Stokely
Wow...this one hits pretty hard. Huge Rush fan as a teen (though oddly enough I was a teen in the early 80s and was more into their late 70s stuff!). ****ing cancer. Unfortunately a foe that both my wife and I and many family members know all too well.

Dr88s
I really can"t gather the words of tribute that are needed. His drumming was unparalleled. His lyrics were unparalleled. After those first five chords, I was in for life. Their live shows were always so full of energy and fun. God Bless, Neil, and thank you for all the terrific music and memories. Mark Schmieder
https://www.cbc.ca/news/entertainment/neil-peart-obit-1.5422806 I was checking CBC for more info on the plane crash as they have understandably been covering it in more depth than the national media of other countries, and this shocker popped up on the front page. I don't read Rolling Stone so didn't see the one posted at the top here, but it seems to also be dated from today, meaning that world events blotted out his death for three full days. It wouldn't be the first time that someone of note has died and no one knew for days (or even longer) due to too many top stories understandably taking up all of the bandwidth. This is a very sad death for me; he was one of my favourite drummers, and a nice guy to boot. Marzzz
Yeah, my wife just told me...this really sucks. Incidentally, it sounds like he passed away from the same type of brain cancer that Dr. Moog had; the life expectancy from something like this is barely 6 months, and Peart battled it for more than 3 years. Anderton
I always thought his drumming was fantastic, but he was about more than drumming...more like an author who also played drums. He had the same cancer that killed my Dad, and surviving it as long as he did is pretty remarkable. I have a sampled Neal Peart drum set...but for some reason, I don't sound like him at all... psionic11
Tragic news, feeling blue tonight. There's going to be a lot of grieving fans hearing this, myself included. My dog is named Rush, and in almost every other of the 2 dozen bands I've been in, we've played Rush. Neil's legacy will live on, and my condolences go out to his extended family worldwide.
