Hi Craig 'ol buddy. I just read through this entire thing. What an ordeal man!!! I personally would have called TC support to get the skinny..... but I would also have hit up the store. I know how it goes though.....especially if you were patiently waiting thinking a software release was imminent. Next thing a whole bunch of time has gone by...... and you are not getting the CS you expect.

I'm gonna take a different approach and wonder if you just happened to somehow end up going down the rabbit hole...... and that your experience was maybe not typical as to how most other customers get treated by Support/CS. That said......all it takes, with me anyway, is to be given one iota in the spectrum of bullshit from anyone at a company I bought something defective/not as advertised etc etc.......... and my attitude plunges.....quickly. Maybe the guy who said you were shit "out of luck" or whatever, was the catalyst for an un-saveable situation? They should find that dude and reprimand him. Tore seems to have taken your case seriously and I would give him the benefit of the doubt, you guys, and not be too cynical about his motivation for apologizing.

Aside from the issue of false advertising or the confusion over the supposed software VST controller.....which, knowing you a little I know is an important aspect to you........anyone for that matter.....shit should do what they say it should do.........but at the end of the day...at least you got your dough back Craig. I'm sorry that nobody at TC themselves.....in Canada or the US....... has written you to apologize. I'm certain if the CEO or whoever heard about this, you would get a written apology. You can bet there are those who would not want this getting to upper management. Maybe you should write the CEO.

As for Tore.......I'll bet he has been ordered to not discuss this or any other CS case at any forum or social site etc ever again. I know that Avid employees get fired for this type of stuff and non-disclosure is serious there. Avid.....another one of your favorite companies.

I have three TC products: An old TC Stereo Chorus + Pitch Modulator & Flanger, an M300 and a TC Helicon VoiceWorks. Man that VoiceWorks was an expensive paperweight. Over $750!!! :o Overall I am happy with the M300 as to what it was designed to do and what I expected from it. Quite frankly......the VoiceWorks cannot pitch correct or harmonize as well as my Antares Auto-Tune 7 or EVO Harmony Engine plug in's......which cost a fraction of the TC. The TC chorus of course, is legendary.

Sorry about the ordeal. I'm not good at handling BS as you know...... ......but my advice would be to close the book on it and let it go now, don't keep getting all wound up on it. The cycle has ended.....and it could have been $250 worse man. I'd also not become a dedicated TC naysayer. Bad juju....... just let it pass.

Just me. I'm trying to mellow out in my old age. It's hard without recreational drugs!!!!!!

Here is what I am curious about though. How exactly did you want to use your M350? I don't think I understand.

Did you want the actual M350 hardware digital reverb/effects processor on one hand........and also theVST plug in ...... the software version of the hardware unit.....so you could get the same/similar effects in your DAW......as you were getting with the hardware? (when the software version was released of course. If ever!)

For example....the Avid Eleven Rack hardware rack mountable unit.....also has an Eleven software only plug in version. Nowhere near as good/flexible etc as the hardware, but good nevertheless.

Or were you using the M350 as an external hardware insert....an external reverb/delay/chorus etc processor....... with your DAW........ and the supposed software was meant to be a controller that you could access settings with, stored parameters etc? ie If you went back to a session you could recall the exact settings you had etc?

OR did you not really have a plan, it's just that they did not deliver the software as promised?

Could you let me know what you wanted to do with it? I'm just curious.

I have quite a few hardware units...several reverbs, digital delays, multi-efx, compressors, mic pre's, rack tuners etc and they just sit there all racked up.....mostly for the pretty lights now.....that studio vibe!!!! LOL!! I keep telling myself I'm gonna use them as hardware inserts...... but I never do.

Tore tried to work with the guys at head office to fix this and in the end, was the guy who apologized. No one else said they were sorry for the bad treatment and hassle.

My issue wasn't with a single event but with the way the whole thing went down. From the first rude emails to the phone calls promising results that never came. It was a long road and I had given up on getting any results until things sort of picked up here. If it hadn't been for the vocal nature in which my friends here stood up for me, I'd still have the unit and would not have heard back from TC.

What they did was inexcusable. "Juju" or not, bad CS is a coffin nail in this day and age and these guys put me through the wringer. I won't be forgetting that.

As for my intended use, I needed a VST controller (not a stand alone effect) that allowed me to access the effects and settings on the unit and then recall them when I loaded a song it had been used in. (Trying to remember dial settings is a pain in the ass.) There was supposed to be an updated one, but it was never made.

