Getting the new mixer and PA speakers set up for rehearsal tomorrow.

I'm married to my drummer. We have the same musical goals, and only play together. So band life intersects with home life pretty well. That's not at all helpful. I'm just bragging.

Mainly to use on electric bass.

Yeah, they're certainly better than generic earplugs, but they still cut some high end.

I've used Hearos for reasonable rehearsals and gigs: https://www.guitarcenter.com/Hearos/High-Fidelity-Ear-Plugs-1273887995250.gc I'm not sure if they'd hold up for really loud gigs, though. More recently, I've used these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019M576XW They've held up well as an audience member at pretty loud blues and rock shows, but I haven't gigged with them.

My own utterly unscientific, anecdotal perspective as a college prof is that younger folks are increasingly less interested in social media. My hope is that the whole thing will settle down to just another minimal thing that people interact with in moderate and healthy ways.

I've probably mentioned this before, but I took lessons from Rick 35 years ago. He had a strong personality that sometimes rubbed people the wrong way, and he and I butted heads once or twice, but overall I really liked him and valued his instruction, especially for ear training and theory. I haven't kept touch with him since way back when, but I'm glad to hear he's successful doing something he loves.

It definitely has USB audio. The manual makes it sound like you do have to install a driver: "You can connect the RD-2000 via USB to a computer, and use it to handle audio signals. To use USB audio functionality, install the “VENDER” driver." I haven't tried it myself.

It's interesting how theory books tend to focus on chord changes and not mode changes, though I suppose they imply it by way of the associated chords ... maybe ... SO you're looking for a suggestion for what to put in the blank in A Ionian --> G Lydian --> blank Yes? How about F# Aeolian? It's the relative minor of A Ionian, and the G Lydian could just be thought of as a non-diatonic transition chord from the major to the minor. Just spit-balling here. I'm visiting my mom in Florida, and I do not have access to any musical instruments at the moment! 😆 😭
