Why don't you just put some MP3's on artistlaunch, broadjam, javamusic, or one of the other free sites? My email is limited to file sizes of a meg or smaller. A typical MP3 song is three to five megs.

If you are on Mac, & have OS 9, you can 20 megs of free internet space. If you want more you can just re-register & link the 2 sites, like this

Dan, this one is extremely cool little piece of music! :thu:

You composed it all by yourself? I mean, no one has helped you?? ;)

Sounds superb.

Dan South -- Fugue, I Love it!! Wow! Some serious sequencing going on there buddy! I like your music anyways. ;) "Rain Dance" has Triton written all over it (am I right?). Korg need to hire you to make demos for them for any upcoming products. Smokin'... :thu:

I wasn't going to upload this to the internet because it's not really sane but something kept telling me there's people out there who will appreciate it...

It's a 23 minute experimental jam...not for musical snobs...lots of surprises.

If you're up for a little change of pace, head over HERE and check out "Burroughs Sings Charles in Charge," a throwaway little music-like parody by the audio theater group I'm affiliated with. If the title isn't explicit enough, it's William S. Burroughs singing the theme song to Charles in Charge.

The, um, "music," was done on the infamous 3ms Triwave Picogenerator, the brilliant "Downlow" percussion patch on the Korg NS5r, and what-all plugins I don't remember. Burroughs is played by David Wills (a frequent V/O talent on Celebrity Death Match) who also conceived the piece. As I say, hardly typical of my output, but a bit of a gas nonetheless.

OK. So I finally took the time to get some of my tunes up on my web site. They're not done, but the two that I've posted to http://home.attbi.com/~patazzmusic are in pretty good shape (I've still got some clean-up [some obvious glitches], trimming and fading, final bass parts, and mixing to finish) but they should give you an idea of what I do. I've got about 4 more that are in a similar state that I'll be publishing within the next couple of weeks as well.

Anyway, they are definitely in the contemporary jazz vein. What I'd like to hear most of all however, is what you think of the tunes. Looking forward to your feedback.

Thanks in advance...

Hey ya'll...I found some old Reels that I thought were lost forever.

These three tunes were recorded when I was 14 years old using a Prophet 600, Juno 106 and Rhodes.

"Driven" - My poor brother was forced to play drums along with my wanky sequenced bass...it was near impossible to get the Prophet 600 sequencer to loop in time so it has a bit of a stutter. He hated that!

"Warp Drive" - Early Electronica!

"I Don't Know" - I was still working on strumming the guitar in time:) ....oh and my voice had just changed so I was still relearning how to sing:) Not too much keyboard on this tune and it's kinda silly so you might want to skip to the next song :D

Thanks Steve! It seems like you're one of the last guys really doing the listening work that this thread requires. I appreciate that. Maybe we can all pick it up a bit.

Hi Y'all,

I've finally uploaded my first song called Sista Breeze at www.ampcast.com/ktempo where you can download it.

It may be "primitive" to what you great talented guys and gals are doing but it's a start :o . Let me know what you think of it.

Kim

I'm a "not-yet-qualified-musician-to-really-say-anything" guy, so don't take my non-professional opinion too seriously. But... the songs are quite well structured, and I know how hard only that can be to get right. The notable thing is how poorly the samples/instruments are choosen. I don't know but perhaps you should consider buying better equipment. The bass-sound/bassline in "Love Overflow" is completely wrong in my humble opininon. It should be a heavy long bass with kick overlayered. And the strings, well I don't know perhaps a bit too harsh?, using the same string-sample through a whole song is very annoying to listen to. Replace some of the electronic drumsnares with non-electrical snares too. Especially in the "snaredrum break".

"Windin road" could be a bit more original, but the composition & sounds work well together. Perhaps the melody (rhodessounding piano) could be fattened up abit by doubling parts of it with a basssound, and replace the synth-"whoo"'s with real ones.

In general ,for being a one-person-band, the drums and bass/melodies are quite OK.

I hope this was constructive critiscism.

Sorry it took so long to write this up (I listend to it right after you posted, just didn't comment - sorry).

Loved the Prophet Fugue, and really like this one too.

If you don't mind, IMHO the colors were a bit homogenous (maybe that's what you were going for). I'd like to have heard different but complimentary patches for each of the voices.

It could also use a little movement in the mix (panning, etc.) and potentially some delay

(stereo) as a substitute for the long reverb (Would still need 'verb, but less of it).

Well...there's no keyboards on this but I am a keyboard player and we do need an excuse to boink this thread back to the top so...

Here's some Live to DAT stuff I did with just Vocal and Acoustic Guitar in 1996...a lot of these songs were very new and in progress so there are some rough edges...decent songs anyway:

A friend has made a track using tape-loops (like throbbing gristle) and also has written an essay about manipulating tapes and a tape-deck to make your own loops (sorry, just in German!):

I recorded this little piece while learning CubaseSX...there's a lot of little problems with it like a short dropout in the main track and some clipping. I was setting my Audio Buffers, etc. as I tracked this one.

All effects, etc. are CubaseSX.
