  1. The Akai MPC line of products has been sampler/grooveboxes renowned for its workflow in music production. MPC-based machines have primarily appealed to music producers in Hip-Hop, R&B and EDM. However, any style of music could benefit from it. The MPC KEY opens the product up to music producers and musicians alike. The sounds combined with the workflow make for a self-contained music studio. Once performance-oriented KB players wrap their heads, er, fingertips around it, the MPC KEY gives any ROMpler a run for the money.😎
  2. Some Roland sounds are on the harsh side. IMO, it's better to reign in the sound(s) at the patch level instead of adjusting EQ universally. You don't want to switch to a different sound and end up with a new mess.😁😎
  3. You're not alone in having an affinity for synths. At this point in time, a dedicated synth is just a fun noise-making piece of gear. Modern technology in the form of your Nord Stage or MODX or any ROMpler can provide a reasonable facsimile of any sound required to play music. Nowadays, there's really no need for a dedicated synth onstage. Not even for playing cover tunes from the 1980s.😎
  4. Yikes. Huge Steely Dan fan here. I have zero interest in spending that much scratch to hear Aja on a 45 rpm piece of vinyl.😁😎
  5. Cancelling the other order provides more time to explore the Hydrasynth Deluxe in-depth. There is quite a bit of synth power underneath the hood. Enjoy.😎
  6. The late Roger Nichols was the architect of their studio sound and one of the most important members of the Steely Dan camp. The heaviest lifting has already been done. All these cats have to do is transfer the gotd8mn songs to another medium without spilling,er, spoiling it.🤣😎
  7. Overcoming the logistical hurdles is just another test of how much you're wiling to put into the live act. 😎
  8. Even worse if/when one is reduced to wearing diapers and eating pureed food and taking a ton of medication to stay alive.😁 Hopefully, that was not his testimony. 80 years is a long time running on the train. RIP Mr. Betts. 😎
  9. It's cool that he revealed himself and secrets to his KB rig especially for those who dug the heyday of his music. Straight from the tap. No more speculation.😎
  10. HC Jim Harbaugh will insist on having a solid ground game. Hopefully, RB JK Dobbins can remain healthy to provide the lightning to RB Gus Brown's thunder. A balanced offensive attack should help QB Justin Herbert significantly.😎
  11. There's no lack of venues for playing live if the artist/musician/band is willing to rent a facility.😉 Again, it ties back to thinking like a business instead of waiting for a promoter or a venue to providing booking. Too many folks are stuck in the old mentality of relying on someone else to hire them for gigs. Those days are long gone especially for music that isn't in demand. Sometimes, gigs have to be created for an artist/musician/band that does not have a following already. It really helps to understand how the business of music works. Takes a certain level of effort to sell it.😎
  12. A novel idea is they could form their own corporation using angel investors.😉 As I've mentioned before, the Jamband scene is proof that artists and musicians or an AI act doesn't need a record label or that type of corporate backing in order to be successful. The biggest obstacle facing most artists and musicians is a lack of business knowledge. Too many artist/musician types would rather make art/music and let someone else do the heavy lifting i.e. selling it. That situation is drying up fast.😎
  13. That's where it helps to have a great traffic cop, er, bandleader or manager. 😎
  14. Musicians should approach being in a band like any other job or business. It should be all about the music. Leave that emotional sh8t elsewhere. 😎
  15. Established artists petitioning for a governor on AI ultimately provides more profits to the wealthy corporations holding their copyrights. IOW, the artists are rallying on behalf of the very same entities withholding their earnings i.e. their bosses. AI will definitely replace those who produce any type of background or incidental music. IMO, live performance will remain the permanent domain of artists and musicians capable of entertaining an audience.😎
  16. Nowadays, my vinyl and CD collection serves as a cheap audio source for waveforms.😎
  17. OK. We are one week removed from the event. I don't want to know how many folks have signed up for the Hellen Keller introductory course. I'd like to know if anyone is suffering from PED (Post Eclipse Depression).🤣😎
  18. Get the MPC Key 37 and don't look back. Thank me later.😉 I have an Akai MPC KEY61.😎
  19. Surely, stats matter as one aspect of the game. The overall game would be *better* if they actually *played* it.😁 The proof lies in watching college basketball tournaments. Those kids are playing their hearts out and it shows in victory and defeat.😎
  20. Nothing in terms of gear. I wish that I had more time to sit down and play music.😎
  21. Fixed that.😁 The *most* music seems to be produced with the *least* amount of gear.😎
  22. As I've mentioned in other threads mainly regarding AI, I believe the future of music lies in live performance. Any band configuration (solo, duo, quartet, etc.) and combination of technologies will suffice in the paradigm I envision. The audience expectation won't be predicated on hearing *hit* songs replayed in a cover band style. The end goal will be a fulfilling musical experience delivered by musicians creatively making organized noise. Brotha Craig, it is a natural tendency for some of us musicians and/or technical types aka nerds to overthink it. F8ck that. 🤣 Build and they will follow. Just do it mayne.😎
  23. With regard to how the games are being played, I would imagine the coaches have some input into running the offense, defense, shot selection, etc. By extension, the league bears the brunt of blame for everything *wrong* with the modern game. That includes the lack of defensive effort to offenses consisting primarily of isolation plays that feature one or two players to jacking up 3 pointers. Then, there are the contractual incentives that star players try to meet and coaches are encouraged to fulfill or deny. The business of putting on a show for money has corrupted the game on several levels. Yet, as sports fans, we still watch hoping for a *good* game.😎
  24. Nice collection of sound sources. Along with the other gear, should keep you busy for a very long time. 😁😎
