  1. Looks like these guys have been down that path. Some good references in the responses. https://groupdiy.com/threads/hammond-b3-chop.9525/
  2. Thanks for the compliment 😄 This is right out of the Pathfinder speakers into an iPhone 14 standard, no tricks, effects, or EQ. It has an 8" woofer and a small tweeter, and it has it's own battery good for 4-5 hours. This actually was the third take: after the first two I went into the CABS section to round OFF the lows. For what I paid it's the best kept secret in audio. Another plus: although you can't see it because the Jackery unit is hiding it, the top of the Pathfinder is a wireless charging pad and it also has a USB "A" port above the main volume pot. Built in wheels and a retractable dolly handle are nice touches as well. Jake
  3. Nice stand by the way, I have the same. What is your iPad holder that fits to it? i frankensteined an old desktop holder and mated it to this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XKVNJWG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Hope this helps.
  4. I have this: https://samsontech.com/products/usb-midi/keyboard-controllers/graphite49/ My only issue is I needed 61 keys.
  5. I've been a disciple of IK's B3X since December 2019. Since then I've adopted an Arturia KeyLab 61 Mk.II controller, and have chosen my iPad Mini 5 to host since it has an audio jack. A while ago I grabbed an ION Pathfinder amp from BJ's for $129.00 USD just for playing tunes during family barbecues and the like. Recently I also purchased a Jackery Explorer 290 simply because I sleep with a CPAP and this device will power it for about 7 hours, after which either my generator or wall power can recharge it (there's a solar cell option as well). Tonight I brainstormed the idea of putting my clone rig completely under battery power and it works fine. The Jackery went from 99% down to 83% after about 3 hours of use, so it looks very promising for outdoor or non-AC gigs. I'm passing this info on since some of you do this on a steady basis and might find it helpful. Also there are way bigger models to choose from so you needn't be relegated to keyboards with self contained speakers. It will increase your schlep factor, but being able to rely on steady clean power has to help overall.
  6. Just saw this.... https://www.ikmultimedia.com/news/?id=WeeklyKrazyDeals2023&utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=WeeklyKrazyDeals2023 B3X 39.99 for PC or Mac.
  7. I knock out a YouTube vid every other month or so. My son promised me that he’ll bring my laptop and small PA to my funeral so everyone can see and hear what they could have hired before I departed……
  8. I don’t have the DX but enjoy the other three immensely. I bring the YC and CS on gigs as backups for organ and bass and I’ve also experimented with a guitar remote transmitter for strapping on the YC and getting out into the audience to give my ass a break from continuous dates.😚
  9. I give him points for having the good taste to use a quatrefoil C cabinet….. Haven’t seen a real one in years.
  10. A baby bunny and a baby snake are tunneling underground and meet face to face. “What are you?”, they both ask. The snake goes first. “You have long white ears, a pink nose and a fuzzy tail - you must be a bunny”. The bunny replies “You have squinty eyes, scaly skin, and a forked tongue - you must be a business agent”.
  11. I guess I’m the only one here who thinks running percussion through a fast Leslie is akin to fingernails on a blackboard. The only time I’ve liked that is “Walk Between Raindrops” by Fagen. Nowhere else. Ever. Jake
  12. Here’s my 3 year old Carbon 61 and my 56 year old B. It ain’t the color, it’s which ones you press at which time that counts.
  13. R.I.P. Mr. Bennett. An unmistakable voice, a phenomenal talent, and a humble human being.
  14. Back in the late 60’s I had 2 keyboards: my Hammond and a Wurlitzer 145B. The B didn’t go out on club dates and the majority of gigs were trios. I hated not having a bass sound, and even tried a Rhodes bass keyboard, which didn’t cut it. When I entered college a graduate assistant had a trio and did the left hand guitar bass. I was stunned at the sound. The next day I went to Muscara Music in Belleville, NJ, and bought a Harmony D21, and gigged with a bass for the next 50 or so years. It got me a lot of work. Since those days split keyboards have become available, and with the introduction of arthritis and carpal tunnel issues the bass has been retired in favor of keys, or pedals. One note: Joe wasn’t related to the Muscara’s that owned the store, but I think he wishes he was……….. Jake
  15. Before you jump to conclusions about my statement being a joke perhaps you should consider that I was telling the truth. I did this act for many years simply because back in the day keyboards didn't split and the trios I worked in used a guitar or a horn for the third piece. And, no I never was compensated for this kind of doubling. I did it out of musical necessity and the fact that Lefty knew my changes..... I've seen James with the Mnozil Brass and thoroughly respect his talent. No sleight was intended and I don't believe my wording gave a negative impression. Jake
  16. This js very through: https://www.nshos.com/X66-6.htm
  17. For the past almost 4 years. I’ve been gigging with IKM’s B3X and have enjoyed less schlep and great sound. That being said, moving air has no substitute. Therefore I dragged out the Nord C-1 (using Ocean Beach drawbars) along with the PK-27, the Leslie 2101, and a Yorkville Bloc100K. Being known as “One Take Jake” I discovered that I still retain my sloppy technique but hearing that 2101 swirling 888888888 makes for a happy day.
  18. I taught at the Hammond Organ store in Totawa, NJ for most of the 70’s. Over the summer usually my 9:00 would show up, and then I’d have cancellations until 2:30, so I had plenty of seat time on the 66, 77, and others. The 66 never drew me in, the 77 was a step in the right direction, but my B spoiled me, and that hasn’t changed. The arpeggiator watch band on the 66 was a one trick pony, but basically a novelty. When things were really slow the salesmen and I would put the discs upside down in the Optigan and improvise science fiction dialog over the screeching…….
  19. And no built in Leslie. At least the X-77 and the later GT versions fixed that omission. Jake
  20. Thought I might like the Arturia Keylab but after trying it, it felt "spongy". I've only had my B for 56 years but my KeyLab 61 Mk.II is pretty close feel wise. Jake
  21. I’ve gigged with the IOS version for over 3 years and it’s never let me down. I also have the real deal to compare it to, and it’s thisclose. The one thing that IK removed from V1.0 to 1.1 was the Leslie simulation for IOS - they flipped the cabinet around and you just see wood, no speaker animation. They stated that an iPad didn’t have enough horsepower to display it. My mini4 worked fine until they removed it, and my 5 and 6 surely could do it. So, for 69USD (which was 30 less than I paid originally) I got my animation back. Perhaps not the best musical reason to purchase, but since I’m thinking about going to a laptop/controller setup I’m covered either way. Its not 425 pounds, it doesn’t smell of generator oil, but damn, it nails the sound. Jake
  22. I jumped on the IOS B3X bandwagon back in December 2019. Just got a heavy duty laptop and recently purchased an Arturia KeyLab61 with the attached goodie bag of software. This could be the start of something big….. Kudos to Steve Allen.
  23. If there’s not enough guitar in the mix………. Then it’s perfect. That being said, all my video recordings are done with my trusty Zoom Q2N-4K and I don’t remix or remaster. I throw them up on you tube and everyone in the band is thrilled to see themselves…. Even the guitar player. As long as it serves your purpose don’t ask for critique - if they complain let them invest in a camera and knock themselves out.
