  1. Of course....neither is remotely possible. As for Pro Tools.......I have had it since waaaaaaaaay back on a DIGI 001 and I'm still learning new stuff. Not that I'm a power user by any stretch....but still. But the knowledge I do have...is why I'm so afraid/reluctant/gunshy etc to even try a new DAW. I got Luna free with my Universal Audio Apollo 8P and just cannot wrap my head around trying to even start learning the program. Some folks like it...same with Reaper.....but I'll stick with 'Tools until something happens that I have no option but to change. Maybe some folks just expect a lot or feel like it should work quicker/easier/faster etc and because they have chosen that particular 'thing' over other options out there..... that manufacturer owes it to them to make it all that.
  2. I have a mid 2014 MacBook Pro Retina that I experience a similar issue with sometimes. It's a 2.8GHz Intel core i7 with 16GB RAM. I've also noticed some sites' video's are slow to buffer while others like Youtube or Netflix etc just scream along no problem. Amazon Prime Video is pretty good too but I notice getting in to the program and getting going with a film is just a tad slower than Netflix. Once running it's fine. But yes.....definitely some sites are problematic. So it could be a website thing if all the advice given already does not pan out.....ie you have a fast, current computer with enough memory etc. I wonder if it could also be a cookie thing or spyware/malware getting in there and screwing things up a little? Maybe the security for these types of things is better at some sites than others. Youtube probably has top notch protection. But then again........I have no idea whatsoever how that stuff all works-hacking and yada yada. I just wanted to throw something out there to try forget, even just for a few minutes........that I just stepped on the jack plug that was plugged in to my 335 guitar and it broke the face of the guitar at the output jack. The wood is broken. So bummed!! It could have been a lot worse but I'm still assuming it will be a tricky repair and it will never look the same. Oh well.......I guess I'm not playing it for looks. AAAAaaargh!!!
  3. It always has been but you are so right....especially in THIS day and age with all the options available, competition, internet sales etc etc. You better back your product with a smile a great attitude and with apologies for a bad experience. That's what I figured. Ah buddy.....no doubt. I have a couple plug in's that don't auto save parameters between opening and closing sessions, because they are *free* full functioning plugs and you have to buy the full versions to get the save function. For these I take snapshots the few times I use them. The times I forget it is a drag.
  4. Here is what I am curious about though. How exactly did you want to use your M350? I don't think I understand. Did you want the actual M350 hardware digital reverb/effects processor on one hand........and also theVST plug in ...... the software version of the hardware unit.....so you could get the same/similar effects in your DAW......as you were getting with the hardware? (when the software version was released of course. If ever!) For example....the Avid Eleven Rack hardware rack mountable unit.....also has an Eleven software only plug in version. Nowhere near as good/flexible etc as the hardware, but good nevertheless. Or were you using the M350 as an external hardware insert....an external reverb/delay/chorus etc processor....... with your DAW........ and the supposed software was meant to be a controller that you could access settings with, stored parameters etc? ie If you went back to a session you could recall the exact settings you had etc? OR did you not really have a plan, it's just that they did not deliver the software as promised? Could you let me know what you wanted to do with it? I'm just curious. I have quite a few hardware units...several reverbs, digital delays, multi-efx, compressors, mic pre's, rack tuners etc and they just sit there all racked up.....mostly for the pretty lights now.....that studio vibe!!!! LOL!! I keep telling myself I'm gonna use them as hardware inserts...... but I never do.
  5. Hi Craig 'ol buddy. I just read through this entire thing. What an ordeal man!!! I personally would have called TC support to get the skinny..... but I would also have hit up the store. I know how it goes though.....especially if you were patiently waiting thinking a software release was imminent. Next thing a whole bunch of time has gone by...... and you are not getting the CS you expect. I'm gonna take a different approach and wonder if you just happened to somehow end up going down the rabbit hole...... and that your experience was maybe not typical as to how most other customers get treated by Support/CS. That said......all it takes, with me anyway, is to be given one iota in the spectrum of bullshit from anyone at a company I bought something defective/not as advertised etc etc.......... and my attitude plunges.....quickly. Maybe the guy who said you were shit "out of luck" or whatever, was the catalyst for an un-saveable situation? They should find that dude and reprimand him. Tore seems to have taken your case seriously and I would give him the benefit of the doubt, you guys, and not be too cynical about his motivation for apologizing. Aside from the issue of false advertising or the confusion over the supposed software VST controller.....which, knowing you a little I know is an important aspect to you........anyone for that matter.....shit should do what they say it should do.........but at the end of the day...at least you got your dough back Craig. I'm sorry that nobody at TC themselves.....in Canada or the US....... has written you to apologize. I'm certain if the CEO or whoever heard about this, you would get a written apology. You can bet there are those who would not want this getting to upper management. Maybe you should write the CEO. As for Tore.......I'll bet he has been ordered to not discuss this or any other CS case at any forum or social site etc ever again. I know that Avid employees get fired for this type of stuff and non-disclosure is serious there. Avid.....another one of your favorite companies. I have three TC products: An old TC Stereo Chorus + Pitch Modulator & Flanger, an M300 and a TC Helicon VoiceWorks. Man that VoiceWorks was an expensive paperweight. Over $750!!! Overall I am happy with the M300 as to what it was designed to do and what I expected from it. Quite frankly......the VoiceWorks cannot pitch correct or harmonize as well as my Antares Auto-Tune 7 or EVO Harmony Engine plug in's......which cost a fraction of the TC. The TC chorus of course, is legendary. Sorry about the ordeal. I'm not good at handling BS as you know...... ......but my advice would be to close the book on it and let it go now, don't keep getting all wound up on it. The cycle has ended.....and it could have been $250 worse man. I'd also not become a dedicated TC naysayer. Bad juju....... just let it pass. Just me. I'm trying to mellow out in my old age. It's hard without recreational drugs!!!!!!
