  1. George. You're in Nashville. You probably know all these singers names. They're professional BG singers and solo artists. I'm not surprised that someone would think they can't be that good live, but they are. Yeah, if there was audio post production done to that extent, the guitar solo would have been boosted, because at times it's almost inaudible compared to the EP in both the solo and the ride, and the guitar player is too good to deserve that kind of treatment, heh. We're going to fix the BG's with a post gig session, but not Larry Carlton simply with the mix?!?
  2. Happy Birthday Carlo! Great to finally "meet" you the other night!
  3. Still going, heh. I just popped in to take a look at myself....
  4. I have six pins in my right ankle from a break. Nicknamed the ankle Leslie because of that.... Great hang y'all!
  5. My brother was a bass player in a really, really crappy rock band back in High School. He was a senior, I was freshman, and for some reason that still remains unknown to me, he asked if I wanted to play keyboards with them - I'd been playing piano about 10 years at that point. Yamaha DX21 was the keyboard we had at the time. I played one gig with them, a party that got busted. First time I smoked weed....
  6. I bought a new sustain pedal today. Life goes on....
  7. I do this sort of thing on various clones, and while it's not quite as much fun as on a real console, it still "works" with no problem for me. Things to bear in mind: make sure your left hand is in the right range; make sure the slaps are really short; and don't hit too many notes at once. I would add to this, granted coming from a taste for the more 'direct' sounds of a Baby Face Willette, or Ray Charles playing a Hammond through a Hammond speaker, one way to make up for the lack of the 9 contacts on a clone that allows you to edit the key contact level is to boost the key contact level. That's where the clones try to make up their inability to replicate the things that happen on key on, whether it's instantaneous or a held note. Emphasizing the key contact effect goes a long way toward making those sorts of slaps more realistic.
  8. Yep. All of this - ONE E and A TWO e AND A three E AND a FOUR E and A | ONE e AND A two E AND a THREE E and A FOUR e AND A | one E AND a TWO E and A THREE e AND A four E AND a | ONE....
  9. You can buy solid replacement tires from them, and they are an improvement. I had one of the inflatable tires blow on my when I was loading out from a gig at the airport. Sounded like a gun went off. Nobody seemed to notice.... https://rocknrollercart.com/collections/wheels
  10. Get the biggest cart and be prepared to go to the welding shop and spend $60 after a couple few years.
  11. I was always under the impression it was about condoms....
  12. Carry a laser down the road that I must travel.... (and I was reared Catholic) [video:youtube]
  13. FKS - you got that file with all the clav audio files too?
  14. Nice work wmp. I hadn't seen the movie in a quarter of a century, so I wasn't completely sure.
  15. Pretty sure that's from Jailhouse Rock
  16. One of the reasons for left hand only piano music http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Wittgenstein
  17. I find the model numbers odd - the 88 is the K4 and the 76 is the K5
  18. You may have coined a phrase there: "clone with benefits." That is pretty good...
  19. +10000000 Agreed. When I had a roadcase made for my XK-3c, I had them make it to accommodate the XK-3c AND the lower manual. I'd come to a point where I realized I was basically never going to use the XK-3c as a single manual. regardless of the gig. Sure, a lighter two manual clone would be great, but honestly, 60 or 70 lbs for the two compared to a few hundred or so lbs for the "real thing"? It's a no brainer.
  20. I like it. Not only the Bbm7-Eb7 but the way the melody sounds starting on the 6th of the Bb Maj. 7 and goes up to the third. It is different. I think it might be a typo 'cause you have a 13 bar phrase there. I think you meant Dm7 C#7 | Cm7 F7| then to the Bb as opposed to a beat apiece for those 4 chords. Not to keep bringing him up, but that Bbm7 Eb7 move sounds like something Hank Jones would do. Yeah, you're right. Should be two beats apiece on that walk down. Thanks man!
  21. That is rad. ii Ving to the relative major of the Gm. The Bb- Eb7 is intriguing too. For some reason, the Bb- Eb7 almost seems to make the D maj stand out less to my ears.
  22. One of the other things that's fun about that tune is trading with a drummer. The first 2 A's are 14 bars, so you can do 8/6 bar trades or 6/8 trades, or if you're geniuses, 7/7 bar trades.
