MAJUSCULE
Those of you on certain social media platforms may have seen a variety of fill-in-the-blanks templates on a variety of subjects. Thought I'd transplant one over here, as I'm sure there are some good answers. Post an artist/band you've seen live starting with each letter of the alphabet: A: Anderson .Paak B: Bruno Mars C: Chromeo D: Dr. John E: Ellis Marsalis Quintet F: Fishbone G: Ghost-Note H: Hargrove, Roy (The RH Factor, bending the rules) I: Irma Thomas J: Jon Cleary (solo & w/ the Absolute Monster Gentlemen) K: Kneebody L: Lettuce M: The Meters N: The Neville Brothers O: Ozomatli P: Parliament-Funkadelic Q: Queens of the Stone Age R: The Roots & Usher S: Stevie Wonder (x2) T: Tower of Power U: Usher & the Roots V: Village People W: The Wailers X: Xavier Taplin (this one is cheating, he was part of Ghost-Note) Y: Yves Lambert & le Bébert Orchestra Z: Zachary Richard Heavy on the funk and soul, NOLA, with a little jazz, rock and hip-hop mixed in, plus a couple wildcards. Of course, the story is almost as much who you leave out! Missing for me include all-stars like Beyoncé, Donny McCaslin Group, Lauryn Hill, Royal Canoe, Nas & the Soul Rebels, and I could obviously go on. I imagine some of you could fill this in at least once for each decade. I also decided to double up and see if I could get through it with acts that I've played with live. Got close, but the end of the alphabet is a real killer. A: Ann Vriend B: Bryan Coffey & the Best Friends C: Cardioid D: Dylan Farrell Band E: Exciting Times Jazz Party F: Franco-Party G: Galala, house band du (another stretch) H: High Tides I: J: John Sweenie Group K: King Muskafa L: Letters From Pluto M: Mireille Moquin N: Newt-Sauce O: The Orchard P: Post Script Q: R: The Retrofitz S: Sole Rhythm T: Terrian U: V: Vriend, Ann (oops that's twice for Ann ) W: Whyte Bronco X: Y: Yana Loo Z: I don't think I forget anyone, but obviously the doubles hurt here too... Too many people starting their projects with the same letters! They should've seen this thread coming! Anyway, let's see yours! xKnuckles
I have to say: this proved a most enjoyable project.....brought back so many wonderful memories... I have included more than one artist for certain letters as it would be too traumatising for me to attempt to choose between them! BRW
That's kind of fun, kind of depressing, knowing how many I've missed! I heavily regret missing seeing The Eagles even once before Glenn Frey passed - it just seemed like it was the type of band that would tour "forever" so I'd get a million "second chances". Another one is PRINCE - that one hurts because I had the chance. Never saw Michael Jackson or Ray Charles either, but got to see James Brown before he passed. Missed Keith Jarrett too (so far). Drew a few blanks and a few doubles, quite a few jazz guys. Some I've seen multiple times...cheating a bit by using both first and last names for some A: Aloe Blacc B: Blondie; Brown, James; Black Sheep; Brecker, Michael C: Corea, Chick; Coltrane, Ravi; Calderazzo, Joey D: Duke, George; Douglas, Dave E: Erskine, Peter; Elton John F: G: Glasper, Robert (Experiment); Garrett, Kenny H: Hancock, Herbie; Hubbard, Freddie I: Interpol; Isham, Mark J: James Taylor; Jamiroquai K: Kent (SWE), Kajfes, Goran L: Lloyd, Charles; Ladybug Mecca (from Digable Planets); Lovano, Joe M: Murphy, Roisin; Massive Attack N: Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds O: P: Pete Rock; Previte, Bobby Q: R: Roney, Wallace S: Shorter, Wayne; Sting, Steely Dan, Seal T: Toto; Tyner, McCoy U: U2 V: W: Wonder, Stevie; We Are Scientists; Wesseltoft, Bugge (New Conception Of Jazz); Watts, Jeff "Tain" X: Y: Z: ZZ Top

That"s not counting the free outdoor concerts I went to when I was a little kid in a shopping center near where I live called Kingstowne. Those were all mostly world, folk, and local popular artists. This was in the mid 2000"s, there were several bands who had accordion, and a few with synth and keys players, I remember a cumbia band with a guy rocking a Poly-800 for brass sounds and a French band with a piano accordion.
