  1. That did the trick! Thank you very much. 👏🏻👏🏻
  2. I could use some advice if someone has a solution. While my Nord Stage 3 Compact is out for repair I have trio gigs where I need to be able to have 1 keyboard that I can pan a Bass sound to Right output and then piano, organs to Left. My CK 88 is wonderful in many respects but it doesn’t allow for panning of sounds. I had an idea of using a live set with bass split on the CK 88 to trigger my wife’s iPad with iFretless bass. Then out of the headphone jack into its own separate channel in my mixer. The pianos and organs would come from the CK output into its own separate channel in same mixer. The problem arises when I use the USB cable and connect to the iPad it recognizes that and switches the audio to the built in interface, combining the bass with the piano organs into one. I’ve tried Master mode and nothing works yet. Is there a way to turn off the internal audio interface?
  3. I’ve owned a Roland RD 88 and I now play a Yamaha CK 88. For me, just sitting at the piano and playing through the keyboards speakers, the CK 88 is the much better experience. I believe the CK 88 speakers deliver more volume and more importantly it seems to deliver more of a stereo image for the player, which is very pleasing.
  4. I purchased the Kawai SK-EX yesterday. I’ve been using PianoTeq 8 (Stage) for almost a year with the Ant.Petrov being my go-to. Last night I played a 3 hour restaurant gig with the Kawai SK-EX Warm & Prelude trigged by a Yamaha CK88. It was very expressive and fun to play.
  5. When I play PianoTeq on the CK 88 I did set it up to be in Master mode and play on a separate midi channel but I also discovered that the mod wheel was controlling the volume of Part A (PianoTeq) and I don’t know how I did it, but it’s definitely doable.
  6. I forgot to mention that the inability to pan sounds to different outputs (L/R) keeps me from using the CK 88 as a 1 keyboard option when playing Left hand bass in my trio. It wasn’t a deal- breaker but it is #1 in the Cons column of my Pros vs. Cons list. Trying to keep hope alive for an update….
  7. I started with the CK 61 in April 2023. Bought it for a top board for Organ half the time and Strings / Synth the rest. Plus it’s nice to take to jams, small rehearsals, vacation. I have a pretty decent organ sound dialed in by using the insert rotary effect as well as Rotary B. It also pairs well with Hammond XB-3 when I want a primo organ. I decided to pick up the CK 88 in October of 2023 for $1299 when there was a sale. After tweaking the velocity settings on the pianos and ep’s I’m happy with it and often use both boards for band gigs. I also started using Piano Teq8 with the CK 88 for solo piano jobs and I really like the results. I should add that I’m 74 and really trying to keep the weight down without compromising too much on sound and feel.
  8. Unless there’s an update I’ve missed, on the CK Yamaha’s there is no way to route/ pan to separate outputs. I’d love it to be so, for the exact reason mentioned here.
  9. The drummer is Pedro Segundo. I’ve seen him on percussion with Jon Cleary & The Absolute Monster Gentleman.
  10. This Atlantic City scenario happened to me about 16 years ago. After having our 8 piece band jockeying for 2 baggage carts to transport gear an ungodly distance to the event room, I spent the next day and most of my pay purchasing my first Rock N Roller cart. Since then it’s been a back and time saver on so many occasions.
  11. I run it from my iPad but I also have it on my iPhone too.
  12. I’m a very satisfied owner of a CK-61 & CK-88. I just turned 74 and I’m still going strong but with the emphasis on light, easy to transport gear that still sounds gig worthy. I sold a 13 year old Nord Stage 2 76 because of the weight of the board and the anvil case needed to move it properly. In April of 2023 I picked up the CK-61 to be a top board option or grab & go board for jams, parties, vacation etc. I love the interface design of the CK’s as they remind me a bit of the Nord design with plenty of knobs and sliders. I’ve adjusted to the action pretty well and the sounds are fine when I’m using it in a blues, soul band. I have also managed to get a much improved organ sound by using the insert Rotary effect along with the dedicated Rotary B. Also rolling off the high end and beefing up the lower EQ tames some of the shrillness of 88888888 drawbar settings. And I can save those Roraty, EQ settings to individual organ live sets. I should add that on rare occasions that the organ is featured more, the CK pairs well with Hammond B-3X app on my iPad. My positive experience with the CK-61 led me to get a CK-88 in September of 2023, on sale for $1299. After spending a good deal of time adjusting the sensitivity and offset parameters of the keyboard action I’m pretty pleased with the feel. It’s surely not a dream to play but it’s good for my taste. In addition, I’m monitoring both in Stereo with IEM’s and loving that too. Lastly about 70% of my gigs are solo/duo with piano featured almost exclusively. CK-88 + Piano Teq 8 = ❤️. I realize the CK sounds are a bit of a step down from the Yamaha CP & YC but for my uses, light weight and bang for the buck, I’m very happy with both.
  13. Another vote for K&M stands. I use their table stand, 18950 with the 18952 stacker. I mostly play solo and the table stand is sturdy and folds down in seconds. When I use a 2nd keyboard the stackers take a minute to attach and you can adjust the angle, height and position over your bottom board. It’s expensive but solid and easy to use.
  14. This Soundcraft mixer has been my go-to for years. It worked well when I was only running 2 keyboards mono to FOH & wedge monitor and it still works great now when I can run all Stereo to IEM’s. The key for me was the monitor send is pre- fader which gives me what you want, the ability to adjust monitor volume for both keyboards without affecting the FOH signal. This also allows me to take the XLR band monitor feed from FOH and put it in Channel 4 as long as I have the volume knob for that channel down I can adjust that band monitor mix into my IEM’s.
  15. That’s it! I recognized the sound immediately because a few years ago I spent considerable time getting this ii V change under my fingers in all keys. I’m not anything close to a jazz pianist but this comes in handy occasionally. The great news is I’ve been singing this song since the pandemic and never thought to put that in…. Thanks Larry G!
