I don't think I ever posted the link here to our group's CD projects or at least for a long while, anyway... It's at www.dynrec.com/cof . On the Colors of Christmas CD, the first song, "In The Arms Of The Babe" is an instrumental I wrote. There is a sample at that site. If you click on the "Autumn Stroll" CD cover, you will be led to a page with samples of the songs on that CD all of which I wrote. Enjoy! Boggs

timrocker - get some air around that guitar sound, but keep rocking![/QB]
Do you mean that the other instruments need to be EQ'd to get them "away" from the guitar tonally, or do you mean to give the guitar a different treatment? I totally believe it needs attention. I just don't exactly know what it needs. The guy who does my engineering is kind of learning as he goes too. Has a Protools outfit in his basement. What do we need to do differently next time? Thanks.

I have just added another track so please do have a listen. Its called Panoramic Fantasy and is from our last album Ultraviolet. Listen to the guitar work by Ben Pegley paired with the sax and especially at the end of the track, it makes the hairs on my back stand on end... Enjoy :) Go to Panoramic Fantasy on the left of the page. Enjoy....

Here in DC one of the major radio stations (WPGC) used to feature local artists for a half hour on Sunday evenings from 9:30pm to 10:00pm. The show was called "DC Homejams". Our song "Weaker But Wise" was featured on the show once some time ago but the message seems even more relevant today so I thought I'd post it. The demo project was a collaboration of the following local artists- Jerry Wilder / vocals, rhythm track sequence Skip Fennell / keyboard horn arrangement Llyod Moore / guitar Lincoln Ross / lyrics, producer Would appreciate any comment, criticism or advice. http://mp3.washingtonpost.com/get_song?song_id=9651 Thanks Lincoln (the elder)

YaCaBaby, I finally got around to listening to the samples from the band's website, this morning...I managed to get an above-average speed on my modem  ...and I was almost in tears, that stuff is so good!! "Ultraviolet" is just...just...I dunno WHAT it is, other than fucking awesome!! And then I see that Gary's going to be sitting in with you guys! WTF!!! No slouches in your group, lemme tell ya. It's the stuff I've been trying to find since Level dropped off the US map since what seems like 'forever now' (heh). When I can scrape up the cash, I'll be ordering some discs.

If you want some full length tracks, go to the Soudclick page in my signature below and you'll find Slaptastic that Sean Freeman from Level 42 played on. Gary is a great person and we were really honoured that he wanted to join us on this new project on keys and writing aswell as Boon Gould who was our writer until personal stuff took over and that was more important which is understandable. As you know, Level 42 don't do that much apart from the winter tours in the UK and Europe now but fingers crossed the new album Mark King says is being written now will be nothing like his last album One Man.Lets hope he also keeps his word and we get a Sept release. We were the band chosen last year to support them on tour but due to the promoters messing things up, they went with a solo act who was pretty cool as was Steve Lawson from this forum the year before. When your ready to purchase a copy of our albums, let me know as we can get a triple album out to you at an exclusive price which was only being offered to people that mailed in. I'm sure we can sort things out for you. ;) Thanks again and keep listening as the new album is going to be a little different from 2 Double 01 or Ultraviolet but with some funky ole school. Thanks again and keep listening, we really appreciate people like you who make a difference in what we do. :thu: YaCaBaby x

I'd failed to mention I'd already heard 'Slaptastic'. hee hee... Boon Gould is one of your writers?!?!?! Okay, see...NOW I officially hate you. The lot of ya. And what's Phil doing these days? He kicked my ass three ways to Sunday with some of his drumming stunts. "the new album Mark King says is being written now will be nothing like his last album One Man" Let's hope so. I liked a couple of songs on that album, but it was distorted (e.g. 'Old Guard')...methinks someone hadn't the grasp of digital levels versus analogue. Hey...about "Talk To The Hand"...is the download that of elemental tracks or is that the complete tune?

Hey...about "Talk To The Hand"...is the download that of elemental tracks or is that the complete tune?
Well we dont hear much about Phil now a days but there were rumours that the original band were reforming and Boon released the news to quickly and it fell apart no doubt Phil decided that bridges couldnt be built again. I didnt really get into One Man but i really like Trash. Its raw and in your face and i think as a album with demos on, its a good effort. Talk To The Hand is actually a demo on the Soundclick site. We tend to keep our fans in the know as to what we do so we release the demos and see what people think of them and then finish it after and it tuens into a idea that fans have had a hand in...its a great way of working for us. Its a good way to make sure you dont do a 'MK' on the fans either. ;) Ultraviolet was written and recorded in 2 weeks so we couldnt do this with this album because of other things happening but i think this new one will be the best of all of them. I have more demos that i may add soon when i have time but i hope you liked TTTH because somehow that sounds like a anthum from this new album like Slaptastic is on Ultraviolet and Blue Sky Highway or Changes is on 2 Double 01. Thanks again for your comments and keep intouch!

Find an important frequency for the guitar, probably somewhere in the 2500-4000 Hz range; boost it with a parametric equalizer on the guitar, and cut it in competing instruments. Compression can level out the attacks of the guitar while you bring up the low-level detail, enabling you to bring up the overal level of the track in relation to other tracks. Reverb can make the track bigger or more distant, depending on how you apply it. Delay can draw attention to the track.

Hi Ya'll,.. Me and the guys(Bushcollectors)started working on our first album this week by recording the titletrack called : Bushcollectors As allways when I write stuff I started out with a beat and a bassline. Alex(guitarplayer) did his thing on it and I started cuttn and pastn. In 24 hours we came up with a very basic track which I'm writing lyrics for as we speak. The instruments have to be replaced and the tracks broadened out after the vocals are recorded. An mp3 of what we got is on our site. Thought it would be cool if you guys could here the progression in our work and give some usefull tips. This is merely a basic track with at 50 seconds some sort of rough guitarsolo. We use tracks like this to write the vocals on before we finish everything. The mp3 is at : bushcollectors

Fan, nu pissar jag taggtråd igen. Jag skulle inte satt på räpan.

boosh, very nice and funky.. Couple of ideas. you could change the key or go to a different chord. You could cut up the groove even further and take that snippet through some harmonic changes. You could play a different note on the bass and not change the guitar. You could hold the bass as a pedal and play the guitar a step higher and see what that does. Maybe after that tension it would lead to some other things.

There will be chord changes in some songs however. Bassline and guitar are just one bar and copied because the next step is recording vocals ,..after that the real bass and guitars replace these. Thanx ;)

schmee, magnificent. Do you perform this stuff with a live band? The opening hook is so good I wanted to hear it twice, in a row. I think it could use a dose of harmony too. Really nice. Real flute or a sample? the e piano sound could be better. Good playing though, maybe it could be a little more out here and there since you're already so slick ;-)

wish i had anything to do with it =p sorry, i am trying to get these fine lads more exposure and was curious how'd y'all would react, and to get them some qualitative feedback. they are indeed magnificent. OO Soul is the name of the outfit. all live, out of LBC. while they do use some samples for texture, the wind and string instruments, set/percussion, keys and vocals are all live. they've had a following in LBC at times but aren't really managed (they produce their own stuff too), so i'm going to try to help promote them on the web a bit more. here's some more: >> doble-O (mp3) :thu:
