  1. Thanks again everyone; much appreciated! Stay well!
  2. Lots of great info here; many thanks and stay well!!
  3. Hi all, Hope you"re all doing well in this time of quarantine. (Losing family and friends to Covid-19 is painful and surreal and I hope you don"t have to experience it.) I"ve got some gear questions for you: I"m considering my next keyboard to be a Nord Stage 3 HP76 to replace my decades old Motif. Vendors are currently offering installment plans with no interest for 3-4 years, depending on the vendor. My specific questions are: 1. Any regrets about this board; any weaknesses I should be aware of? 2.Does the Leslie simulation gradually speed up/slow down like a real Leslie, or is it just fast/slow? 3. I notice that Nord sells a triple pedal, similar to that of a piano. Can the 2 non-sustain pedals be assigned to other functions? Can one of those be assigned to Leslie speed up-slow down? 4. The acoustic piano sounds seem to be a drastic improvement over those in my old Motif. Can I assume that they are WAY more playable/expressive than the Motif? 5. How are the various Rhodes sounds? 6. Anything else about it I should know? Thanks in advance, and stay well!! Cnegrad (Mark)
  4. Greetings, Do you have a favorite folding chair to take to gigs? Preferably one thats cushioned, with a little back support? I definitely dont want a stool; thats too high for me. Any links would be greatly appreciated; thx!
  5. Well said, Marino. I agree wholeheartedly.
  6. Interesting; for me, once you get to an octave above middle C (jazz single line soloing range), it becomes obvious.
  7. ...and as long as I'm whining, this is what I posted in ITGITC's post on Facebook: "That actually brings up one of my other issues with this release: Other than the Rhodes and the acoustic piano, few of these sounds are culturally relevant anymore. Man, how I wish I had that dyno rhodes back in the day, but now it would just make my tracks sound dated. (...and I ADORE dyno Rhodes!)"
  8. I'm sure that it's the most amazing C7 ever, but it still screams "C7", which to me is a negative. I used to have the same issue with the K2000 piano. For me, if a sound is that identifiable, that's a problem. That's why I've switched from Ivory to Ravenscroft. It's not immediately identifiable, and it has a great character to it.
  9. I want it for the Rhodes sounds, but not much more. Because of Ivory, I'm tired of Yamaha C7's and wish they would've sampled anything but. But those Rhodes are killer, though...
  10. Thanks, my friends. After "flying a desk" for so long, it's nice to just do this for the fun of it. Dave, I kept the soloing truncated intentionally, as I know that many of my non-musician family and friends wouldn't "be able to hang". This version walks a pretty fine line between "somewhat semi-accessible" and "pushing my luck". Steve, the drums were a mélange of different sources, Stylus RMX, Logic and some third party stuff. And Logic was the daw. Linwood, I'm unable to stream your tune beyond the first few bars of the vocal. Having any technical difficulties? I'll keep trying. Guys, I promise to catch up on my listening. I've been so focused on getting this done, and I have very little spare time these days...
  11. I haven't contributed to this thread in quite some time, so here's some Christmas cheer: O Jazz O, Jazz Emmanuel
  12. Wow David; I loved it! Perhaps my favorite thing that I've heard from you! You kept my ear surprised. Unfortunately the Divshare player crashed on my iPhone before I got to your quote at the end. But thanks; I really enjoyed your approach. I love the playful humor in your improv.
  13. Steve, I wasn't suggesting a musical comparison; I was just responding to one outrageous musical surprise with another.
  14. ...and in case anyone cares, here's Stevie Wonder blowin' on Giant Steps:
  15. Eldar had a kid? Unbelievable....
  16. Leon, What does 20c refer to?
  17. I'm cross posting this from Tom's other thread, because I wanted to turn you guys onto this: The new release from vocalist Denise Donatelli is absolutely knocking me out; not so much because of Donatelli, but because Geoff Keezer's arrangements; deep stuff! Linwood, you'd probably like this one. Here's the iTunes url... and for those of you who are anti-iTunes, you can check it out at Denise's site, located here.... This one is a Reharmer's delight! Enjoy....
  18. Loving it! The reharm on Lazy Afternoon is knocking me out. NB: This is Claus' second treatment of this tune, the first being on Freddy Hubbard's 'Love Connection.'
  19. SK, I see that you like a little Rhodes with your distortion!
  20. Kad, How many voices were there? Any doubling or chorusing used? It's very thick....
