Super 8
Originally posted by Quarryking: Hey folks..would greatly appreciate some mix/ recording feedback on the tracks listed in the following link...thanks a ton. http://basestudios.com/html/songs.html
a couple of thoughts: The overall mixes sounded a little bass heavy on my speakers. I like plenty of bass myself...it's an easy thing to over-endulge. The overall sound -especially on the keys- was very open and spacious. I thought they sounded good. In some instances I heard the keys trying to emulate accoustic instruments. I generally think this is a bad idea. Sometimes you can get away with it....most times not. My feeling is that if you plan to do a sax solo with a synthisizer, it is best to use a sound that approximates a sax, but still sounds like a synth. For example, I've heard David Sancious, while backing up Sting, play a sax solo using a breath controller and FM generated sounds. It basically sounded like a sax solo, but it was clearly synthetic. Nobody got the impression that he was trying to pass it off as a real sax. Super 8 Hear my stuff here

Tedster
I always have trouble listening to the soundclick website. Never works for me... :( For those who don't get over to the Collaboration Corner, here's my slower, slightly more laid back acoustic version of "Tears We Share" (the Tsunami 1 song): Acoustic Tsunami #1 Tune "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"

Yeah...you can never quite completely emulate acoustic instruments. That's a nice idea you've given. Have heard exactly in a Sting DVD...interesting sound they got there. Good to read that the keys sounded nice and open.. Thanks again for taking the time to give the tracks a listen.... Tedster
Steve, the track I listened to wasn't the one you posted. I couldn't get the "Jamfree" player to work. I went to another "Jamfree Radio" and clicked on something like "Friday night impromptu jams". That's where I got the impromptu bit, from your website. It didn't come from me. What I listened to was about a 15 minute long semi-free form jazz thing. It was quite cool. "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"

halljams
Hay rockers. I'm looking for comments on the stucture of this tune . I'm getting drums put on it next week and i'm not sure about how i have it ending. Does it feel lopsided? This is not mixed or edited or anything, still mostly a bunch of ideas. Please feel free to comment on what sounds weak. Thanks Check out SUPERVIBE
