FORUM CD: Volume 4 - shall we?

Recommended Posts

Okay,

So now that Volume 3 is officially history, I believe it's time to start on Volume 4.

I'm thinking another originals compilation.

I'm thinking about a 4:30 duration limit on the tunes. I dunno, something about 4:30 just seems kinda cool...it's open to debate, though.

I'm thinking about a September 30th deadline, so we can try and get these puppies out before Christmas.

So? What do you guys think? Anyone interested in contributing?

Yeah...count me in for 'volume 4' too!

I think the end of September is a reasonable deadline. My contribution will be 'electronic' style (I hate the term electronica). Are there any guidelines for original submissions -other than length? ~nel

You mean besides the fact that it needs to be an original composition, and that it needs to be done by Sept. 30th?

Nope. That's about it.

Must I commit right now? I wish to participate, but there are factors that might prevent me from finishing on time and I would hate to promise something that I couldn't deliver.

Is it ok if I give a tentative response?

LMAO! Not an original composition, but a masterful interpretation, none the less. Is that a Lowery Genie sample I hear?

I'll consider it a palate cleanser between "Deja Vu" and your next offering.

Can we submit material that we have produced and played on, but haven't necessarily wrote (it is still original material)? Any particular genre (gospel music anyone)?

Yamaha (Motif XS7, Motif 6, TX81Z), Korg (R3, Triton-R), Roland (XP-30, D-50, Juno 6, P-330). Novation A Station, Arturia Analog Experience Factory 32

I don't see any reason why not - one shouldn't have to be a songwriter to be able to participate...

...and there are NO genre restrictions AT ALL. :thu:

Nope.

Only three musts that I can think of:

1) Must be original music

2) Must be under 4:30

3) Must have a full rez (16 bit 44.1kHz) copy (CD, DAT, .AIFF or .WAV file) to me by 9/30/02

Now, you may be asking yourself - MUST it be keyboard stuff?

I don't think so.

I'm thinking that hese compilations are about the people who participate in theis forum; so - if someone like, say, Lee Flier wanted to submit a piece of music by her band that had no keyboards at all (Geez, Lee, send me the tracks - I'd be glad to drop some Nicky Hopkins-esque piano on it for ya! ;) ), that'd be okay with me.

Those guidelines sound about right to y'all?
