  1. Here's why I like the new CK's: First, I had a YC61. Great board. However, I did not get along at all with the control layout. Looking at the CK panel, and the manual; I've already quickly seen how to navigate it. I like the way the CK groups various things together compared to the YC. Again, I liked my YC, but I found I had to think too hard in a live situation when wanting to make real-time adjustments. Just my$2.50 on the subject
  2. True, but unlike the VR-09, at least this has good MIDI Implementation
  3. I've been using my Keylab MK1 (3rd gen) and now my Keylab MK2 61 for years. It is built like a tank. I've never had any breakdowns. The aftertouch implementation is one of the smoothest I've every played. You can get very nuanced. I made extensive use of the Midi Control Center software for it to customize pretty much all the buttons, knobs, and sliders, to meet my needs. Obviously I'm a big fan.
  4. Just from my perspective: even with my years and years of trouble free Mainstage use live, my setup ALWAYS has one of the boards be something like a MODX or Fantom-0 A typical setup has my Fantom-08 with Arturia Keylab 61. When I'm bored, I'll use my Roland A-88MK2 with MODX+6 up top
  5. Hey Paul, Have you looked at the Roland U.K. page? Roland U.K You may have some luck contacting one of the several places Roland lists in the U.K
  6. Just to be clear, I don't use a hand truck or cart all the time either. It's just for those gigs where the load in is a mile and a half down twisty hallways, and old elevators Most places we play these days I can back right up to the dock with direct access to the stage. I do like that cart @AnotherScott shared with us. I might have to check it out.
  7. My guitarist and I are very fond of this. Not cheap, but solid and configurable. I can roll my Fantom-08, MODX+ 6, Z-stand, or APEX stand, piano bench and rack over all surfaces. Edited to add: The brand is COSCO
  8. In my travels thru hardware store years ago I stumbled upon the Craftsman anti-fatigue mat. On gigs where I'm standing and not using the piano shell, it has really made a difference. Another thing I find interesting. When I wear my old cowboy boots my back and legs feel good at the end of the night. Perhaps it's the raised heel. No amount of shoes with built in foam/gel or Dr Scholls inserts eve made a difference. Now with my mat and boots for standing gigs, I'm fine
  9. Not 5 minutes after halftime did all the Oompa Loompa memes begin showing up everywhere.
  10. I like Rhianna, and I also thought her halftime show was bad
  11. For those times I'm running XLR out of my rack to FOH, I have a pair of the Radial Ice Cube boxes. They prevent 48v coming to my gear, and also clean up any possible bad stuff.
  12. I thought that was the best part of the show. Stevie Wonder Greg Phillinganes Smokey Robinson and the sons of Boyz II Men's Wanya Morris bringing it old school
  13. Yoko Ono ALWAYS sends me into fits of rage when I hear her do what she calls singing. To me, it is like the proverbial fingernails on chalkboard reaction. I really do get a bad visceral reaction.
  14. Way back when I lived in Arizona, I had a friend who's dad was the MD and Organist for a church that had a beautiful Pipe Organ LOUD, and booming. We went there one day and his dad let me play it. I don't think he was prepared to hear Green Onions bouncing off the walls and stained glass. It was really cool for this then 19 year old to feel that power under my fingers.
  15. More INFO On your RD88, make sure to turn OFF USB-MIDI thru On your A800 Pro, find the MIDI menu, and make sure MIDI I/F is set to "ON" This 'forces' the A800 to send MIDI thru the USB cable Also, for now, on the RD88 set Remote Keyboard Switch to ON. This will have your RD88 respond to your A800 on any channel. That way you can at least get up and running. You'll want to have that off if you only want the A800 to play RD88 parts on a specific channel. i.e., RD88 plays it's own piano sound on Channel 1 A800 Plays RD88 Synth part on Channel 2, etc..
  16. Not sure if it’s the same architecture, but I have hooked my Roland A-88 MK2 to the RD88 and it works; playing the RD from the A-88 On your RD88, make sure the key switches are on in the scenes. Also make sure RX is on for the parts of the scene you want to control.
  17. When I use my Keylab 61MK2 over my Roland Fantom -08, I use one of my spare Roland PSB-5U power supplies. It's 12v 1.5a and the proper polarity. My Keylab like it. Heck I power it this way even when using Mainstage
  18. It’s not a true band trip unless we stop at Buc-ee’s. On all the years we’ve been doing this, we’ve never seen guy. Well that changed today 😂😂😂😂
  19. Here's another take: I actually find it more distracting when I see logos taped over on stage. It brings attention to that part of the keyboard they want us to 'not see'. The only time I've had logos blacked out is on live tv.
  20. I think he's running his text thru the Retro Encabulator. However, I think the two spurving bearings are not aligned, so side fumbling of the panametric fam is NOT being prevented. Unfortunately, the Lotus O-Deltoid method has broken down, so he's getting capacitive deractance. The result is what you see here in the odd final translation.
  21. Craig and Docbop are right on Another thing I have seen many 'local' sites where people use the for sale section to promote their own stuff. "For sale: used kazoo.... and while you're here, check out my music on whateversite . com" The for sale sites soon become just a spam fest, so they restrict that
  22. I caught a very obscure video years ago of here playing it years ago on an actual grand piano. She warmed up with some cool chops, then launched into the song.
  23. Yeah Cat has been with Wayne Brady for a long time. Was MD on the short lived Wayne Brady Show. Cool dude and player
