Surely, every gigging musician has encountered those types of musicians for any instrument. I remember a drummer showing up to a rehearsal. He brought in cases containing a beautiful drumkit. The drumkit looked brand new and like it had never been played. That was red flag #1. The drummer was wearing fingerless gloves. Red flag #2. Immediately, I whispered to the guitarist who had brought him in not to get his own hopes up to high about the drummer's playing ability. Sure enough, after what seemed like an hour for the guy to set up, I called a tune with a basic groove. Any real drummer should be able to crush it. Dude couldn't. Red flag #3. Counted off the tune and I just looked at the guitarist who had called him. Partly to keep myself from laughing hysterically. That drummer should have been double-parked with the engine running. If a drumkit had already been set-up in the rehearsal space, he would have been dismissed 45 seconds after count off.🤣😎

In breaking news, the Buffalo Bills are trading WR Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans. This will be an interesting season for the Bills as they have blown up their WR corps. The GM is all in QB Josh Allen they trust. As if the QB room could not get any worse, the Commanders have picked up QB Jeff Driskell. Still hard to believe if the season started next, QB Marcus Mariota would be starter.🤬 Sadly, former NFL CB Vontae Davis passed away this week at 35 years old. May his soul RIP.😎

Most of the analog synth resurgence has been fueled by nostalgia and deep pockets. IMO, analog synths are no longer the music-making tools they were back in the 1970s and 1980s. Nowadays, musicians of a certain generation can afford to indulge in synths they could only dream about back in the 1980s.🤣 The younger generation of musicians have been tricked into believing there was something magical about old analog synths. That led to folks spending exorbitant prices for a Roland Juno 106. 🤑 Manufacturers have been able to cash in with synth reissues and *new* subtractive synths. The smoke will clear and dust will settle soon.😁😎

Electric Piano is my primary instrumental voice. Still, there is no way that *I* would spend $8.6k on this one-trick pony. Nowadays, we have several options to get the same flavor. 😎

Surely, all of the manufacturers are recycling the same sounds across multiple products and platforms. They have every right to do so as long as the tiny market demands it. The M1 piano became a staple of 1990s dance music. I do not recall the OASYS piano enjoying similar usage/popularity at any point in time.🤣😎

Here is yet another example of a manufacturer milking a bull.🤣 The OASYS engines and sounds were ported over to Kronos. The Kronos sounds showed up in the GrandStage as a digital piano. The Nautilus is a chopped Kronos. Some genius reached way back to the OASYS piano to port to a module/app. Build it, er, repackage and resell it and they will come.😁😎

I had a Prophet XL. It was a nice synth. Sample management was clunky. I learned some units had faulty motherboard and power supply issues too. I suspect the Prophet X will join the ranks of the Prophet 12 and Roland JD-Xa and similar synths.😎

As I mentioned in another thread, AI will be used to save time and money generating this kind of music.😎

Interestingly, the lowest rates of depression and suicide are in countries with less emphasis on academic and workplace performance, economics/finances and physical condition. Abnormalities of the brain leading to mental health issues is a very real condition. Otherwise, as human beings, we can do more to create a world of happiness. It begins and ends with love.😎

The RD88 was on sale for $999 a couple months ago. Maybe that was a Roland effort to clear out inventory and make way for the brand new Wegovy model with a Botox shot in the face.😁😎