  6. Thanks Myles. Does this apply to me? " Preamplifier tubes are also used to drive the power tubes. When used in this application, a 12AX7 will produce a more distorted tone than a 12AT7, which produces a clearer, sweeter sound. A 12AU7 is even cleaner and brighter than a 12AT7, giving more definition to the sound." I will do as you said though and try to find an Ei long smooth plate 12AX7/ECC83/7025..... I also wondered if I should upgrade the EL 84 and the other tubes? I heard they use "cheap" tubes in this amp. Sorry man...I am a player, not an amp fiddler and I never took the time to research what tubes to use...I used to let others do that who I am no longer in touch with. Appreciate the time.
  7. Hi Myles. I have a Crate V-18 112 combo with a single 12" speaker. As far as tubes, what can I do to this little fella to get a bit more "sparkle" out of it. I find it a bit muddy especially with a humbucker equipped guitar and at practice levels. I mean even with my old '64 Strat I have to employ an RC Boost with the bass backed off to get that sparkly tone. I notice that the bass control is over the top at 3-4 even while with the treble at 10 I am wishing for more. Another thing I notice is increased hum as I raise the reverb level. Any recommendations? Here is a rough schematic...LOL I am sure it is way basic but figured to throw it in. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d42/Gypsyfingers/Picture3-4.png
  8. Myles, I'm just curious if you have heard/played through a Crate V18-112 and if you have any opinion on it?
  9. Myles, do you know anything about these heads? I went to the Richtone site in Montreal but see no head that looks like it. Also their logo says Richtone Amplification. This head's logo is just Richtone. This amp sounded pretty darn good. What do you think of them? http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d42/Gypsyfingers/IMG_0068.jpg
  10. Thanks a lot. I only have a contact cleaner at this time. I hope that will be sufficient. What is the safe thing to do as far as current? Is just unplugging the amp ok to remove and re-install tubes or should I discharge the amp in some way? Also should the tube glass be cleaned with alchohol after handling?
  11. Myles I have an mid-80's Fender Twin Reverb, silver face plate, that I have not used in a while. When I fire it up it has a sound almost like transformer hum with occasional crackle that comes and goes. If I rap on the top of the amp it will go away for a while. It seems specifically related to the movement of the 6L6 tubes, in particular one of them is the worst culprit. I also hear a sort of very faint almost feedback sound sometimes after I have played something. If I play a loud note it might go away. It is almost like the tail of a note just keeps sustaining, but is more like some sort of microphonic deal. Very faint though and not volume related. If I turn off the volumes it is still there. Anyway, will taking out the tubes and cleaning the sockets and pins possibly help this hum and crackle. If so do I just use a contact cleaner or is there something you would recommend. I think they are Groove Tubes. Thanks.
  12. Howdy Myles. I have two amps that I would like your opinion on valve tube choice. The first is a Fender Twin Reverb, it has a silver face plate and was made in the early 80's. It has a "ringy" sound to it that I don't like. I believe it has Groove Tubes tubes in it, don't know what model #'s if any. I don't like super bright and I don't like a muddy low end and I would like the amp to break up when I play it hard. I have been told that the wiring and quality of the components in this amp is not so good, something about the timeframe it was made in. My Marshall JCM 800 does not have the EL34's in it, has some other tubes for the US market and I am always told they suck. So should I convert to EL34's for a better sound on it. What speakers do you like in Fender Twins? I don't like JBL's and EV's , too tight sounding to me. I realize I have been vague, I am hoping by the amp's description you will be able to tell me what has worked in the past that has pleased other owners of these not so hot sounding amplifiers. If you need more info I would be happy to dig them out and get that for you.
  13. Nice player this Brett Garsed. I listened to clips of his album Big Sky, too bad it is not available as an album download. I played with Toss Panos for about a year, nice to hear him again also. Myles, I have an old ADA MP-1 MIDI programmable pre-amp.I used to use it for a live rig, now it is in the studio but I don't use it. I seem to remember rants about it having a built in compressor that is on all the time and it gives it a sort of "ringy" sound. I once heard of a mod for this pre-amp that is supposed to make it sound pretty good. Do you know anything about this and whether it is worth pursuing. I have a POD for direct studio noodling, so I wonder if spending money on the ADA is worth it. Thanks.
