  1. IMO, LH Bass gigs should be approached as its own thing similar to an organ trio. Songs/tunes should be reharmonized as necessary to account for the pinch hit. Technology certainly provides KB players with a variety of instruments and sounds to cover bass duties too. Playing LH bass can be a total blast when done properly. Otherwise, a solid Bass player is worth their weight in B strings, er, bottom.😎
  2. Exactly. QB Michael Penix Jr. provides some type of insurance policy in the event that Captain Kirk gets crumpled and sidelined.😎
  3. Most Blu-ray disc players can play CDs. In fact, the Blu-ray player is better to have than separate DVD and CD players. That's also my excuse for having a Sony PS4.😁 I also still have a CD-RW machine that I can play CDs, copy and burn them too. Of course, I have a turntable as well. The only physical media devices I'm missing is a cassette tape deck and VHS machine. If the lack of an old device ever got to critical mass, I could resolve it with a trip to the local thrift store or pawn shop.🀣😎
  4. Noble of the head tech to take responsibility for the failures. Yet another example, regardless of advanced planning, meetings, rehearsals and soundchecks, etc., Murphy can show up like Waldo. 😁😎
  5. Same here. Surprised that QB Michael Penix was drafted in the 1st round only because of his injury history. Solid player when healthy Atlanta Falcons should be a good place for QB Penix to develop as a pro. No pressure to carry a franchise in year one.😎
  6. Not surprised. I remember when the Prophet 6 and OB-6 were shelf mates in the music store. Figured Obie would come down the pike with something similar to the Take 5. 😎
  7. This release reminds me of a fireworks display where everything fires at once resulting in a dud. There wasn't much of a display or show. 🀣 Another example of a manufacturer feeding their customer base bread crumbs.😎
  8. Bingo. Excellent story to provide context as well. As mentioned in several AI-related threads, the technology will mainly replace humans who produce disposable music. Gifted and talented and creative human will always be a step ahead of the rest. Throughout the history of art, such has been the case with peer humans. The same will be true when it comes to the algorithm which always has to be updated by humans. IMO, AI will never be creative.😎
  9. Nope. Just providing a word of encouragement to any 49er fans. 😎
  10. We own the physical media in our personal collection. We just don't have a right to make copies of it for sale.😁 Having a form of physical media that cannot disappear or become unavailable in the cloud is great. The bigger challenges are: 1) Deterioration. Warped plastic or corrupted data discs are real. 2) Playback device availability. Turntables, tape decks, CD players, VCRs, DVD/Blu-Ray, SACD, etc. As long as we maintain our personal collection and playback capability, we should be fine. The only threat to our enjoyment of such things is Father Time who is undefeated in the ring.😎
  11. @Reezekeys nails it with the powered speaker recommendation. Add a mixer if there is more than 1 KB in mix. Besides, if a KB amp is too heavy, it's time to find and get used to a light-weight powered speaker. No way around if the objective is to continue gigging. There is the option of switching over to headphones or IEMs and a mixer or talking the sound person into bringing a KB monitor.😎
  12. Detroit Lions have given WR Amon-Ra St. Brown a contract extension prior to him becoming a free agent after 2024 season. Of course, the Lions' deal will factor into future WR negotiations including 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk. Word on the curb is that 49ers aren't willing to pay as much. No worries. Jags, Steelers and Colts could be on speed dial to secure the services of WR Brandon Aiyuk. He'll land just fine.😎
  13. Correct. The plugins cover every ROMpler sound a gig could require. As mentioned, every other requirement is covered too. It will take some time for most gigging musicians to understand the value/power of MPCs as more than grooveboxes.😎
  14. Of course, humans have written songs devoid of emotion and craftsmanship too. 🀣 IMO, as long as AI cannot draw on that which makes us human, AI-composed songs will reflect that lack of depth in one way or another. 😎
  15. The target audience for those music festivals is probably concert-goers <40-years-old. Live music in local venues becomes more attractive especially as music listeners get older, er, more mature.😁😎
  16. I believe the expectation is that all heavy-lifting sound design and setup work will be done in advance. That way, only minimal controls will be necessary for real-time sound tweaks during a live performance. I hope here is a favorites bank or button to access sounds quickly. Especially considering the one second delay versus seamless switching.😎
  17. D8mn. My favorite color too. Might have to sign up.🀣😎
  18. Everything you wrote sbove is correct but this has always been the crux of it especially when it come to audio and high fidelity. People have been listening to and consuming music is less than ideal listening environments. Reverberant venues, phonographs, AM radios, TVs, mono speakers, vinyl, 8-track tape, cassettes, boomboxes, Walkman, headphones, Yamaha NS10s, iPods, MP3 players, etc. *Good* music always cuts through the worst recordings and playback systems. There is a blessing and a curse that comes with being an artist, musician, songwriter, composer, recording engineer, etc. An audiophile probably suffers the most.🀣😎
  19. Recorded music has always been like a business card albeit one that made a lot of money once upon a time. An album or CD or download let fans know their favorite artist/musician/band had new music. Live performances has always been where fans get a real experience. Funny thing...most live recordings will contain the audio and/or video of a performance but even they don't really capture the vibe and energy of being there.😎
  20. A card containing a QR code with a link to digital distribution will be handed out instead of CDs or USB drives. Music consumers will download digital files to their own USB sticks and hard drives. Technology has reached that point where a smartphone is the only thing a person has to carry in order to communicate, surf the internet, pay for things and listen to their digitized music collection.😎
  21. Right. That same $1k-3k can buy a brand new synth far more powerful than a Juno or any vintage piece of gear.😁😎
  22. That mark-up on an obsolete medium is ridiculous. Yet, there's a diehard CD enthusiast out there to whom it's a great deal.🀣😎
  23. Absolutely. Nick Semrad and J3PO actually *play* synths. True. It goes without saying or typing that folks should absolutely spend their money however they choose. My essay was mainly for performing musicians who struggle with trying to fit dedicated synths into their KB rigs for cover band gigs.😎
  24. As @Tusker mentioned, make sure the QSCs aren't an issue especially if the sound is fine in headphones or other monitoring situations.😎
  25. Yet, another example that the NFL is a money-making business first. Winning championships is a trophy prize. The funny part is the 49ers have already committed to reworking QB Brock Purdy's contract to a huge bag of money. No question or mention of what they can't afford.😎
