kanker.
Yeah, that's from a solo concert in Japan, Solo Tribute, I believe. The whole thing is amazing. Keith is the man. A ROMpler is just a polyphonic turntable.
Jazzwee
So many threads about him recently -- but I'm surprised no one mentioned that he is featured in the latest Keyboard Mag with a great interview. Apparently it is a multi-installment piece. Hamburg Steinway O, Crumar Mojo, Nord Electro 4 HP 73, EV ZXA1

BTW There are several great Jarrett interviews on past issues of the magazine, from different periods.
Gulliver
He is an amazing musician, no doubt, but I must say that I would like him much better if he would STFU while playing... Also his attempts at screwing a piano are not too pleasing to watch either. Just my opinion. I am back.
yannis D
and the most importand about him is not what he plays, but what (he choses not to) play...thnx carlo Be grateful for what you've got - a Nord, a laptop and two hands
Clarke Wyvill
I agree, Jarret is the man. I only recently got turned on to him after seeing a documentary about his life. His approach to music is inspiring and his technique is just sick. Gulliver I agree, the grunting and moaning is rather annoying, not so much that it is distracting, but that if I listen to any of his live concerts my roomates almost always think I'm watching porn. That said, I always thought it was kinda cool that he knows how to smack around a nice grand piano now and then. ~C http://www.myspace.com/electricmonk
orangefunk
I just got hold of a nice 1972 concert with Haden and Motian. I'll upload a bit too youtube when I have a chance. Of course theres the Jarrett rhodes clip I uploaded too

Bridog6996
Notice the complete absence of sustain pedal, which is so often overused in solo piano playing. I only heard him use the pedal perhaps once during that whole 8 minute video. What an amazing pianist. My YouTube Channel
NoahZark
Amazing. I'm reminded of Bobby Jones' famous quote after seeing Jack Nicklaus play golf: "He plays a game with which I am not familiar." (Not to say that I'm anything close to a Bobby Jones of the piano, but you guys presumably know what I mean.) Noah

Bridog6996
That doesn't neccessarily mean anything with Jarrett. I've seen him on other occasions use the sustain pedal even when standing. My YouTube Channel

Yes, we have eyes, we can see that he looks like complete geesch when he plays, and we have ears, we can hear him groaning and singing along. Need it be pointed out? The same way you can say we have ears and don't need to hear all the time that he is good (only sometimes for me anyway) it's "free" forum I guess and we may point out whatever we want, as long we don't point to a place where sun never reaches ♫♫♫ motif XS6, RD700GX
burningbusch
This is from 1987. I've seen him recently in concert and have all his newer recordings. I don't hear him "singing" any more. Assume he's stopped doing it. Assume he made a conscious effort to quit. If you can sing like George Benson, fine. Otherwise, shut up. Busch.
