  1. Awesome! It reminds me a little of the "Caffeinated Keyboardist" podcast. Looking forward to future episodes!
  2. Yeah, or we could discuss our feelings when we see these markings, or what we think we heard some piano teacher say to another in a loud bar twenty-five years ago, or we could look up portato on wikipedia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portato
  3. For sure! Marino, can you please send us some blowing over Cherokee with that sound?
  4. I have no stakes in the game, if you like him you like him, if not, ya don't. I've also had similar feelings to the ones the three gentlemen above expressed, however, I find there's quite a few gems you can pick out of his repertoire. And - you could just try to enjoy someone young, immensely talented, having a relatively big audience that's willing to listen. I'd rather listen to him for the rest of my life than One Direction (yeah, I'm that out of touch... ) For your consideration, YMMV: [video:youtube] [video:youtube]
  5. Yeah, you're gonna have a hard time moving all the voices and still have it sound like a E dominant the whole time. How about prolonging the A# to a quarter note and harmonizing it with Eb/F (well, technically D#/F)? Also, depending on the style, you might wanna lose the root notes in the voicings (I'm assuming there's a bass playing the roots).
  6. Ok, I finally watched parts of the videos in the OP. I'm not gonna get a Fantom, as I'm not at all in the market for a workstation. What I really, really like about it though, is the visualization of synth parameters on the screen. I already dug what the Korg Minilogues did on the tiny OLED displaying the waveform, but this is one more step in the right direction, I think. I was really struggling with synths (I had like three different versions of the Nord Lead that I sold cause I couldn't connect with it), and interactive screens that show what you are actually doing with waveforms, LFOs and other stuff are really motivating for me! I hope we see lots more of these in the near future!
  7. Who you mean? Your president who's got German roots? ;-) My president's got German roots 'cause I'm from Germany as well, Tom
  8. Well, we should be careful with what dudes from Germany say...
  9. Interesting article, thanks for sharing, Joe! I'm looking forward to better and better smartphone cameras, though I don't think they'll replace standalone mirrorless or DSLR cameras in the next decade. I'm also happy about manufacturers churning out new models. Like it says in the part you quoted above, I'm a happy camper buying great used gear for half the price.
  10. Of course it will. 18-24 months from now. And I assume you mean successor? Oh yeah. Too early over here...
  11. Dang! And here's me hoping my original JU06 module would be worth serious $$$$ in a few years...
  12. It'll be interesting to see if the Fantom technology trickles down to some form of FA 06 successor.
  13. There's two constantly plugged into my interface, one that goes from my Mojo Pedals to the organ, and possibly 7 in a storage box under my desk...
  14. How about Cologne, Germany? 1m inhabitants, lots of college students, gay capital of Germany, vibrant free and experimental jazz scene but also lots of funk/soul/function gigs, media outlets galore, one of Europe's best professional radio big bands (at the moment lead by Bob Mintzer), excellent music college, close proximity to Belgium, the Netherlands, France (3 hour train ride to Paris). The visa process is bureaucratic (it's Germany, after all) but as an American you enjoy certain privileges (my wife is American). Lovely river Rhine. Housing is expensive af, but as most Germans rent instead of own, you don't have to put down serious cash right away. Oh, and of course big touring acts pass through all the time.
  15. I was playing in this Electro Pop act, nothing comparable in size to Katy Perry of course, but all the program changes and some filter sweeps for my three keyboards came via MIDI from an Ableton rig. That was a way cool experience - being able to fully concentrate on the playing without having to worry about hitting tiny program buttons on the keyboard panels...
  16. Didn't someone once post a video of a Japanese funk cover band, all in blackface and wigs? Crazy.
  17. I bought a Canon 5D MkII used recently. It's awesome for shooting, but dang heavy!
  18. Nice, but there's no "Go to the forums" button once you scroll down. Another big fat one of these on the bottom of the page might help directing people to the action
  19. You win the grand prize for being the first person on here to ever say that. Heresy! Well, now that I've moved to a place with a smaller office, I have to make some difficult decisions... hence the above statement.
  20. Have you guys read the comments below the OP's article? There's someone talking about his terrible experiences with the author's promotion company - tragic and ironic.
  21. Cool, that sounds tempting! Thanks for the review! Edit: also....... congrats on your wife
