  1. Yeah. The only place I found that said available is Kraft Zzounds/American Musical only show a blemished and a factory resealed ad available. of course we know Sweetwater says none. Guitar Center/Musicians Friend say they have a couple new in stock.
  2. This maybe my favorite from the movie. The only thing I didn't like, and it still gets a visceral reaction when watching: The only time the camera would show Jerry Harrison or Bernie Worrell was when they were NOT jamming the tasty solo and licks.
  3. Yes I've learned as I get older: Get what you want/like. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks about your choice of instrument because, frankly, it just doesn't matter. Just look at my current sig line under "gig rig" It's like synthdogg said above, "I really just want to play, and I want to have fun and be inspired while I make music...so I'm going to make sure I have access to instruments that are fun and inspiring for me. "
  4. I already use Arturia Jup 8, Prophet V, DX7, in my Mainstage Rig. I use PianoTeq 8 Pro for pianos. Shows in which I would use the AstroLab would use my PX5S for the piano and EP based sounds The AstroLab would provide the synth sounds. As I said, this is for unique situations. For actual shows where we sync lights and video, etc.. My usual Mainstage rig will still be in use. In fact I just got my new Mackie DL16S digital mixer to make it easy to use my Fantom 08, as my 88 board, as well as route various sub outs as needed. I can't ever imagine ditching Mainstage for the big rig gigs. The other thing about the Astrolab: I'm a gadget freak. I love getting these things and seeing what I can do to shape them towards what I want.
  5. I just talked with my guy at Sweetwater. It is a popular item. I ordered one. Based on my several years of experience with Keylab especially the MK2 61, there is no reason to worry about build quality. Based on the dimensions and published weight, I'm sure this will be just as robust. "So why get one if you have the Keylab?" Fair question. "Options" I own all the Arturia synths since forever. Some shows I do absolutely make the computer setup a PITA. I'm always a 2 keys rig. 88 and 61 Also, the ability to do all my setup of sounds on the computer, then transfer them into Astrolab is a really neat feature. I envision using this on the "throw and go" municipal gigs above my PX-5S. These show we are not running click to sync with our video show, and don't need all manner of audio outputs for various things. I read an earlier comment here making fun of this being called a "stage" keyboard since it's only 61 keys. What? My Fantom 06 and MODX 6+ might have something to say. Will the Astrolab be for everyone? Of course not. That's okay. For me, it checks boxes for the specific uses I would use it for. As do ALL of my various keyboards.
  6. whatever it is, I've got my popcorn ready for the show that will takeover KC for a bit.
  7. That is really odd. I've had a Keylab61 MK2 since they came out with the MK2 (replaced my original MK1) I have not had any discoloration of the keys on my Arturia, or any other keyboards. I don't store my keyboards in cases. When home from a show, they come out of the case, cleaned if necessary, and put on my home practice stand, or on a shelf.
  8. Both of the hardware boards in my gig rig setup can function as an audio i/o
  9. Greg, You want to get the D-Sub panels. Sturdy and largest selection of connectors for them Another vote for Redco 1/4" Passthru 1/4" wire it yourself Inside my SKB 4U StudioFlyer rack case Front side Backside with Labeled connections
  10. It's actually quite simple. The thing about the Montage/MODX is that the deep diving is meant to be done BEFORE you take it out to gigs. I personally love the Superknob and all that it lets me do without taking my hands off the keys.
  11. let's put full test. Caution.. turn back now if George Carlin's dirty words offend .... . . . . . . Rat shit bat shit, dirty old twat. Sixty-nine assholes tied in a knot. hurray ,lizard shit fuck!
  12. Testing this myself... I was on a forum that was family friendly. I brought up something about the town of Milford, Ohio. It got kicked for using the word 'Milf'
  13. The only time the logos on my boards were covered were when we played the local segment of ABC's Good Morning America back around 2010. It was the network and not me who did it. It was also a 5 am load in to be ready for our 7 minutes of fame at 9 am
  14. I really liked listening to Tim's review. I enjoy his clear voice, and way of explaining things. Thanks for posting this @niacin
  15. Okay as Moonglow said, that was fun. I enjoyed it for exactly what it was. I don't do a deep dive into these things. I just enjoy the jam. I think we take ourselves too seriously at times.
  16. REDCO has made all my snakes for me. I use their Snake Assembler page on their website. They are solidly built and last. My oldest one is 9 years old, and no issues.
  17. My Keylab 61MKii is my favorite aftertouch implementation of the boards I have/have had with AT. I have learned how to be expressive with it. On patches I don't want it, I filter it out in whatever hot I'm using (Mainstage, GigPerformer, etc..) Anther company that gets it right is Alesis, with their old VortexMK2 Wireless. That keybed is golden, to me.
  18. The only cell phone videos of us I don't like are the ones where the person is standing right up at the stage, so the phone picks up the audio of the monitor. Invariably, it is a 'horrible' mix, as far as FOH, as it's what the particular band member wants dialed in. When it's posted, it makes it seem like the FOH engineers has no idea how to mix, or it makes it seem as we have no awareness of how own instrument levels. Other than that, I enjoy watching us play.
  19. All good advice here. Something to keep in mind, and I see someone mentioned it. You may consider getting another Montage or MODX+ Most like the Superknob was adjust more than one parameter at the same time (the beauty of the Superknob). I make extensive use of that on my MODX+
  20. I have the iK B3X. Love it. I will use it live when it's the only thing I'm playing. For live use in the band, I use the CMC preset pack. It is wonderful within my band setting. He does some really good work with Mainstage/Logic sounds
  21. In my Journey Trib Band: I use Arturia Jup8V for the intro sound, and the body of the song. Until the pre-chorus part of the verse, the main Em D C part has a little slower attack and fast decay. Pre chorus and chorus is fast attack The intro tone is a bit different than the verse tone. So, I use my 88 note board, split, of course. Intro part up top, main body everything lower than that. The high Piccolo type sound during the breakdown, is a completely identifiable part of the song. I use my 61 note board up top, with it programmed on the lowest E to B. I use Arturia ProphetV, and dialed my own so it cuts thru I am using a little Dimension D chorus...very little, and slow rate on all. It helps fatten the sound.
  22. The one keyboard that always holds a special place for me was my original Prophet 600. It was a birthday present from my parents in December 1983. It introduced me to MIDI, computer music, etc.. I was 20..about to be 61 in 2 days.. Looking back I wish I'd kept it. I spent hours upon hours exploring synthesis, and this new-fangled (to me) MIDI. Hooked to an Apple 2E. Its that start that ingrained how MIDI works into my brain, and helps me do what I do today. Ahhh....good times <sigh>
