Dig My Rig--Let's see your setup!

My setup with the blues/soul/funk/rock band..

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa20/tucktronix/12744301_10206052984059769_2793002512991503711_n.jpg

Tuck', that rig smells real sweet to me, somehow. We all like to gear-snoop, but those three 'boards feel almost Herbie- or George-Duke-like to behold. I got to see George with Zappa once and then with Billy Cobham in a trio, which your setup echoes a bit. You've got the Big Three (piano/organ/synth) well-covered. If you need anything more out-there than the basics, the Casio will back the synth nicely. That library is way bigger than many people realize. That looks like an UltraNova on top, which reminded me of seeing George stand up and play a MiniMoog with real greez. Helluva treat. Good pic, too! Have t-shirts made of that one!

My setup from a big church event tonight in Tasmania, Australia.

Bumping gear in/out was not fun, but the playing of things was pretty okay!

My even more compacter (is that a word) live rig. All in a single vertical array with the Motif ES and the RME Fireface UC (8x6 mixer and 2x2 MIDI) in the rack under the Nord. I was able to "86" the MOTU 128 and Ashly mixer. It all fits better on tiny stages and takes 15 min to set up. The Win10 2in1 shows Cantabile and the RME mixer UI.

I like that setup! Do you bang your legs against the rack at all? Is there any height adjustment on the stand or is it in a fixed position?

@ShadowMan: Al nailed it. It's custom made from Ultimate Support System A-Frame stands from back in the day. I watch eBay and CL, every now and then pick up good deals and disassemble all the tubes and "T" connectors. You can make just about anything with a tube-cutter and a tape measure and they're super light and strong. Only drawback is they don't really collapse so I transport it all put together. Fits in my car though and the two keyboard cases fit right inside the "frame" as it lays on it's back in my SUV. Looks sorta like this when it's transported, the tablet arm swings out and up to mount the computer, and the two support bars go 90 degrees to hold the Fantom X6:

@DanL: I did when I tried this arrangement using a 4-space rack. Slamming the kneecap was kinda painful, so I had to put the rack off to the side on a separate stand. With the 3-space I occasionally hit the bar but it contacts the tendon about 5cm above the kneecap and doesn't hurt a bit. I'll be cutting it to a 2-space when I switch from the Motif ES rack to Halion Sonic in a couple months, then it won't be a problem at all. Regarding the height, it is always the height that I cut the vertical tubes to and cannot be changed.

Bruce, where did you get the white-topped Wuril? Did you paint it? Looks sharp!

The lid on this Wurli was in horrible shape when I got it - full of holes and a band's name was CARVED in the rear. I sanded the texture right off so it is smooth as can be, then used Krylon Fusion spray paint. It's hard to tell that it's been painted - looks like white plastic.

My thought was banging knobs with your knees or something. Doing a 3 tier with space for my rack would be killer for my Floyd band, have it all in 1 place and easy to move on and off stage with some wheels.

Nah, The way the rack is set back a fraction, my legs will always contact the cross-tube before ever hitting a knob.

Three-tier might be tight if I played sitting down. The bottom board would have to be too close to my knees to allow a rack under it (38"/96cm inseam I have). A three-tier concept DOES look good with these USS Tinker Toys though. I was rocking this knee-banger for a minute...

Loved last night's rig! The Earthworks piano mic system was used for amplification. Nice club in NYC called 54 Below. I was told by folks in the audience that it sounded great but wish I had asked someone to play during soundcheck so I could have heard the mic'ed sound myself. Of course the acoustic sound was killer!