.....bad CS is a coffin nail in this day and age......

It always has been but you are so right....especially in THIS day and age with all the options available, competition, internet sales etc etc. You better back your product with a smile a great attitude and with apologies for a bad experience.

That's what I figured.

Ah buddy.....no doubt. I have a couple plug in's that don't auto save parameters between opening and closing sessions, because they are *free* full functioning plugs and you have to buy the full versions to get the save function. For these I take snapshots the few times I use them. The times I forget it is a drag.

  • 3 months later...

I apologize in advance for the rant, but I've never been so frustrated with a company's customer service in my life. I actually came across this thread via Google and signed up for the board just to share my experience.

I performed one of their factory firmware upgrades on my Nova System that somehow left it bricked (no power surge or bad connections on my end -- have updated other gear without incident).

Contacted customer service and their response was "did you try to install it again?" "OK sounds like you need to send it to our authorized repair center"...who in turn refused to give a solid answer regarding an estimate aside from $90 labor plus $20-100 for "parts" (when in reality they'd likely flash the memory, no parts involved) and return shipping.

After coming across this thread, I saw that one of their reps made an offer to anyone experiencing problems to contact him directly. I figured that may be helpful, but 2 months later and aside from offering to "follow up with customer service", that has gotten me nowhere.

Overall, the situation left me very dissatisfied and feeling almost as if the whole thing is one big racket -- an update that leaves me with a useless unit that needs to be repaired by THEIR service center, with no solid answers to any of my concerns...

So now my dilemma is whether or not to sell the unit for parts or potentially pay more than half of what the unit initially cost me to salvage it.

Needless to say, will not be buying any TC products in the future and definitely would suggest researching other options if customer service matters to you. Customer loyalty is clearly not their priority.

This is really disappointing. When I had my studio, I had a M3000 Studio Reverb Processor, which I totally loved. However, after the shoddy treatment of so many people, I don't think I can trust TCE with my very hard earned money.

:mad::P:freak:

I really makes no sense to me...

Sorry to hear that they got you as well. It took me months of hard work to finally get a refund and wind up right back where I was before it all started. TC just doesn't care about their customers. Hopefully we can stop a few people from buying rather than getting screwed over and adding their stories here, afterward.

@Johnny Oak - I'm a big fan of the Boss GT-series multi-effects. I went over to multi-fx to streamline my live set-up, and the Boss multis have never failed me. I used a GT-3 live for over ten years, before upgrading to the GT-10. For a little back-up unit, I have an ME-25.

The Line 6 M13 looks pretty impressive, as well, but IME, the Boss units are somewhat more flexible. The Boss units will have some things the M13 lacks, like the Feedbacker, but the reverse is also true; Boss doesn't have anything quite like the M13's bank of Filter effects. Honestly, the Wah/Auto-Wah effects may be the weakest aspect of the Boss multis. If you're a devoted Wah user, that may be an issue for you.

You got one (me), so that's a start.

Yhup; me, too. While I still could be interested in select '70s/'80s VINTAGE TC E products, I will never, EVER buy anything new from them again; if it weren't for this thread, I might have bought a TC delay pedal a few months ago- I'M THANKFULLY GLAD THAT I DIDN'T!!

Now, consider how many people have read this thread, & how many more will read it in the future as a result of Google searches, & you start to get a sense of how expensive this sh#tty attitude has been for TC. How many $10,000s has this cost them? And all they had to do was say "Craig, we're going to make it right for you, one way or another."

Hey guys new member here...

I was about to purchase quite a few pedals from Sweetwater. A Vortex flanger, Flashback delay, hall of fame reverb, and a polytune. What made me want these were the youtube videos. Mostly PGS. They sound excellent.

Just did a quick Google first (like i usually do before buying) to see the reviews on the pedals and it brought me here. I've had to deal with CS from most companies with my past purchases MXR, Boss, T-Rex, Line 6... and everytime the issue was handled within a couple of days. At most a week.

Going to pass on the TC pedals and going to pick up some competitor brands.

A quick Google search just lost them a $550+ sale.

EDIT:

Just noticed this thread had over 21,000 views. 21 THOUSAND! Wow.

I was going to get the small Flashback delay. Now maybe not.....

Save your money. It's part of the TonePrint series, which has the footswitch mounted on the circuit board - if it breaks, it's dead.
