  1. I agree, they don't sound as high fidelity as my pole mount speakers. But when I play next to a guy with a wall of Marshall's, my little 8's get swallowed up. I mean, sometimes I get a decent monitor mix, but not usually. I have to be able to hear myself. The house guy can make it sweet out front.
  2. They go in road cases with casters, and get loaded and moved by crew.
  3. I bought a pair of the Laney AH-300 amplifiers. They are really loud and clear. They will be my stage monitors. They don't sound as clear as a QSC 12.2, but they have more body, more room filling presence. They can be ungodly loud and clear. I'm happy with them and wondered if anyone else has noticed this gem?
  4. This happened quick - I now have a licensing certificate to produce and sell my 6 minute version of In A Gadda Da Vida. The owner is Doug Ingle, Iron Butterfly Music, Ten East Music, Cotillion Music Inc. The license is for digital download sales only. ASCAP will forward Cotillion Music Inc 16 cents from each sale that happens on Spotify, iTunes and others. I can sell copies at any price I want. Release date is April 15th. It's a really cool version I came up with - I'm hoping it's well received. I'll post it here when it gets back from mastering - I don't trust my 67 yo ears enough to master this down, but I have a guy in the Western US that makes stuff sparkle. He also makes it so no matter what device you're listening through you can still hear everything in the mix and it sounds good. It's worth his fee. Going to be a week or 10 days.
  5. I had an interesting development concerning the "Something" Anniversary Video I made for my wife and posted on Youtube. Whoever owns the Beatles publishing rights to that song successfully filed a copyright infringement action against me. I am allowed to leave the video on Youtube. I can perform the song live, but it has to be listed in my ASCAP account. It is the responsibility of the venue to forward royalty payments for the publisher to ASCAP. I cannot try to monetize the content in any form, like Spotify or iTunes. There's more. They took that audio recording away from me basically, but hey, my bad - I should have been thinking about it. For the record - I made that in one day to surprise my wife - my singing sucks - it's not worth a red cent anyway. I am finishing up a remake of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" this week. I do plan to monetize it. I found a company to help with licensing. I'm sure most of you already know all this. I'm just an old retired lounge hack trying to have fun I have a lot of musician friends. Things have changed, I guess we have to be aware of this stuff. Anyway, that was a complete surprise to me...
  6. The VB3m website days IOS 9.3 is the minimum. That would be iPhone 4s - IF I'm not mistaken.
  7. I have nothing to help with, but you did remind me it's been ages since I listened to this - https://www.amazon.com/Organ-Ized-All-Star-Tribute-Hammond-Organ/dp/B00003OP46 I think I'll dig it out today and re-enjoy
  8. I saw Leslie West in 1981 at the Rainbow Music Hall in Denver. They did the Mountain material, but the show was booked as Leslie West. I saw the Dixie Dregs at that same venue and sat right in front of T Lavitz. What a great show. That was a really awesome venue.
  9. I downloaded the Rhodes VST and had a lot of fun. It inspired me to find a Wurly and I stumbled across this - https://adammonroemusic.com/wurlitzer-vst/am-wurlitzer-vst-plugin.html . I bought it becuase it was only $25 US. Been having fun with this, too
  10. I was unaware of the Nektar. Thanks for that. Wish I had a music store nearby so I could check this stuff out. The price is very affordable. I may buy one out of curiosity. I did have a Arturia KeyLab 61 a few years ago, connected to a Virus TI Snow. It was ok. I learned the Steely Dan thing for a wedding. Didn't hold on to the Keylab for long though.
  11. I've always used these - https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/EB6165--ernie-ball-6165-500k-stereo-volume-pan-pedal I don't know if the 500k is right for keyboards, but they work dandy and are built like a tank.
  12. I recently bought a Korg Kross 2. I like it, and am keeping it, but the keybed sucks. I'm looking for a 61 key controller with a good keybed - non hammer action. The Arturia Keylab 61 MKII 61 Key is about the best solution I can see online. The reviews are sparkling with praise, but... Any real world advice on this controller or perhaps a better solution? Thanks, Jim
  13. Here's an example of the sound of a Kross 2. I'm pretty impressed for the price I paid new - about $850 US. This is a clip from one of my promo vids for my solo act. I'm going out with the Kross 2 and a JBL Eon One, both on batteries. Anyway, dig this guitar patch in the factory presets. And the piano is the default Kross piano. Not bad.
  14. I have a Korg Kross 2, a Mackie Mix12 FX mixer, a clone Gopro camera, A Presonus Audiobox USB96 interface, and Presonus Studio One Artist. I also have a pair of pole mounted 8"/tweeter speakers and headphones, and a Shure Beta 58a. I have a goal of making a minute long promotional video of my Christmas solo act. I have everything connected and working. I'm not sure if everything is connected optimally though. I think my biggest question is - can I connect the camera mic input to the Tape out RCA jacks on the mixer? I have all the cabling and adapters to make it work. I don't know how to check my line level is ok - haven't got a clue except connect it and test record with the Tape send from my mixer. So, I have the keyboards and mic input to the mixer. The L/R Main out from the mixer into the L/R input of the Audiobox. The Audiobox L/R outs go to my pole speakers. I'm able to record tracks in Studio One. I want to wire in the camera as soon as Amazon delivers an 1/8 stereo extension cable today. Should I proceed with that wiring, or should I just run out the mixer straight into the camera? Then download the recorded video into my computer for editing? I'd rather have everything wired for anything I might do and not have to be swappin jacks depending on if I'm using the camera or not. Hope that makes sense. Here is recording through the mixer to the interface to Studio One. I think the audio quality is ok. Please advise me on connecting this all together, and thanks in advance - Jim
  15. Those Alto speakers have to be on poles. They won't work on the floor. I want a pair of these - JBL EON One - they run on batteries.
