  1. I didn’t. I gutted it and kept only the key bed and the scanning matrix. Essentially I turned it into a controller.
  2. Only yesterday, I started thinking of something similar for my C2D for the bottom split of the lower manual, though in my case, I would want velocity sensitivity so I'd need both switch contacts. The problem is, I don't want to disable the C2D to do the work. I wonder if I could get a schematic somewhere, or perhaps one for parts. I do have an Electro 4 though. I wonder if the construction is similar in this area? In the last century, I modified a Yamaha PF15 to add a velocity sensitive MIDI out. This was done using an 8051 running at 8 MHz (I think?). That had enough speed to do 16 note polyphony. After 16 I had to start robbing counters.
  3. I changed to it as an homage to Bob Schleicher. It’s the one he used in his to emails to me.
  4. Is this it? https://www.tescanada.com/parts/electro-voice/ev-evolve-50/ev-evolve-50-distance-bar Also check Thomann.
  5. Take a look at a medical stool. There are some that have high range. Here's one that adjust 22 to 30 inches for example.
  6. I liked the Top Cat theme so much I charted it for the "Swing Band" band I was in (remember those?). I like the way the rhythm breaks from swing to straight and back again. Anyway, the trumpet player couldn't hack it so we never perormed it. I can't recall who wrote it except that it wasn't the name of a TV theme writer I had heard of.
  7. Nord C2D - OS v1.12 Trigger high/low selection is a system setting and applies to all manuals/splits. High trigger - sends MIDI fixed key velocity 100 Low trigger - sends MIDI key velocity
  8. If you are not covering LHB, then use no bass reinforcement. Bass players tend to get annoyed by KB with bass content that infringes on their turf.
  9. I'm guessing that the horn she's holding is a mid-80s King/Conn 615. (I should be practicing. Oh well...) The low register pads on the left side of the bell and the shape of the substantial neck brace narrow the choices. Any other guesses?
  10. That's not the first time I've seen a video of a tenor that plays like an alto - split tones, altissimo, etc. The video says the saxophonist is Talayna Moana Nikora. IMDB says Talayna Moana Nikora is a stunt actor. So she may have actually had flames on her back while filming. Maybe that's what it takes to play hot sax.
  11. Has anyone had their hearing tested while using hearing aids? She has them (the royal She), and a friend has them. Both said that their hearing was not checked after the aids were put in. How does one know the EQ curve is optimum? It would be nice to be able to tweak that.
  12. I just noticed this topic and found myself nodding along to the postings. My experience is similar to others. Locking in with a good drummer and driving the band might be the most fun I've had playing. I use a C2D with the lower manual split. MIDI into a Roland M-BD1, driving a 500 W bass amp. The M-BD1 is a 90s rompler with sampled electric and acoustic basses (M. Miller, J. Patitucci, A. Laboriel). One can be had for around $100. I recently gifted a fretless to a friend's teenage bass playing son. Now there are only four basses under the bed. 😁
  13. I have a 142 for the house and a 122 to gig with. The picture is of my 142. It has two fixed casters and two swivel casters with no brakes. The 122 has brakes on the swivel casters. A caster pair is mounted to a slab of 19" x 4" x 3/4" plywood with 1/4" sheet metal screws and T-nuts. T-nuts are mounted recessed on the opposite side. The ten screws attaching each assembly to the base are #10x1-1/4" SS phillips pan head sheet metal screws. The casters are from casterconnection.com. I stole this set off of my gigging Leslie. Maybe they have something other than orange. I don't know. Polyurethane, 350 lb, 3" dia., 1-1/4" width, 4-1/4" height. Fixed: SKU: CCAPEX-325-R Swivel (no brake): SKU: CCAPEX-325-R Swivel (side lock brake): SKU: CCAPEX-325-S-VB The fixed casters are probably more important on the 122 because I tilt it back on them when loading in/out and jumping curbs. Swivel casters will flop over when you try that. Brakes are essential on the 122. These casters roll very easily, either across the parking lot while unattended during loading in/out or on stage from a small push. There is no loss in bass from having the cabinet 6" above the floor. You get boundary gain until the distance is greater than 1/4 wavelength. At 50 Hz, 1/4 wavelength is 67 inches.
