite as over the years when radio existed as a medium i got so sick of hearing their back catalogue songs. But not just theirs other greats such as Elvis etc. Didnt mean i started to dislike their songs but it certainly creates a "not again" please play something new. And finally they did and i love it but I'm biased to this style of song as i could add this to my solo repertoire. Im not as interested in their other 2 songs as their is too much going on. Perhaps though this song does create a very Beatles sound in my mind i really think of it as a Lennon solo song. But it'd probably stay lost if not for this Beatles collab. I give it a BIG thumbs up Thanks to Beato for giving us what i expect from him are the correct chords. Although it sounds a simple arrangement I dont have a keyboard setup to nut it out so I did a quick search of chords before seeing his video and found typical guitarist take on the chords which are often wrong interpretations but i expect his to be spot on as usual. Infact the song inspired me to try to set up my keyboard in my storage shed today to try it out. Weve been moving house for 6 months and i reckon i havent played a piano for that long. Thanks John L for getting me off my but with your great song.
  16. I agree due to their low weight. What I'd do with that 25mm sheet is cut out the shape of any protuberances the bottom keyboard has such as toggle switches and sliders etc so they are not having pressure on them. The pressure is on flat areas and the 25mm sheet will then sit flat on keyboard if the keys are level. If keys lower add an extra piece to fit on keys It's simple to do if someone reading this isnt good eyeing it. Simply put a clear plastic sheet over it and draw around protuberances then invert it on the foam sheet and cut out But I'd keep this to lightweight keyboards. Ones that youd happily put a padded gig bagged one upon another padded gig bagged one. Note padded. If carrying in a car you may have them sitting side by side instead of downward pressure so 2 in a bag would be even less of a worry So its knowing your own padding that will make the difference.
  17. Yep the Colonel is big Down under... urrr....i mean KFC
  18. This is on the lowdown. Wink wink But i heard there is a Ren & Stimpy editon being touted by one of their compeitors. Let the cartoon piano wars begin.
