  1. I’m doing this! Yamaha CK88 triggering PianoTeq 8. IPad sound plays through the CK speakers and one 1/4 cable to Bose Pro 8. I did tweak the velocity settings on the CK some but it feels good and sounds good too!
  2. The CK 61 speakers will keep up with 1 or even 2 acoustic guitars. But at your rehearsals what is your drummer doing? If he’s tapping on a Cajon or on practice pads fine but if he’s on a small kit unless he’s using brushes you’ll need your B205D.
  3. Henry Butler definitely came to mind while listening to that Grusin video. Josh, who do you think might have been influenced by the other?
  4. Another vote for the Kawai ES-520. The default setting feels not heavy and is nice to play. If you go to Light 1 you definitely feel the difference and it might be perfect for you.
  5. Nord Stage 3 Compact over the Casio PX S-7000
  6. Everyone with the red keyboard says “Yes”. 😎
  7. My 39 year old son introduced me to Knower. I was impressed with them. While watching I recognized Rai from some solo YouTube videos I had watched 6 years earlier. My son was impressed that I was familiar with Rai. 😎
  8. Pricey but sturdy. Super quick set-up and tear down. Fairly easy to adjust heights for table and upper tier.
  9. That Timber Ridge looks interesting but how much does it collapse down for transport? With the Rock & Roller that I use, the length can be extended or closed plus if I flip it over when transporting it doesn’t move about and there’s space between the wheels that you can place wire bags, small mixer and bag with a small “snake”. It certainly takes a bit of time to extend the cart, load it properly and then a couple of bungee cords in the right places but on certain load ins where the distance to the stage is far it is essential. I went years simply carrying everything or making multiple trips using a regular hand truck but the gig that changed it for me was the Atlantic City private event at a Casino where the Union help and carts to move us in never showed up and the band was reduced to scrounging up a baggage cart and sharing it. Did I mention the path to the event room was nearly a 5 minute walk through corridors involving elevator to another level. The very next day I went on Amazon and ordered this Rock & Roller cart and while I only need to use it a handful of times a year it’s always there when needed and a huge time saver not to mention easier on this old body.
  10. Not one item over 36 lbs. What you can’t see we’ll is the Bose Pro 8 sub on the left side of the cart. It takes a few minutes to stack the cart and bungee but it’s worth it for those gigs where I need it all. Quite often I can pair it down to carrying what I need in 2 trips. It helps that most of my gigs are either restaurants with ramps to comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act or music venues that have House PA’s and well thought out load in/out design. I’m 73, slight build and reasonably good health but with some arthritis in my hands and some back issues in the past I’ve been devoted to lighter gear for the last 20 years and feel better for it.
  11. I don’t have a PC 4 but I’ve had good luck in the past keeping a Casio PX S-3000 from sliding/moving with small female Velcro strips attached to the stand.
  12. I don’t see the 8.2 update on iOS App Store. Is it only the desktop version out so far?
  13. Lowest price I have seen yet. 2 years ago this keyboard sold for $1299. If you want one now is THE time.
  14. Years ago I discovered Yellowjackets when they were on the GRP label. “Smooth Jazz” also introduced me to Joe Sample, Fourplay, Jeff Lorber, etc. It was part of my journey to more traditional jazz.
  15. It may be a false hope but I’d love the ability to output separately L/R.
  16. I bought the CK 61 in April as a light and relatively inexpensive board to take to jams, backyard parties and as a lightweight top keyboard option. (backup for a Nord Stage 3 Compact). It’s been perfect for that. I loved it so much that I picked up a CK 88 in August when they had a $300 off sale. At this stage of my life 70% of my gigs are solo or duo (percussionist) on a Casio PX S-7000 so only around 2 or 3 band shows a month where I need a weighted keyboard that does organs better than the Casio. I really tired of carrying a 12 year old Nord Stage 2 plus Vent in an anvil case and the CK 88 allowed me to finally sell it and go lighter. I realized I sacrificed quality of sounds some but honestly the difference when I listen to recordings of performances is minimal out front and live in my mono IEM’s. Should I get a high profile show, the Nord Stage 3 Compact in dual keyboard mode over the CK 88 (triggering the Nord Piano’s, Ep’s) works well.
  17. No NYE gig this year and I’m fine with that. In the last 5 NYE. I’ve played 2 and both were close to home, solo piano, great money and something like 6-9pm with plenty of time to get home or get to a neighbors party. I’m fortunate to be picky about it and not have to chase the $$$.
  18. For solo piano I use either the Bechstein or NY Steinway on a Casio PX S-7000. Played through a Bose Pro 8 For band gigs it’s the CFX mono or U1 on a CK 88. If I’m using the Stage 3 Compact alone it’s the Studio Grand or Black Upright. Played through IEM’s or a Bose S-1 (I’m really enjoying playing PianoTech 8 at home triggered by a Kawai ES 520 and may try that live at some point)
  19. I’m using the Kaces brand from Kraft. 68.99 I haven’t weighed it. It feels lighter than 8lbs SKU: KRA-GBKEY88SLIM
  20. PianoTeq 8 for iOS. Stage Pack. With NY & Hamburg Steinway & Upright.
  21. The Eagles stay undefeated after Hurts has a performance that looks more like the 2022 Hurts and the defense plays the way it was expected they would. Admittedly, I was nervous about this game. It was their first game against an established quality QB and Stafford was getting Cupp back. The Birds secondary is patched together because of injuries but after getting shredded in the 1st half they hung in long enough to unleash rookie Jalen Carter (2 sacks) and finally Hassan Reddick (2sacks) got it going. The Eagles can beat you in so many different ways but they have yet to play a complete game in all phases. They were not good in the Red Zone on Sunday. In 2 weeks they have a tough stretch of Dolphins, Cowboys, Chiefs, Bills & 49’ers lined up and if they can come out of that 3-2 I’d be happy. ps. It looks as if the 49ers are on a mission and I know they have the date Dec 3 at Philly circled.