  14. Stevie Wonder and His Dream Machines is an article about Stevie Wonder's early embrace of new sounds and technology and his influence on the development of synthesizers, pedals, and other electronica used for music creation and production. A final quote from the article:
  15. I understand the OP was asking for an online tool. This tool, youtube-dl is not. However, it is open source. It is a command line tool and requires a python interpreter, though there is a windows executable available that obviates the python interpreter. From the wikipedia entry: youtube-dl is a free and open source download manager for video and audio from YouTube[2] and over 1,000 other video hosting websites.[3] It is released under the Unlicense software license.[4] One thing I like, it can show all available audio and video formats. Here is a list generated for one of my YT videos. The first line is the command line that generated the report: $ youtube-dl -F https://youtu.be/9fOWP67pxrc [youtube] 9fOWP67pxrc: Downloading webpage [youtube] 9fOWP67pxrc: Downloading MPD manifest [info] Available formats for 9fOWP67pxrc: format code extension resolution note 139 m4a audio only DASH audio 49k , m4a_dash container, mp4a.40.5 (22050Hz), 1.14MiB 251 webm audio only tiny 122k , webm_dash container, opus @122k (48000Hz), 2.86MiB 140 m4a audio only tiny 129k , m4a_dash container, mp4a.40.2@129k (44100Hz), 3.01MiB 278 webm 256x144 DASH video 95k , webm_dash container, vp9, 30fps, video only 160 mp4 256x144 DASH video 108k , mp4_dash container, avc1.4d400b, 30fps, video only 242 webm 426x240 DASH video 220k , webm_dash container, vp9, 30fps, video only 133 mp4 426x240 DASH video 242k , mp4_dash container, avc1.4d400c, 30fps, video only 134 mp4 640x360 360p 43k , mp4_dash container, avc1.4d401e@ 43k, 30fps, video only, 1.01MiB 243 webm 640x360 DASH video 405k , webm_dash container, vp9, 30fps, video only 244 webm 854x480 DASH video 752k , webm_dash container, vp9, 30fps, video only 135 mp4 854x480 DASH video 1155k , mp4_dash container, avc1.4d4014, 30fps, video only 136 mp4 1280x720 720p 101k , mp4_dash container, avc1.4d401f@ 101k, 30fps, video only, 2.37MiB 247 webm 1280x720 DASH video 1505k , webm_dash container, vp9, 30fps, video only 18 mp4 640x360 360p 171k , avc1.42001E, 30fps, mp4a.40.2 (44100Hz) (best) ...and the command to download the best video/audio (18): $ youtube-dl -f 18 https://youtu.be/9fOWP67pxrc How to use youtube-dl : A Step-by-Step Tutorial
  16. There must be a difference, but I haven't noticed it.
  17. I have one Leslie amp that can run either 6550s or EL34s (switch selectable). EL34s are currently about half the price of 6550s.
  18. The "oh brother" moment for me was the mention of an incorporated technology that "helps remove a veil". Things that remove a layer of veiling in the sound reproduction was standard copy for reviews of high-end audio gear in the previous century. I was surprised to see such a worn phrase used in modern ad copy. Perhaps I shouldn't have been.
  19. I have an old LG G2 with the chip removed that I use for a media player. Camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, browser, games, etc.
  20. In the interest of "authenticity", which clonist will be the first to include "authentic oil smell" along with the other features, e.g. tweakable tone generator cal., key click, crosstalk, etc. None? I suppose one could at least include one of those scratch-n-sniff paper things in the promo material.
  21. Any time I read anything about the smell of a Hammond, I think of a funny posting Perry Hemus made to the zk3 Hammond mailing list in 1995. He was lamenting the fact that he had an M100 which didn't have the sound he was looking for.
  22. That shows a preview of the content of the first posting in a thread. I would like to preview what my post will look like before I actually post it. I suppose I don't really need to, since it isn't possible to edit the unformatted code.
  23. (cross-post) 1. Post preview? 2. Edit using Markdown or BBcode (or whatever)?
  24. 1. Is there any way to preview posts? 2. Is there anyway to directly edit using Markdown or bbcode (or whatever)?
  25. That one looks like concert footage. (summary) "The life of tenor saxophonist/composer/arranger/musicologist Jim Pepper traced through his music, and with interviews with family, fellow musicians, and Pepper himself. Pepper was pioneer in jazz/rock fusion, and later utilized Kaw, Creek and other Native American songs and rhythms for a new Native American/jazz fusion style." I searched and found the video on the website of Upstream Productions (original source). It's looks like it is also available on Amazon but I don't know what an "Interactive Video" is.
