  1. Vintage VIbe has 25% off all in stock parts (for Rhodes, Wurlies, etc.) Open Studio has 60% off all jazz courses and subscription passes (saw this mentioned by a previous poster but I'll pump it up... I've learned a lot from Open Studio)
  2. I think there has been a resurgence the past 5-10 years in interest in "vintage" synths of all kinds. But the price increases surely have been compounded by the pandemic-related appreciation of collectibles of all kinds. Baseball cards, NFTs... you name it, and the prices are through the roof.
  3. YES. +1 on that. That's what makes it a true couch/lap keyboard. The strap lets you play it with it on your lap while sitting on a couch. I keep the strap on it at all times and never need a stand. It's a lap keyboard This is fantastic.
  4. Just doing a little "window shopping" and noticed one of Kraft's "bundles" for the CTS1 includes a guitar strap?! I can't imagine this puppy is a candidate for keytar duties.
  5. Good feedback, Saskia. This board is still on my wish list. I'm trying to convince myself it is modest enough to count as a "stocking stuffer" this year.
  6. Nice! How many keys? Local or national retailer? Black Friday sale? (If yes, consider posting details in the Black Friday Deals thread)
  7. Lots of good advice on external tools but I think OP is looking for ways to improve the onboard overdrive tone in the CX3 without adding additional equipment. One other off the wall suggestion -- the CX3 has that unusual functionality where both sets of drawbars can be "joined" and used simultaneously to shape the tone of a single manual. I never messed with it much but OP might experiment to see if introducing the novelty of 18 drawbars to the organ tone might produce a better overdriven results to OP's ears.
  8. I sold my CX3 many years ago, but I recall the two Amp types did have noticeably different characteristics
  9. Exactly. The thing that brought me to the P3 in the first place was to have a lightweight board for ceremony/cocktail gigs that I could setup and breakdown very quickly, and something with internal speakers is ideal for that... it's a rare commodity, something with good enough speakers that is still lightweight, but the P3 fit the bill. Discussed extensively at https://forums.musicplayer.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/3111926 Thanks. I just realised I have already read and even liked your post in that thread before! That's a good thread. I opted for the S3 instead of the P3, mostly because I didn't want the extra weight of the speakers. Scott's rationale for his use case of the P3 makes total sense to me.
  10. Short answer: 45 minute drive is my max for a rehearsal. (For context: I'm a weekend warrior in a midwest city.) Long answer: OP's questions strike me as permutations of "is it worth staying in band X or taking gig Y?" I'm fond of the three factors laid out by other forumites: (1) good tunes, (2) good hang, and (3) good pay. The higher a project registers on these three factors, the further I'm willing to drive. I'm involved in one project that rates low-to-medium on these scales but practices just 10 minutes from my house, so why not. I'm in another project that rates high on all three factors, and I make the 45 min drive for that one.
  11. Nice rig. Thanks for posting. Although these pics make me a little jumpy thinking about how busy you must be during these solo gigs. Lots of devices to keep track of. Lots of parts to play. What is the purpose of each mic. One vocal? One accordion?? And I see at least a third mic.
  12. That's about $4500 in 2021 dollars. I'm happy there are folks buying the mark 8 at current price. I'm rooting for the company to succeed and to mass produce a MK8 Lite or MK9 at a price point like $4500. Then I'm in. Until then I'm jealous.
  13. Thanks! A bit of web research reveals recognition of the cosmetic similarities between the Multivox and the Roland, and some debate as to how similar they actually sound.
  14. What is Larry playing beginning about 1:03 mark of this video? Makes some spacey sounds! [video:youtube]
  15. You're a great member of the community!
  16. Thank you for doing this important non-glamorous task for our community.
  17. I suppose Rhodes has done me a favor. Were the Mk8 price ~5000 USD, I would've wrestled long and hard with whether to buy one. 10k is a nonstarter, so I don't have to waste time arguing with myself.
  18. So USD is around $11,000 and that's before any import costs. Then sales tax in CA another about $1100. Suddenly a fully loaded Apple 16" MBP with M1 Max and copy of Keyscape is looking like a hell of a deal. I wanted to talk myself into buying one of these but I can't justify at this premium price point.
  19. Here is soundcloud page with audio samples: https://soundcloud.com/user-509797554-985358061/sets/rhodes-mk8-prototype-sound
  20. That black sparkle with wood accents is a great combo. And, drawing on another recent thread. Is the notch on the wood music stand ledge wide and deep enough to serve as a tablet holder?!?
